We've been bringing our dog here for a decade now. Our dog can be difficult. But we've always received exceptional care and no judgment for a dog that was often poorly behaved. We've had a lot of visits over the last few months in particular as our pup is getting close to the end of her life. The care for our dog and their support has been instrmental in dealing with such a difficult journey. We are so greatful for Dr's Hambright, Foster and Jones, the staff and previous doctors at this practice.

We have New puppy he is 9 month today we take him to got neutering we so happy with the service and the Surgery went well all the staff very friendly, professional and helpful they update me all day how everything go the Docter call me soon he done with the surgery we feel so comfortable with this place and they very honest when I come in the morning they tell me how much the cost of everything but when I check out cost less because they don't have to do much they reduce the price they can easily not telling us we won't know but they so professional! And the good part they remove 5 baby teeth during the surgery and only cost me extra $25 and what a surprise for me! Because I got another estimation from another hospital Neutering and remove 5 baby teeth was $3500 and here less than $1000 if you look for veterinarian go to this place!
Ps: I don't do much review but this place deserve good reviewsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 14, 2019
I feel very fortunate that my beloved beagle has been incredibly well taken care of at Nebel Street Animal Hospital.
My dog has had nearly all of his shots, minor illnesses and something a bit more major like hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, and ear infections treated here. He also has other routine grooming procedures completed here and always comes bolting out of the treatment room triumphantly.
I credit Ms. Kelly, and the entire office staff and the veterinarian techs for helping my dog to associate this veterinarian office as somewhere he enjoys going to. Despite having painful procedures previously completed at this office, it's amazing to me that he always has the same fervent enthusiasm I only see him have when we visit the Dog Park.
Next, I cannot thank enough to Dr. Foster, Dr. Hambright, and the assisting techs for helping my dog always feel better and doing what's best for him.
Since Day 1 of my dog going there, Dr. Foster, and Dr. Hambright have always been willing teach me what I can look out for my dog to keep him healthy.
As we all know, animals cannot advocate for themselves nor can they tell us exactly what's wrong when they are feeling ill. Sometimes they also mask their symptoms which results in delays of getting help for them.
For example, because I am a first time dog owner, I didn't know how ill my dog was until I woke up one day with my dog throwing up and having bloody stool everywhere.
Thank goodness for Ms. Kelly that day for being able to have my dog get seen nearly right away even without an appointment. I will always remember how kind and patient she was with me when I called again later on in tears. My dog couldn't sit down or lay down due to pain and I nearly got bitten trying to help the dog. She consulted with Dr. Hambright right away and an alternative prescription for pain was ready for pick up in less than 20 minutes. It is always amazing to me how fast Ms. Kelly's turnaround time is knowing how busy she is at the office.
I also really like how gently Dr. Hambright approaches my dog and how thoroughly he checks my dog. I also love Dr. Foster's sense of humor, wisdom, and her ability to efficiently triage my dog and keeping all party at ease.
And these are just very few examples of why this is the only veterinary clinic I am willing to take my dog.
In sum, I would recommend anyone to take their pet to Nebel Street Animal Hospital. There is not a reason I can think of why not.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 15, 201914 check-ins
Both my former dogs were patients of Dr. Hambright dated back to 2001. Dr. Fromberg joined the practice when my second dog was still alive. Both vets are caring and compassionate. The nicest thing about bringing my dog here is that you are never rushed. With each wellness check, the Drs take their time and explain things thoroughly. They are also receptive to all your questions.
So it's no surprise that my current furever friend would be a patient here too, even though a new veterinarian opened a practice blocks from me.
When you find a good medical doctor for yourself, you'd do what you can to keep seeing them. Why wouldn't you do the same thing for your precious furbaby?Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - J V.Rockville, MD0263Oct 5, 2022
I've been going to Nebel Street Animal Hospital and Dr. Hambright for 15 years and have always felt like my dogs were truly cared for with expertise. I'm writing this review just based on my recent two visits, both to take care of my 8yr old intact female's sudden change in behavior and greyish/brownish excretions from vaginal area. First off I should say that as young as age 4, Dr. Hambright recommended spaying due to the risk of uterus infection later in life. Sure enough that's what she had. Upon diagnosis (first visit), Dr. Hambright scheduled Melody for emergency surgery at 7:30am the next morning which he would do himself. About five hours later I get a great phone call from Dr. Hambright saying Melody did well (to me that means Dr. Hambright did well) and I can pick her up after her recovery. Now, two days after surgery with expertly fitted cone around Melody's neck, she is already back to her usual self thanks to the excellent surgery by Dr. Hambright, TLC during recovery from staff, and the prescriptions. I have loved Nebel Street Animal Hospital for a long time, many more times with our past dog Brownie whom Dr. Hambright extended her quality of life by a year, etc. Lots of people say their vet is the best, but Dr. Hambright really is!

Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my fur family for more than 17 years. Your expertise, patience and caring have helped them have happy healthy lives. Thank you for answering every single question and caring for sweet Biddy who turns 17 this summer. Thank you for understanding when we are so worried. Biddy is very grateful and still purring all the time and playing too.
Thank you for being there during the pandemic.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Shelby W.Washington, DC170215262Jan 24, 2017
I have had pups my whole life so I have worked with many vets over the years. While I have been fortunate enough to never have had a terrible experience, Dr. Hambright is still leaps and bounds above the amazing vets I've worked with in the past.
It is so apparent that Dr. Hambright truly cares about each animal he treats. My pup actually gets excited to head to his office...at least until the needles come out. The dr takes the time to pet my pup until she is calm and comfortable. He is also very gentle with his examinations as not to startle her.
Lastly, he has the patience of a saint. My husband and I discussed multiple paths of treatment for our pup and he listened and gave feedback on each option. He is never looking to gauge pet-parents for money but rather to pick the best path for each patient.
While I don't want his office to get too busy because I love that I am able to get an appointment somewhat easily, I have to let everyone with fur babies know, this office is the best!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tina D.Northwest Washington, Washington, DC02Jun 29, 2019
Sad outcome but amazing care!
I brought my cat Jezebel there after a night of her throwing up, the care from everyone from the receptionist to the tech who first examined Jezebel to the Vet who was quickly rushed in when they realized she was in very bad shape was amazing. They gently went over options, costs, and strategies as they valiantly tried to save my girl. When I explained she had suffered failure to thrive as a kitten they let me go back and be with her several times while they worked on her which helped me and my girl. When we realized she wasn't going to make it they let me stay with her, never rushed me, were respectful and more importantly so caring. I can't tell you how much their attitudes, caring and compassion made this experience a positive one even with the very sad outcome.
Never hesitate to go there in an emergency situation. I'd give them 10 stars if allowed.

We found out two weeks ago that our dog has terminal liver and lung cancer. I place this update because there's probably more we could do, or we could have had more time to prepare and be with our dog had it been properly diagnosed earlier. It's sad to know she's been suffering for so long and to literally be told by the doctors that she "is fine" is unacceptable to me.
Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 8, 2020Previous reviewWe had been bringing out dog here for years as she has been fairly healthy. In February, she clearly had an ear infection (brown, smelly, waxy substance coming out of her ear). When we brought her in to get this checked out, they mentioned potentially seeing a mass however said she had an infection and prescribed a topic antibiotic and wanted to see her in a month which we thought was a long time. This continued and we used the wash and the ear drops as prescribed however the infection got worse. We called and moved up our appointment for them to give us the same recommendation as the first time. We also noticed that there was some bleeding out of her ear and sensitivity that we think happened because they were too rough with her ear which was pretty inflamed at this time. From then there was more smelly secretions, bleeding at times, and vomiting (which we now know was due to balance issues from the ear infection), etc. The third time which was now some time in April (trying to schedule appointments, etc), we still did not get any new information.
We decided to try Caring Hands which was a DRAMATICALLY different experience. They seemed to respond to our urgency to how unwell our dog was feeling. They immediately gave her a different antibiotic which was the correct antibiotic after testing and we started to see results right away. They also gave her an oral antibiotic because of how aggressive the infection was after 2 - 3 months of being told by this practice to just keep doing what we were doing with the same ridiculous ear drops that did nothing. We soon found out there was a tumor underneath the infection that required the removal of her ear canal. Had we had proper care, appropriate diagnosis, and treated the infection earlier, we could have addressed the tumor before it had spread so much. She has finally started to recover however it is now AUGUST. We could have saved ourselves a lot of stress, money, time, and not had our dog suffering had we just started with Caring Hands instead of spending any time with this practice. We stuck with them because we trusted them - had been going for years for check ups however I guess that was only helpful because she's always been healthy up to now. We were surprised that this place that came highly recommended to us, really did more harm than help in our eyes to our dog. They are all very nice, however the quality of the services were so disappointing and I put this review out there so others do not have to go through what we did.
