Helpful, friendly staff in a good, central (French Market Mall) location.

A little higher than Petsmart, IMHO, but I hear the store does do price matching.

They refused to groom my German Shepherd after I told them she has hip problems. They have hydraulic tables, but refused to use it with my German Shephard. They don't have a vet clinic or vet staff on hand, and they are not accessible for pets with disabilities or health problems. Please do not use them.

A couple of the workers here are friendlier and more helpful than at your average chain pet store. Plus they have a larger selection of animals to choose from than Petsmart. Fish tanks are clean, and they have salt water fish, coral frags and live rock! First time I've seen the latter two at a Petco before. Only negative is on average, pet supplies are priced a bit higher than Petsmart and Walmart, and they run fewer sales on potential pets. I've never had a dog groomed here, so I can't comment on that. But the service we had was excellent and they let customers interact and touch a lot of the animals here, which was very helpful in deciding which pet to take home with us. Just ask and they will get an animal out for you.
It is sad we have no locally owned pet stores, especially in a city of this size. And I know Petco and Petsmart were the cause. But in this post-LFS world, this is a pretty decent Petco location. If you do stop in, be sure to say hi to 'Heihei' the feisty Green-cheeked conyure.

This is a dog friendly place. They have quite a variety of food and clothes for dogs. There is a large variety of things for cats too.

They also have guinea pigs and reptiles and rodents.

I love ordering from them online. I've gotten all of my dog furniture from there.

However, I feel like their dog food prices are high. I generally buy dog food at local pet food stores for less than they charge.

This Petco is the best one in the whole city! I absolutely love their staff. They are super helpful and always friendly. Their dog trainer Leah is excellent too! Our dog has been through 4 rounds of dog training there and Leah has helped us get him to the trained boy that he is now. She's always available if you call the store too with any animal questions. All the staff knows our dog by name. It's such a wonderful shopping experience. I highly recommend this Petco to anyone!

Food is great here! ahem....for my doggo's! They sell Pet Fresh which is my dog's fav food brand and all their treats are good as well. Service is always friend, efficient, and quick! I do wish the store was slightly bigger as I've seen better stores before.

Also, my favorite reason why I shop here over PetSmart is because of the ease of their rewards programs. 5% off everything, all the time, (1 point per dollar on everything and at 100 points you get $5 back).
At PetSmart their point system is much less. You have to spend $125 before you get $2.50 back on certain rewards, thats only 2% cash back!

I'm not reviewing this place for the dog grooming, I'm just reviewing the store itself (come on, people: there are so many local independent groomers that you can support!) I also want to note that I don't normally shop for pet food here, I go to a local pet shop that carries my dog and cats favorite foods.

This is an old-school Petco, and I LIKE that. It's smaller than most Petco stores but still offers just as much selection. I go here for two things, mostly: the toys and the treats. And they have a good selection of both! My dog loves their fresh treat bar (specifically the doggy sandwich cookies!) They seem to have a decent food selection, a good mix of higher-end and lower-end. The staff at this one is also much friendlier than the staff on NW Expressway.

Wow this store is so small, i think they have 5 shopping carts. They had pallets of stock everywhere which made it even more difficult to get around. I went to buy dog and cat food, but didnt have what I consider many options to choose from. I left and went to petsmart across the street and got what i wanted.

completely shaved off my dogs hair. didn't even attempt to comb or do a good job, very rude service at the front, would not listen to what we wanted done and instead shaved off all his hair.

Okay I'm also not reviewing for the grooming but the store. Okay so I realized my doggo was out of dog food (she has strict dietary needs) and they closed in 10 minutes, luckily I live right up the road so I rushed over to the store. When I got there I ran to the food then rushed over to the counter to check out. Now I REALLY hate being the guy that checks out right before closing but tonight i didn't have a choice. There was two women by the cash register and they were the SWEETEST cashiers i ever met. They weren't one bit frustrated with me for cutting it close, instead they were the quite opposite. They even checked to make sure I got everything I needed in my rush. I frequent this location about every other week and days like this are the reason I continue to do so even with the surrounding pet stores also near by. I really wished I would have thought ahead and read their name tags so I could shout out them out personally, but I will make a phone call in the morning (they're currently closed) to let the manger personally know how impressed I was with my experience.
