Definitely one of the better Chinese food places in SD! The person was really nice on the phone who took my order for pick-up. She was pleasant and efficient.
We got the chicken fried rice (with extra vegetables which they actually put in!) and honey walnut shrimp which was very good. I'll definitely be ordering from here again! Thank you for a pleasant experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pamela T.San Diego, CA011Mar 1, 2024

Better than most other Chinese delivery options in the city. The mixed Veg with Tofu came with a pleasingly light and subtle sauce that elevated the natural flavors of the generous variety of fresh Veg (carrot, string beans, mushroom, water chestnut, bamboo shoots, Broccoli and green pepper). I asked for special order sesame tofu in the Comments section, but no dice.
The chicken fried rice is loaded with egg and meat, and the wings are Crispy and flavorful. The menu is ample, and left me wanting to try new dishes next time.
And they are one of the very few spots that still includes fortune cookies--small detail that leaves a big positive impression.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sara R.San Francisco, CA1219Dec 13, 2023
This was our first time ordering from this place and we are impressed. Place is clean and smells delicious. Our food was very tasty and was brought out to our vehicle. We will order from New Maxim's Palace from now on.
Thank you so much!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 9212353Jun 6, 2023
I had a terrible craving for Chinese food. Maxim's is close by to me that I decided to take a chance despite the ratings. Can't rate on service or ambiance but my food came pretty fast. Beef with snow peas was delicious (little water chestnut heavy if you don't like 'em)! Kung pao was a little too sweet for me. The salt and pepper wings also had a sweetness but came super crunchy and perfectly cooked.
Honestly will order again when I need to fix my craving for Chinese food since it's definitely better then Great Wall expressHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Danielle B.San Diego, CA025Mar 10, 2024
Great food and service, there are also lots of vegetarian options. We will be coming back regularly!

This is one of my favorite Chinese spots here in SD! It's a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of a parking lot! My all time favorite thing on the menu are the salt and pepper wings. They're so delicious, I order them at least 1x/week. I also really enjoy the beef and broccoli, fried rice, and chow mein! The service here is also great!

First time eating in since pandemic. They still have a lunch combo with a wide range of choices for a reasonable price. I had the green pepper beef which had a good brown gravy, onions a choice of rice, a veg egg roll and egg flower soup for $11 with tax. They also brought crispy wonton strips with sweet & sour sauce and hot Chinese mustard.. The ice water tasted of lemon slices and was quite nice with lot of ice.

This was my first time trying this place, but I ordered the food to go through DoorDash. The reviews were not promising for this place but I decided to give it a try anyway, & I'm glad I did the Mongolian beef was delicious! Very tender meat, well seasoned, & it's covered in a yummy teriyaki like sauce. It goes perfect over a bed of white rice. Based on my to-go order alone I would be willing to dine in and enjoy other dishes as well as experience the dine in service and full experience. I've driven by the place before and it does seem small, I don't know how crowded they typically get, but again, I wouldn't mind eating there. I had been looking for good Chinese food in the area and to be honest the food I ordered tasted better than expected. So I'll likely be back to try some of their other dishes.

The food is not good at all. Panda express is better and cheaper. Wont be back sorry. the meat seemed old, noodles is dry, chicken is hard. Very disappointed. Waste of money. HIRE A NEW COOK!
