This place is called Peru CHICKEN. But they have no chicken. An hour and a half before closing and they are out of EVERY CHICKEN DISH. And not just the rotisserie, we could only order off of one part of the menu, as there was NO CHICKEN.
We were not the only people to walk out.
I would give a higher rating because one of the employees was super sweet (the other one was visibly mad when the first couple walked out and threw down the menus) but, again, there was no chicken at "Peru Chicken."Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 24, 2024
This place is right by my hairdresser and on a long service day, I decided to try it.....BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!! Let me tell you guys, the food is so delicious!! We got the chicken fried rice which also comes as a mix optioned (with steak)! There's something about the rice I think...we literally call it "crack" rice at home because that's how addicting it is! The rice is so flavorful and the meat you get is nice and tender! Their plantain is always so soft and sweet, so if you like that type it is good! They offer a green and yellow sauce with each order, (green is a lil bit spicer than yellow to me) so the contrast of sweet and spicy sauce is PERFECT! Yucca fries are bomb too!
It's a small space so with the limited seating, it seems they do more pick-up orders than dine-in customers. But this place gets busy!!
I am def interested in trying some of their more authentic dishes! This has definitely our go-to at least once a weekHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 27, 2024
Worth it! Being better about food and def eating less carbs. Out on a multi hour errand run and got hungry. I just wanted some chicken. I was up the street and there was an EPL. 2 chicken thighs, $7.xx!! I asked at the window if a meal was cheaper, dude goes yes. Told him to add his fave sides bc I didn't want them. $9.42!! I said I thought it was cheaper, he goes, "a better value!" Cancel the whole thing. Back to Yelp for chicken close by and end up here. It was heavy traffic and I almost didn't make the turn but SO glad I did!!!
Place was packed! Table outside had ppl, it's small inside 3/4 tables, but every one had ppl!! Looked at the menu, 1/4 chicken only, $5!! Sign me up!! I think it usually comes w a breast but I wanted dark meat. Couple mins and my food was up. I asked if it had sauce, she said no, but asked if I wanted yellow or green. Said which ever was mild.
Omg the smell is insane! It's flavorful, juicy, not a chain, and puts anything I almost spent $8 or $10 for, to shame! They really do a good job w the seasoning here. The yellow sauce was underwhelming to my tastebuds but takes nothing away from the chicken and it's goodness!
Menu looked really good, I'd def stop by next time I'm in the area, and more than open to trying something else. Much healthier option and better to support small business than a chain. So glad it didn't work out elsewhere as I found a new gem!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 5405045926Dec 5, 2023Updated review
It's been awhile since I last had Peru Chicken. This is the only Peruvian restaurant that has been consistently good and is the first location of three restaurants. You'll find them on Tropicana near Spencer with good parking available.
Inside is very small with a few seating to accommodate for less than 15 people. Most of the orders are for takeout but it is enjoyable dining in, if you're able to get a table. There's a TV to watch local news and shows, and sometimes it's just entertaining to see a music video.
They offer good appetizers and entrees. Papa A La Huancaina ($9) is a cold salad of boiled potatoes covered in creamy yellow pepper sauce, it's an amazing appetizer along with Salchipapas ($8) of french fries and fried hot dog. Tallarin Saltado De Pollo ($15) is very good and has sauteed chicken with onions and tomatoes in linguine pasta. Tacu Tacu Montado ($12) is super flavorful and excellent with two over medium fried eggs served with red onion relish, so delicious!
Desserts like picarones and Peruvian flan is a lovely treat, and I love Helado De Lucuma ($7) which is a delightful ice cream made of egg fruit served with crispy orange cookies, so good! Welcoming and friendly service from Adela is always a plus. She is very kind, courteous, and efficient.Helpful 38Thanks 5Love this 27Oh no 0Jan 5, 2018Previous reviewPeruvian food taste amazing! This location is somewhat hidden in the Piazza Napoli Center. It's in the area near the Cuba Café Tapas & Bar. When you enter the restaurant, there are at least 4 to 5 seating tables. Majority of the orders are for take-out. Fortunately it wasn't busy when I arrived. I was immediately seated by a nice lady and she was able to put in a special request for my order.
I chose the Tacu Tacu con Pollo ($10.95) which is served as Peruvian Refried Beans and Rice with Rotisserie Chicken Breast, and it comes with a slice of tomato and lemon pickled red onions. If you enjoy rotisserie chicken, this place hits the spot. The chicken is well-seasoned and you can tell it's freshly cooked when the meat taste soft and tender. Chicken paired with the savory flavor of refried beans and rice makes this dish so tasty and delicious.
For dessert, I had Platano Frito ($2.00) which are Fried Plantains. I grew up eating fried bananas so it's not anything new to me. I just like bananas, particularly plantains. I know it taste good and it is sweet when they are fried. Also I tried the Picarones ($5.50) which are Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Doughnuts served with Honey Fruit. The doughnut is light, crunchy and soft, and I really like the sweet syrup that came with it.
As for the atmosphere, I like how they set the channel to MTV Tr3s. You have no idea how much I love Latin music! The song playing was "Nuestra Cancion Pt. 2" and it definitely set a fun and upbeat vibe. Good music, friendly and speedy service, and authentic flavor, this place is already on my top go-to for Best Peruvian Food. Also if you like taking home snacks and sweet treats, they do have wafer, cookie bars, and Panettone on the front counter. - 8264019Mar 29, 2024
This food is amazing! I was ready to give 5 stars before trying the sauces they included in my delivery order, but once I tried the sauces, I don't even feel like 5 stars is enough. For my main dish- arroz chaufa de pollo. Basically, fried rice with chicken. Flavor was on point and the serving size was incredibly generous! The egg pieces were delicious, and the chicken was great. Now, for the sauces. Admittedly I'm not as familiar with Peruvian cuisine so I can only go based off of the color. First I tried the yellow sauce; it had a nice peppery flavor with some mild spice. I figured that would be my favorite, but then I tried the green- addictive. It tastes like a cilantro based sauce but it has a big kick after the first few seconds. Peru Chicken has absolutely won my business!

