People are up in arms now about Proflame (aka Hertitage aka Amerigas). Many of the honest people who work there have left to create their own new business, which is called All State Propane. I was thrilled by that and just sent my tank back to Proflame. Why? The last outrage was this. I paid in advance for my tank to be filled. Even though I paid in advance, they sent me a bill for more than 100 dollars. The bill did not show my recent payment. It was designed to be confusing, actually, and there was no way to tell what the heck I was being charged with and I should not have been charged anything at all because I prepaid every cent they demanded.

Their propane rates are sky high and unfair. I was able to get my tank filled at about 50% of the cost of what Proflame is charging. Everyone I come across in town is angry at Proflame right now. But until this new company came about i had no real options for competition up here in Julian where I live. If you are unhappy with Proflame, you have a choice now, you have another company to turn to.

Whatever you do, DON'T have an open fill contract with this company for your propane tank. I just got a bill for over $1000 dollars, at $4.99 per pound. Checking competitors (specifically AllState), the quote was $2.54 per pound. No excuses or explanations from several office workers, just 'we can sign you up for a guaranteed price of $3.49 for a $119 enrollment fee. NO THANKS! Buying my own tank and shopping around, tired of years of getting ripped off by this price gouging company. Wish they had negative stars.

I have never had a "customer service" representative be more rude to me than them! UNBELIEVABLE I will fill up 5 gallon bottles for the rest of my life before I ever give these people my business! Horrible customer service!

Cancelled my 35 year old MountainProFlame account today. It wasn't always bad, but about a year ago something happened where service became hellish. Price gouging and poor customer service would be an understatement. Examples of what you might expect with MountainProFlame: paying 30% more for the price of propane than other providers, irregular delivery, being billed for another account and unable to resolve the incorrect billing, and doubling the annual tank rental from the previous year. It was only by accident that I discovered that my neighbor payed $2.70/gal. for propane, while MountainProFlame charged me $3.85/gal. (on the same day last January). When I informed MountainProFlame about their prices they were unconcerned. Anyways, there is a happy ending, I have another propane provided that has great customer services and really good prices (Western Propane Service from Santa Maria).
