My experience with this funeral home was not positive. Their staff was inconsiderate and very hard to deal with. Add to that that their parking situation and processions to the cemetery are a mess. I wouldn't recommend them.

Buyer, beware in the most difficult times! These men are NOT honest and certainly do not disclose all information you may need......for example, they graciously offered to provide the pallbearers but NEVER told us it would cost us $600.00. OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When my grandmother passed away in December of 2019, my family called upon O'Donnell Funeral Home to handle her funeral arrangements. We met with Anthony O'Donnell who treated our family with genuine kindness and compassion in a very difficult time. Mr. O'Donnell walked us through all of our options, explaining the different services we could choose, and helping us stay within our budget. Anthony was able to answer all of our questions and keep our large family on track in order to make important deadlines in the process. Anthony, Diane, Brianna and the entire team at O'Donnell Funeral Homes created a beautiful and fitting tribute to my Grandmother. We truly cannot thank them enough and would recommend them highly to any family in their time of need.
Sincerely,
The Sullivan FamilyHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jarrett G.Boston, MA181May 18, 2018
Poor ethics and communication. I have a difficult family and I was trying to reason with Anthony O'Donnell but that proved to be impossible. To this day, I do not know if, where or when my parents are buried and if their remaining wishes were carried out. Anyone in Salem knows my family and what they have done to the community. But that meant nothing to Mr. Anthony O'Donnell. As long as he got paid, then he could care less about the emotional pain a family member could suffer from his actions or lack of. This was a respectable place to turn to but since the founder has passed, Anthony and his team have taken it in a different direction. Again, poor ethics and poor communication made a bad situation even worse. Losing a loved one is tough enough. Shame on them!

Anthony and his staff are absolutely wonderful. They helped us immensely in our time of need. My brother passed away unexpectedly which left us overwhelmed and unprepared. Anthony and his staff were beyond helpful and set up a beautiful service for my brother. The O'Donnell Funeral Home really helped ease the pain and stress that comes with losing a loved one. They made us feel like family and allowed us to say goodbye to our loved one in peace. Our family is beyond grateful for them and all that they did. It was a beautiful and heart warming service.

Don't know about their services, but BAD NEIGHBORS. Taking down trees - healthy or not without any notification of neighbors. Shows their compassion or lack thereof, I think.

Anthony O'Donnel gave us the creeps. He seemed way more fixated on his own financial success than anything else. It was his lack of compassion and the shocking, sickening smirk in the face in of our misery that made me never want to do business there.

Not nice people. Recently bought property in our neighborhood, they came in and took down every tree with no notification or warning and without any care of what it would do to the neighborhood. Will never do business with these people.

The first word(s) that comes to mind is "transnational" or "emotionless".
I understand that death is a commodity for the staff, but at least try to hide it. My father lost his mother, and was grieving at the alter. During my fathers grieving a white haired gentleman approached me and said "can we wrap this up? This is why we asked you to come early because of this stuff". Apparently he was concerned that services were starting and he didn't want people to see "that" - again, death my be a commodity for them but I felt a true emptiness from this individual. "That" was my father grieving the loss of his mother, crying over the alter. Our family was shocked at the lack of compassion, and everyone that witnessed this interaction was in shock. Additionally, Typically (based on my experiences at past funeral homes) there's a turn down period of about a half hour. The second the services ended (7:00PM) the white haired gentleman rushed us out and sped off in his Toyota truck, this man was clearly ready to go home. If you cherish the person that's passed, increase your budget, it goes a long way.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