After I posted this review my good friend Robert C from up in Sunnyvale made me laugh when he pointed out how crazy I was for going to a Chicken restaurant and ordering beef. Guilty as charged.
All I can say is the lomo saltado here is so good, you won't even care that people think you're strange.
Anyway, this is still one of my favorite Yelp reviews. It goes like this:
Weather patterns have changed so much in my lifetime. When I was younger there was a powerful jet stream that every year brought tons and tons of snow from Peru directly to California. And not just to the mountains, and not just in the Winter.
It was like a mini Ice Age. Snow was everywhere, it blanketed the whole state. You practically needed a damn snowplow to get anywhere. Didn't really matter where you were, you could just about forget trying to get through a weekend without running into a snowstorm.
I remember at house parties some people were so afraid of avalanches they started going to the bathroom in pairs. Other people wore teeny tiny little snow shovels on a chain around their necks in case they had to dig themselves out of an unexpected blizzard.
The lines that connect us to those times are blurred now. Still, every time I pass a mirror I'm reminded of how different the weather used to be and I get a powerful Jones for something good from Peru.
That's how I ended up here, I hit up Yelp to see what goodies from Peru were available locally. Yelp told me to check out Peru Chicken Rotisserie. So I did.
I got seated and looked over the menu. I'm not the biggest fan of rotisserie chicken, so I asked the waitress for a recommendation. She told me to check out the Lomo Saltado. So I did.
That lomo saltado was exactly what I was looking for to feed my Jones. It was a feast for the eyes, with streams of delicious gravy cascading down a mountain of french fries tossed with thick strips of beef. Soft shards of purple onions and juicy hunks of sauteed tomato kept the party going. They serve it all with a mound of perfectly steamed pharmaceutical grade white rice.
Oblivious to anyone dining near me, I tore into that lomo like a ravenous jackal. I loved how the strips of steak were a little chewy. Not too chewy, just the right kind of chewy. Give you time to appreciate what you're chewing on kinda chewy.
Sort of weird how much I love Lomo Saltado. Normally I wouldn't want gravy on my fries. I'd be like, gimme the gravy on the side, I like my fries crispy. But forget that noise. If you're going to enjoy some real lomo saltado, you gotta get with it, because it's gonna come wet.
I washed it down with a tall glass of the fantastic Peruvian blue corn drink, Chicha Morada. Love me some Purple drank!

Bravo! Been looking for a legit LOMO SALTADO since I moved to Vegas. Amazing and great flan toooo, instant fan. Don't know if I'll get to the other stuff on the menu since I'm a creature of habit and tend to stick to what's good.

It's PROTEIN DAY!!! For Protein-Only days, Pollo a la Brasa from Peru Chicken is a really good choice.
Peru Chicken is a tiny, no-frills, hole-in-the-wall a couple blocks west of the Eastern/Tropicana Ave intersection. It's casual and quick, and their flame roasted rotisserie chicken is BANGIN.
Their dry rub ensures that the chicken is full of flavor, and if you eat it right away at the restaurant, you can even drown the chicken breast in the yellow Huancaina sauce (in case you think the breast is dry).
This spot is PERFECT for an ALL-PROTEIN DAY for those who might be interested in keto and/or carb cycling.
Oh, for those who aren't on a diet... try the fried bananas! You're welcome.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 26, 2023Updated review
I always used to go to the Sahara location but now I'm closer to this location.
I usually order the 1/4 chicken with salad. The chicken is flavorful and tender. I also love the yellow sauce.

This is my favorite lil spot for delicious Peruvian. It's tiny inside; but big flavor for take-out. Food is delicious and Durant take long. Today I got my sweet fix of Peruvian desserts. Thank you Sra. Adela; for all her kind recommendations.

Honestly....5 stars is for service. The place is family run and the people is very nice. It's has a neighborly vibe. The food leaves much to desire. The entire chicken was cooked properly, so no food safety issues, but half of it tasted like it was processed or reheated. The other half tasted fine, so there no consistency. The best part were the plantains, these were very sweet and dessert like. They were almost addictive. At the price point it's a fair product.
