New York Combat club is a great place to train your mixed martial arts skills. They have dedicated Muay Thai, BJJ, no-gi jiu jitsu, boxing and MMA classes. The Instructors are all very professional and talented, with combined experience of multiple decades of training and competing.
What I really enjoy about NYCC is that classes are still very small, so you get plenty of attention and mat time. At the same time, you have very talented people training with you. There are no egos or bullshit attitudes, everyone is there to train and help you train.
They also offer foundational BJJ courses for beginners that allow newbies to get a feel of how techniques progress.
All in all, NYCC is a great place to train and offers an excellent value for the price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aaron S.Brooklyn, NY2914Oct 12, 2018
I love NYCC!
Amazing gym for training Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. The coaches are thorough, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about all of their respective disciplines. I've been training with NYCC for more than a year now and I feel like I've grown tremendously as a martial artist but also as a human.
Classes are still relatively small, so you get lots of 1-1 attention and mat time. That being said, all of the instructors structure their classes in ways that allow you to learn the nuances of Muay Thai, BJJ or MMA while also being open enough for students of all skill levels.
All of the students are extremely friendly and supportive, there's a real community vibe with everyone there and the environment is extremely ego free, which just makes the community aspect even better.
The facilities are super clean and the towel service is awesome! Highly recommend if you are looking to get fit, start your martial arts journey or compete in the future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Neema F.Manhattan, NY577302Oct 16, 2018
I come here pretty consistently and I've previously trained Muay Thai and BJJ before and I have to say the instructors they have here are top-caliber, the community is welcome and diverse, and it's a lot of fun.
Almost all of the instructors they have are either professional-level, or close to, yet they are very welcoming so no need to feel intimidated by that. Also, each of them have a simple way of explaining things to make sure you understand the lesson/technique - this is especially true for jiu jitsu as I always felt BJJ was too complicated for me but the instructors made it much easier for me to follow and understand.
As far as the community goes, the people you train with are at varying levels and skills, and every one of them are approachable and easy to train with. They'll push you but not kill you (unless you really want them to). All in all, great academy for the price with everything in one roof.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Benjamin M.Malvern, PA041Sep 27, 2018
NYCC is family to me. I could not have asked for better place or community of people to start and grow my love for Jiu Jitsu! The facilities are top notch, the teaching is first rate, there's no egos and everyone is super welcoming.

I can't say enough good things about this program to do it justice. All of the instructors are super helpful, encouraging, and easy to work with. The students are also very friendly and patient with beginners which is awesome and it's easy to make friends. This is definitely a great experience that people should try.
