Amazing care by Dr. Newman and staff! Super accommodating and helpful staff. Quick appointments. So attentive. Can't say enough good things. Oh and of course I'm 20/20 vision now so that's amazing!

There's so much I can say. But the jist of it is that I am unhappy with my results. I opted for the PRK because that was the best option for me. The doctor whom I had my consultation with told me that it could take up to a year to have my final results. It's now been a year and in addition to still having astigmatism ( which I was told would be fixed from the surgery), I can't see clearly up close or at night. I wish I could go back in time and not have done the surgery but it's done.

I had such a great experience with Newman Lasik. They made the process extremely easy and made me feel very comfortable. I am generally a squeamish person, you know, the thought of getting your eyeballs lasered took some time to get uses to, but I am so glad I went to Dr. Newman. The process itself took literally seconds per eye. And now a year later I still have 20/15.

I recently had PRK done with Newman Lasik, but this review is for the Daly City office. The previous review mentioned that the staff was pushy, which I found absolutely not true. I felt no pressure to choose a more expensive procedure. In fact, there was no pressure to choose Newman Lasik at all! The staff spent their time answering my questions and were patient in addressing any concerns I had.

The office is a bit small but as previously mentioned, this location is for consultation only. There was no wait for my eye exam except a quick form to fill out. I was in and out in 45 minutes and glad I chose Newman Lasik. If you are thinking of lasik give Newman Lasik a call. The staff are super friendly and even gave my dad's car a jump on the day of the surgery to make sure I was going to make it home okay! Now that is customer service.

I came here for my pre lasik consultation, by the time i left i was 100% clear on the type of procedure I wanted and what was going to happen during the procedure. They are only open on mondays and wednesdays here, tuesday and thursday in the eastbay. I scheduled an appointment one week after my consultation because i was sure i wanted the procedure done. The actual procedure is done in Hercules by Dr Newman, who is very gentle and assuring with the procedure. I found Newman Lasik through an ad and decided to do it through their practice. Operation was completely successful and two separate doctors mentioned i may end up with better than 20/20. Fast forward to the day after the procedure and I decided to come here to do my post lasik checkup. Everything was fine with my recovery and i was on my way out.

Two things i have to mention is that there was NEVER any waiting when i was at this location and that Dr. Tiffany Leung has a very nerve calming voice and was very very friendly through out the checkups and exams.

I've worn glasses since grade school and I've always HATED IT! I am near sided and slightly astigmatic. Plus I work in an industry where image is extremely important yet I've always had a fear of possibly loosing my vision if I had the LASIK procedure.

I had my consultation at their Daly City office. During my consultation they not only made me feel extremely welcome and comfortable, they made sure I thoroughly understood the procedure, recovery process and possible side effects after having the surgery. Especially given the fact that I had to have the PRK procedure done (they made sure I understood some people experienced EXTREME PAIN,) they went above and beyond to make sure I was prepared prior to the surgery.

Day of the surgery I met doctor Newman at their Hercules office. He has to be one of the nicest and funniest doctors I've ever met! Very personal and I definitely got the feeling from him and his staff that they were going to take care of me and my "new eyes!"

The procedure it self took about 15 mins ( longer due to PRK) and from the moment I stood up from the table it was like a whole new world!!

The Newman staff not only made sure I was comfortable when I left but they also called me over the weekend to make sure I was feeling ok and just to see how I was doing! If you've ever had surgery before you know how disconnected doctors and there staff can be from their patients and that's just NOT the case with Newman!! Incredibly knowledgeable, incredibly friendly and a truly world class group of doctors and staff! If you ever "think" you might want to do LASIK, NEWMAN definitely should be your first call! Why trust your eyes to just anyone?

Btw if you have to do PRK don't worry, for a 28 year old female who has a low tolerance for pain it's was not bad at all. Just felt like sand in your eyes that comes and goes. But the minute they take off the protective lenses it's smooth sailing!

