About the Business
Once Upon A Child is a locally owned and operated childrens' resale store. We know that money doesn't grow on trees and that children never stop growing!! Once Upon a Child is a one-stop shop for new and gently used children's clothing, furniture, equipment, and accessories. We purchased our Canton store in 2000 and opened the Monroe location in 2001 and have enjoyed it ever since!

Yesterday I went to the store twice to go pick up some clothes for my son. (They grow so fast haha) This location is always so clean, well stocked and organized. I never leave dissatisfied, not to mention the team members there are awesome! Holly (I think the manager? ) helped me out yesterday and she was so warm and inviting. Such a welcome change to dealing with a teething toddler and winter storm all day! Her and the other great ladies there just really made my day brighter. Thank you!

Way too picky when you try to sell to them!! I had boys clothing in perfect shape they wouldn't take.

I usually love going in here. The staff are always really nice and friendly. With that said, I went in a few days ago to get my son some new jeans. When I went up I didn't get the really sweet girl I normally do. Instead I got a blonde woman, she cashed me out and was very rude and short with me. It was like she was trying to push me out the door and was trying to get me to leave by being rude. So rude that I was shocked! I know sometimes you have a bad day but I draw the line at being talked down to. I have never been spoken to like that before at this location. I usually get the really tall girl who is super nice. Maybe next time I can politely ask for another worker who is nicer and knows good customer service.

too picky. used toys are not new toys. if you want new then pay the price. half of what you refuse I have sold on my own and got a good price for them. I bet if you took things on consignment you could sell a lot of what you turn down. I can understand if they are broken or missing pieces. If not by used for less and know it wouldn't look brand new or buy new and pay full price and then go over it with a magnifying glass. Get serious.

I wanted to like this place...i really did.. *sigh* ok, my biggest beef is with what they will and won't purchase. I get that if any item is dirty or scratched they can't sell it. But I swear they take out microscopes to see things that are not there. Case in point: my brother got married last October, my daughter was in the wedding with a beautiful white dress. As soon as they were married and the pictures were taken she fell asleep and I immediately sealed get dress in a garment bag. I had it drycleaned and took it to this once upon a child. an older lady behind the counter took the dress out and gave it a close look over and said "were not taking this bc there is a large stain on the front" I looked at it and there was no stain! So I just looked at her confused and said "where" and she made some general motion with her hand over the front of the dress and said"we just can't take it" I was a bit embarrassed standing there with another confused employee staring at some invisible spot she insisted existed. Needless to say I left. HOWEVER strange this incident I assumed it was isolated, so I returned this time with a very nice wooden Eddie Bauer highchair. I was told to drop it off, fill out some paper and call back around 645 that night....ok ill play along...so I do just that..waited than called, NO answer...i sent an email to what I assume is the store email, and got a response ( from a manager?)Who's letter sounded like it was nothing new! So I go in the next day to see if they have an offer for me about the high chair. They tell me that "we can't accept this because it has minor scratches" -_- really. And on top of that I was confronted by a sarcastic employee who said"oh so your the one who called last night and didn't get an answer? Sorry you had troubles" and went back to her register. So fed up...i lug this heavy highchair back out to my car, noone asked me if I needed help, even with the door. That said, i will never return.
