Northwoods Dentistry - Medford

I had a very sensitive tooth and needed to resolve an issue as soon as possible. I booked the first available appointment which was three weeks away. I notified the receptionist what insurance I had on the phone. When I arrived at the office I showed my insurance card right away and it was scanned. Then I sat down to fill out the paperwork since it was my first time at the office. I didn't finish it and I was rushed to be seen right away. The doctor spent 3 minutes the most looking at my problem and said I had to come back to fix the loose filling. Then he left the office and said to his stuff "See you next week". It was on a Tuesday. They only took couple x-rays and wanted to request the rest of them from my previous doctor's office. I also did the cleaning, which I was due for. The quality of the cleaning was questionable as the hygienist said "I didn't have much to clean". I was able to get next appointment in another few weeks. Meanwhile I couldn't chew on my left side. I left the office. Next day I received a call that my insurance is not accepted there and I have to pay the full bill out of pocket. I was in shock to say the least. In my 10 years in US I was always notified what will I have to pay up front. Not at this office. I kindly requested for a discount since I had to pay cash and I was told I would not get one. Crazy enough you can get free first evaluation and all x-rays at Aspen Dental in Wausau with no insurance. I had one and still had to pay a lot anyway.
I learned my lesson and will always make sure and ask the receptionist to verify my insurance first. They blamed it all on me and rejected to cooperate. Thankfully I was in town only for few months and will not have to deal with that type of customer service again.

I moved here from Detroit and was due for a 6 month cleaning. I looked around Medford and Thorp and the dental offices were backed up close to six months. I was happy when I got an appointment with Northwoods for the next day. I wasn't able to find any reviews for this dental office, but was thrilled to get in for an appointment so quickly. I was very impressed from the moment I walked in. The waiting area was clean, organized and modern. They even had a mini fridge with cold water bottles. The staff was incredible, from the check in to the hygienist to the dentist. Tracy, the hygienist, was a joy with a bubbly personality and excellent skills, totally putting me at ease and doing an excellent job cleaning my teeth. Dr. Doyle was friendly and thorough. I had an exceptional experience at Northwoods Dentistry!!!!
