this place is just a company filled with thieves. i called in to have my tank refilled and i was told they would have to do a safety check especially since i mentioned about occassionally smelling gas. the rep mentioned that she would have someone come out to lock my tank in the meantime while they can determine an appointment date. i asked if there would be a charge for this and she told me no. a technician came out, locked the tank and went about his merry way.
next i called about the appointment and they said an agent would contact me to setup a time which never happened. he showed up at my home when i was at work. anyway he ended up waiting and he came and stepped in my apartment to check if there is a gas leak.. how he checked was by sniffing if there was any smell of gas in the atmosphere (genius *rollseyes*). all of this took five minutes because he checked the tank also.
i then received a bill of $97.33, and i called to find out why because that's just absurd especially because the price is vastly differently from a previous safety check i did when i first moved in the apartment and that technician at the time actually did some work and there were parts ordered. the moron of a representitive told me the $97.33 was for a tech coming out to lock the tank. i told her that made absolutely no sense whatsoever because if i wasn't charged for the tank to be locked why in the hell am i getting charged for it to get unlocked when it has to get unlocked either way for them to fill the tank. that by the way i paid $288 dollars for. so that's $288 plus $97.33 for what i do not know. i spoke to my landlord about it and he said that he is responsible for all service charges; so it seems that they have been billing both of us for the same thing. essentially a double billing. this is a terrible company, with nincompoops working as customer service agents. i refuse to pay that bill!!!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lea D.Rhinebeck, NY403Nov 7, 2016Updated review
I have to admit, the response to posting here, on yelp, was astounding. The next day we received a call to resolve the issues. Everything seemed fine and dandy, no payment was due to pick up our tanks. That was the call on 10/19, the tanks were picked up this past week, so it took two weeks, understandable. Though, what is not understandable is receiving a bill for $7.06. It is not about the amount, obviously, it is about having the gall, after the issues, to attempt to collect $7.06. Although, it did make me laugh, so thank you for that. I also have extra lawn ornaments of cement blocks, since they took the tanks and left the blocks, but okay, It just shows their integrity.
Positives:
The phone call following up our yelp review the next day to try to settle all issues. So, +1 star.
Cons:
Everything else and that it took a yelp review to get some help.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 18, 2016Previous reviewAbsolutely terrible, horrible. $2.49 per lb of propane when the market value is $1.89 per lb. $2.49 was the "deal" they were going to give us because they couldn't match the price we were offered by another company. That was near the end of our experience. Our first experience was at our old home, we got a delivery that wasn't supposed to be for us, but for our neighbor. We saw him arguing with the company to not be charged while we were arguing with the company to not charge us as we weren't expecting delivery. Second, experience, they came to our current home to run the new line for a dryer and stove, ran it incorrectly, didn't clean up the mess they created when they cut through the tile, attempted to shrug that off. Third, was upgrading to a bigger tank, changing our boiler to propane. The person who was supposed to complete the estimate never came out, when they finally came out, the guy could not give us a price and told us he didn't know, but only knew what tank sizes we needed. Wasting my husband's time, wasting time off from work. Then we talk to someone in the office after being on hold for a half hour to be transferred around to finally a sales person, who for 3 major appliances gave us the price of $2.49 a lb. Originally attempting to charge us two hours of labor, we said nope. Called around, found a company who offered us $1.99 a lb. Paraco then is now trying to charge around $110.00 to take the tank away and to end the residential service agreement. My husband asked for the paper to be emailed to him, they did, but not the side which states the charge of $110.000. We offered to drop it off, they said they would still have to charge us. They said they will refund us the difference in what is left of the propane by the market rate, not the rate they are charging customers for the propane. So we said no again, we won't be paying that charge, the response we received was, "well, it will be going to collections then."

Worst company to do business with. Suppose to come today to remove a propane tank of which they charging me $200 to remove. Made arrangement took day off and as of noon told they still coming. I have escalators coming tomorrow where tank sits. I'm told now my dispatch for today dropped off the schedule and no explanation why. Asked for supervisor of dispatch and told they are away. I can't get an eta for tomorrow and now workers for driveway arriving. They lied up until the time they were suppose to come I called over 4 times to confirm. If they don't come tomorrow I'll report to EPA as it is sinking in driveway in the mud. Very poor customer experience and they just ask their contact centers agents to lie and take the brunt of unhappy customers. Would not trust anything they commit to.
Their owners should be ashamed of themselves and ways of doing business. This is why everyone leaves ! We have choices and if they want to retain customers they need a customer service overhaul.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

If I could give them negative stars I would. Their customer service was unbelievably incompetent. Just installing the service took many phone calls and then they showed up on the wrong day. When they did show to install a new tank I later got a message saying I would be charged for not having called them in advance to notify them that the tank was under 30% full - when I just got a tank that day. So now we are left with an empty tank (no hot water or stove) and was put on hold for 45 minutes while they tried to figure this out. This is not the first incident like this, but since they are part of the fuel coop I decided to try them out again. I deeply regret it.

Literally left me out in the cold. Like so many other stories I see posted here. During a regular refuel visit as a new homeowner. They didn't call or notify me of the visit and they locked out my tanks and disconnected them from my house. No call during the visit, no call to follow-up, no resolution steps from their side. Several calls and days into freezing temperatures and hoops I've jumped through and I still don't have service restored. I suppose they're busy locking out and disconnecting other people. They suggested I get space heaters for the freezing nights and no hot water they've left me with for the 5 days.

Dont go to paraco if you have a low income they are no help. There website says flexible payment options and it's a lie I owe a little over $600 they want me to pay half of it or my account will stay on hold And they won't give me a delivery I have 5 kids and down to less than 20 in My tank. I'm offering to pay what I can and it's still not good enough it's either I pay half or no delivery. It's insane i wish I could switch good luck trying to call and get a nice representative they are all so rude and have such a nasty attitude and don't work with you at all.

I've used Paraco for the past 3 years, they were the current provider for propane when I purchased my house so I never considered switching. They have been reliable for delivery and their customer service is adequate. My main complaint is that there are extra fees every time you turn the corner. When my account opened they informed me of the annual lease fee for the tank ($140), in addition to this they charged an inspection fee to come inspect the tank upon ownership transfer (wish was more than $100 although I can recall the exact amount). There propane rate is also not competitive when comparing to other providers. Upon cancellation of my account they informed me that I owed another $199 to have them come pick up their tank. The company I'm switching to is much more transparent and there are no surprise fees. I'm getting a free install, free inspection, free pickup if I cancel in the future, and free inspection if I ever smell propane. On top of this I'm paying a much better rate per gallon.

Oil and gas prices ok but service is horrible. Never there when a repair is needed. Then when they come out they usually don't have basic parts in stock. Like a circulation pump !!! Customer service horrible. No accountability. Cancelled 3 accounts the other day with them after 7 years.

Do not call them for any repairs for your pool heaters. Completely ripped off and they never showed. 2 years chasing them down to finish repair and then they disappear and give shoddy service.
A huge disappointment. Very expensive rates.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robyn L.Williamsburg - South Side, Brooklyn, NY07Jun 22, 2021
Vince Campbell-Saugerties NY-installed my oven after we had another person come out and fail to do so-we did not have the right parts thanks to Lowe's forgetting to include - he did quickly and proficiently and moved the entire unit by himself - I'm happy I have my oven finally installed. Thank you
