Went for brunch again yesterday, and of course the restaurant itself is still nice and spacious. We arrived and the hostess was very nice and sat us down almost instantly.
Once seated, it did take a while for anyone to come over to even take our drink orders.
I ordered the pancakes again, and shared them with my son as they are so big. We both enjoyed them! I wasn't a fan of the turkey sausage. Whenever i come back i definitely won't be getting those again but the sorry sausage is much better. The home fries were fresh and flavorful.
The service was slow but the food was definitely good.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Dec 11, 2023Previous reviewAttended brunch here a few Saturdays ago. I got the pancakes, with sausage, and potatoes. The pancakes were HUGE -- the size of a plate. I wasn't able to finish them all but they were sooo good!
I also tasted some cinnamon dessert type of thing they had (forgot the name) and it was very good as well.
The service was a little slow, however, i think it was a little more packed than expected.
It is on a golf course, so they have a very cute patio. We did sit inside as it is a little cold out, however, the outside is very nice on a spring/fall day. - Nick H.Newport News, VA0811Feb 19, 2024
Not impressed with Nest.
I went with my wife, and our friends. We arrived just after opening (about 8:50 am). There was no one inside, and we weren't sure if the business was even open. No one was at the hostess stand. My friend's wife had to go find a server to help us.
When we were finally seated, our entire interaction with wait staff and management felt very forced, and disingenuous. We were told right up front there was a 20% gratuity added, which really just killed the mood. I could tell our server was trying to be attentive, but they couldn't seem to remember anything we ordered, right down to our drinks. They constantly had to be corrected, and appeared flustered and nervous.
The food was underwhelming to say the least. The bacon tasted old (it hadn't gone bad, but it was well on its way), as was the pulled pork in the breakfast tacos. It was obvious that some of our food was left to sit while other dishes were still being prepared. Nothing was fresh, tasted particularly flavorful, or seemed prepared with any kind of care.
While it's in an absolutely beautiful location, right by the Kiln Creek Golf Resort, the location and ambiance is soured by mediocre food and service that tries hard but falls short.
I guess if you get people drunk enough, they'll find food in any condition delicious.
We won't be going back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 39188534Dec 3, 2023
We hadn't been to the Nest before but knew it was by the Kiln Creek Golf course. We went to the area but didn't see any signage so we called the restaurant and instead of helping by describing what building they were in, they referred us to the website for the address. We already had the address and didn't know which was the hotel, restaurant, golf club because there wasn't clear signage. The person said there would be no wait for seating 2. When we wandered around the buildings, we saw the glass marked on the restaurant but no other signage. They were resetting from a large party that had already left and were asked to wait 20 min while they cleared tables and reset. This was disappointing since we were just told there was no wait when we called.
When we were sat, we were given waters and they our coffee and hot chocolate. Unfortunately my hot cocoa wasn't hot and wasn't melting the whip cream. I left our server know and they remade it and it was definitely hot. We started with the peach cobbler donuts which were tasty and full of spice. I had the biscuits and gravy breakfast bowl. The potatoes were well seasoned but the biscuits could have used more gravy. I had enough food to take home for breakfast the following day too.
The manager came to check on us and we showed her a small hard clear plastic that was on my husband's sandwich. Now sure what it was from but they credited the cost of his breakfast.
We gave this a try but I'm not sure we'll be back in a hurry. I just wasn't as impressed as I've been with other brunch spots in our area.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 11413Apr 13, 2024
Enjoy the feel of the restaurant; chill, low key upscale-ish. Our waitress was nice and helpful. She convinced me to get the jerk lime chicken tacos which is a popular choice.
I'll be honest; I wish it had a little more food, had some, seemingly random tortilla chips, but the taste of the tacos was great! And that's what matters.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rick M.Lynn Haven, FL591710Apr 21, 2024
Food was great! Saw quite a few reviews that were less than flattering. We were sat immediately. Server was very attentive and had a nice personality. We had a group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. Everyone was very happy with their food. Steak and eggs came with a chimichurri sauce that was excellent. I had the omelet with a side of gravy for the biscuit. Excellent as well. My wife had breakfast tacos. Huge! Also tastes great. Very happy we stumbled across this place. Hidden in the golf club but worth it!

Overall: 3/5. Food was average, but plated beautifully. Service was reminiscent of European style. Atmosphere was so-so.
Food: 3/5. The vegan Cherry Lemonade French Toast was pretty good - 4/5. The toast was nicely bartered and deep fried which was unusual, but not bad. The vegan patties could use a little work and definitely tasted plant based. The eggs themselves, if they were vegan, definitely tasted authentic. The Big-scuits & gravy could use a lot of work - 2/5. The gravy was a little bland, the biscuits completely dry. Only redeeming factor was that it was a larger portion. Breakfast tacos - 3/5. It had exactly what it had listed. The salsa on top was pretty good and had a little spice to it.
Service: 1/5. Absolutely terrible. I went on a Saturday for brunch and took 5-10 minutes to be seated while the room was relatively empty. Another 30 minutes to get orders. Then 1 hour for our food to come. I had to constantly flag someone down, and ask for refilled on my drink only to get a snarky comment back "you thought I forgot about you, huh?" It would be worth going back if they figured out their staffing.
Atmosphere: 3/5. Right next to the golf course so wide and open spaces to dine. They have indoor and covered outdoor which is nice in the fall weather.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - victoria k.Fort Lauderdale, FL1816Mar 23, 2024
We went on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, service was really quick, our host was great, and it had a nice ambiance. I got the shrimp and grits with no sausages (personal choice) and it was delicious. A bit salty for my taste but great overall. I also tried the lavender honey lemonade and loved it

Came here with my friend after having drinks at another restaurant in which we weren't fond of the menu.
This restaurant is located at a golf club. The restaurant was empty and we pretty much had it to ourselves. The vibe in the evening is a dim mood but also open as well. Staff was friendly, welcoming and patient as we scanned the menu over and over to make a decision.
We got the mussels to share which were gorgeous in this nice wine sauce. We also both ordered one of the featured dinner items which was the Filet Carbonara which was a balsamic filet mignon in a bold sauce with veggies. The pasta was definitely worth the price with beautiful well cooked pieces of fillet over the bed of pasta.
I've heard great things about their brunch so I'm excited to come back to try and also see how service is when they're a bit busy.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2023
My first time finding this gem hidden away in Kiln Creek. I was so excited they had a vegan breakfast option. The atmosphere and employees were super nice. My server Ravenne was excellent. Professional, friendly and super helpful. Thanks!

We visited Nest on a Monday for brunch. It's right onsite at the country club. We made reservations on OpenTable and it was quick and easy. When we arrived, we were greeted by a hostess. She was very friendly and attentive. We were quickly seated. Our waitress arrived shortly afterward and took our orders. The restaurant is a decent size. It was very clean and cozy.
Apparently, it was mimosa Monday and mimosas were $3. We each has two. Their were great! We ordered the Tradition (eggs, surrey sausage, cheese grits, and a biscuit) and the omelette with a side of grits and French toast. The meal was good. Everything was cooked to order.
Being from the south, I despised the grits. They had a mashed potato consistency which did not sit well with me. I wouldn't recommend if you are a true southerner. The biscuit was a bit too hard for my liking as well. Everything else was good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