      First to Review

My mom went to the Sacramento office a year earlier for Lasik and raves about it. I thought all of the offices would be the same and since this was closest to me, I made an appointment for a consultation. Boy was I wrong! Its super hard to open the front door and when you get into the waiting room it is very uninviting. It's a small room with white tile flooring, a few chairs, and an empty secretary desk. I walked in and had to look around the office to find someone to help me. I found the Doctor in the back, she said they would be with me in a few mins, 10 mins later she came out and gave me papers which took another 10mins to fill out. I was finally seen by the doctor, she was nice but seemed a little confused since she discovered I would have to have PRK because of my thin corneas (which is normal). Anyway, the worst part of all was when I had to speak with the "Pricing Associate" (think his name was Ron). He seemed like a used car sales man, he tried his hardest to push their more expensive surgery on me, insisting that the surgery Dr. Newman performed on my mom one year earlier was "dangerous" and "outdated". Seriously? I think Dr. Newman begs to differ.. Fortunately no surgeries are performed at this center. They only do consultations. I wonder if Dr. Newman has ever even seen this facility, my guess is he would probably shut it down.

2 stars for the FREE consultation, I'm surprised they don't charge for this. The doctor thoroughly evaluated my vision and offered to write me a prescription for an eye infection I had from an allergic reaction a few days prior. A new setting minus the sales guy would be a 5 star review in my book. By the way I ended up having the surgery at the Sacramento office.

I'll be writing two reviews for Newman Lasik Centers. One for the Daly City location and one for the Hercules location since that is where the actual procedure takes place.

For reference, I did the free consultation with Dr. Newman and two of the other primary/biggest providers in the Bay Area and chose Dr. Newman essentially on comfort level with Dr. Newman, price, referral, research on the equipment/process suggested and Yelp reviews.

I understand what V.T. is saying about the office itself. It is quite barren and plain. Sometimes there has been a receptionist there but other times it has only been Dr. Leung. Personally, I don't judge Lasik procedures on how nice the carpet or waiting room chairs might be or if there is someone sitting at the front desk to greet me. I think there are more important things in play here.

My initial consultation was done here and I met with Dr. Newman and Ron. At first, Ron does come off a little too "salesy", but he's a really nice guy and the best part is that he always responded to my emails very quickly. Also, he took the time to ensure that all of my questions were answered. Dr. Newman is very patient and friendly. He also does a great job of explaining the options and answering questions. During my visit, they actually openly said that I would be a good candidate for a few different options, including the cheapest option. I never felt for a second that upselling was their goal.

All of my appointments after the procedure have been at this office with Dr. Leung. I can not speak highly enough of Dr. Leung. Whatever Dr. Newman is paying her is money well spent. As Benjamin mentions, she is extremely friendly and calming. She is also quite patient and understanding and is just one of those people you meet in life that puts a smile on your face every time you talk to her. I might actually even be looking forward to these appointments just because she is so pleasant (and because she puts up with my stupid jokes).

In summary, if you want the lavish large waiting room and perfect lighting (otherwise known as overhead costs that will be passed on to you) then you can easily choose one of the other providers on Yelp that has a lot of reviews. I went to a couple of their consultation locations and can attest that they are higher up on the grandness scale

For me, I am very pleased with what I received from Dr. Newman and his team. The procedure went well and the recovery was easy. My vision is easily 20/15 six months after and I have had no complications or problems with my vision in any way.

Thank you Dr Newman and his entire staff! I had LASIK procedure done yesterday and the result is fantastic. I had a few hours of burning sensation after the procedure, just like they told me. I followed the eyes drops order as prescribed. But then, I had the sandy sensation in one eye even up until now. I was a little worry that the flap wasn't in the right place or in fact something was left in there. I called Dr. Newman very early in the morning and the lovely man answered and is so willing to see me right away. Got to his office in Hercules at 8:30. After he examined me, he assured me that the flap is in perfect condition and that there was nothing left inside the eye and that the sensation will go away. He offered me some advice on the different lubricating eye drops. He is very reassuring and I totally trust him! Now, I don't have to worry that there is something in my eye. I am going to relax and recover from this. My vision is perfect. Dr. Newman and his staff are perfect.
