Not helpful, not patient friendly. I called to make a follow up visit after my daughter had a metal spacer installed in October. We were never instructed by the doctor on when the spacer needs to come out.
Childrens Dental center is out of network for my insurance. I brought my daughter to my neighborhood dentist where her dad and I go, to ensure her teeth are growing properly. They are in Network, close and had an opening.
The neighborhood dentist did not touch the spacer, took X-rays, and recommended we go back to the children's dental center since they don't handle hardware in the mouth.
The New Orleans children's dental center now Refuses to see my daughter because they claim I ended service with them, which I did Not. I didn't know I needed permission from children's dental center. I was focused on the care of my daughters teeth and thought a checkup was a Good thing.
I would not recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeanne P.San Francisco, CA01May 7, 2023
Dr. Axelrad has been my kids dentist for 8 years. She's been amazing and patient with them and they now actually enjoy and look forward to their appointments. We recently had a situation where we needed to be seen that day and Dr. Axelrad went above and beyond and met with us at 4:30pm on a Friday to make sure we were taken care of and didnt have to go throught the weekend in pain. She even checked in on us over the weekend to make sure the symptoms were getting better. I cannot recommend her enough. She's an excellent doctor and genuinely cares for her patients.

Put a metal retainer in my 9 year old daughter and now that that's time for it to be removed, 6 months later, will not take it out because we had a checkup somewhere closer to home in between. I've spent over $2500 there and ended up here.

If you don't turn in your paperwork 1 day prior to appointment, you can NEVER schedule another appointment EVER!!! It doesn't matter the circumstances. I have never heard of this type of policy. I would never support a medical facility like this and would gladly spend my money elsewhere!!!!

We really enjoy Dr. Axelrod. She is kind, patient and very knowledgeable. What I have also appreciated her team's commitment to continuing education, as she regularly attends pediatric dental conferences and implements the newest technology and techniques. This group is compassionate, smart and on-it.

It wasn't too long after our son's teeth started to appear that we knew we would have to eventually start searching for a pediatric dentist. This can be a daunting task. But after checking out numerous pediatric dental websites, looking at Yelp reviews and asking friends and acquaintances, we decided to give New Orleans Children's Dental Center a try. This turned out to be one of the best medical decisions we made for our son. And now, after 4-5 visits, I can definitely give an informed review.
The office is conveniently located on Canal Blvd near Harrison, therefore, it's conveniently located. Upon our arrival on our very 1st visit, I was happy to see the building was brand new. The inside is so much nicer than I could have ever expected. The waiting room is very comfortable and there is a small room with several permanently mounted I-Pads for the kids to play with while they wait.
The patient rooms, just like the rest of the office, is spotless; and I'm talking white glove test spotless. But it takes a lot more than a new building and nice décor to make a great dental practice. The 2 rock stars of this practice are Doctors Claudia Cavallino and Kellie Axelrad. However, we have only seen Dr. Kellie, as she likes the kids to call her. Both doctors were trained at the LSU School of Dentistry and their additional training and advanced degrees are quite impressive. Dr. Kellie is a New Orleans native and her disposition is like no other. I have never seen such an impressive "bedside manner". Our son has a lot of anxiety regarding the dentist, but Dr. Kellie is able to put him at ease. He has had 3 minor procedures (apart from his regular cleanings) and Dr. Kellie rocked them all. She always talks to the patients in a soothing tone and always tells the patients what she is doing. But by substituting words that could possibly be scary with words that don't have a negative connotation, she keeps them at ease during an entire procedure. Some of the words she has used for our child include:
Sleepy juice instead of shot
Whistle instead of drill
Clean a tooth instead of drill a tooth
Sweet air instead of nitrous oxide.
Dr. Kellie is the kind of person you can definitely put your trust in and I cannot recommend her enough. I would be rude if I didn't comment on how awesome the support staff is. I wish I could recall all their names, but I'd like to give a special shout out to Ashleigh and Magda. I wish I could recall the name of the brunette at the front desk that types like 100 words a minute, as she is very nice too.
So there you have it. If you are in the market for a top notch pediatric dental facility, look no more, as you will be hard pressed to find a match.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Scott L.San Francisco, CA03Jun 20, 2021
Compassionate doctors who really know their stuff. Never a problem making an appointment. They will be the family dentist for a long time.

Amazing, outstanding team! They were so easy to get in with when we first moved here and have continued to be amazing to work with. My 10 year old son has had three dental urgencies and it was upper easy to text them a picture/video of my concerns and they were quick to respond and to get us in to be seen (when needed). They staff goes above and beyond for the patients and the parents. My son and I do not like the dentist but we do love this practice! Would recommend to anyone, but especially to those who have had bad experiences in the past. This team put all fear and worries aside and make you feel comfortable, cared about and listened to. They really are amazing!

My 3 year old son had Dr Kellie and she was amazing ! She talked us through everything . She did his procedure in a hospital because that was way safer to have doctors and nurses around . She even checked up on him hours after surgery she is amazing I would highly recommend her to any parent who's child is in the need of dental work! Also the staff was very nice and kept me updated with everything before time .

Well don't nobody stand up to them or disagree with them because they will call off your child's surgery. They called it off because I wrote a bad review about them!!!
My son now suffers because of how child-like they are...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
