People enjoy riding this ride and ranked this as one of the top inverted B&M, but for me I thought it was just okay. I prefer Banshee at King's Island even though it is not everyone's top pick. They were only running 1 train on Sunday and on Tuesday that we went, so the line will definitely move slower. Operations can be slow as well as they have to safely check each restraint. The ride itself can be a little rough, but it is fun. Definitely not reridable though as I probably get a headache. Definitely love the theme.

Good coaster with normally short wait times. This is one of the older coasters in the park so it's not as smooth as the newer ones. There is one loop in particular that is pretty aggressive. Coming from a physical therapist please do not write this if you have back issues. I've written this multiple times over the years but only once and a day because it usually gives me a mild headache. Multiple loops and drops.

This ride has been in operation since 1996!! It was the parks first inverted roller coaster. I used to ride this one all the time when I was in high school. It's incredibly intense and lots of fun. Your feet dangle off. Fast and long. There's even a zero g roll. A fun ride and in my option is better than it's rival Kumba.

One of my favorite rides at Busch gardens. It's a hanging coaster, meaning the track is on top of your seat. It has 7 upside downs including loops and corkscrews. I have been on this ride many many times and it never gets old. They gave it a "facelift" and a new paint job so it's nice and bright yellow. You can't miss it. Head to the right when you enter the park and it's just a little ways into the park. If you love upside downs and fast roller coasters, Montu is for you!

This is one of my favorite roller coasters of all time...
Montu means the falcon god of war in Egyptian - and this ride is an all-out assault and war on your senses. From the first drop you're plunged into a high-g loop that immediately gets your blood pumping. You're barely out of that loop when you're bombarded with a series of horizontal rolls and loops.
The ride is a longer coaster experience and your senses are engaged almost completely the entire time. The drops are thrilling, and by the time you disembark even the most experienced rider is feeling some vertigo from all the action.
A thrill-seekers dream ride!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Apr 27, 2019
I'm obsessed. I was terrified to try this ride. Everyone I know told me about how this is super rough and worse than Kumba thrill wise-in a bad way. I'm here to tell you a different story.
The first drop looks alarming from the road. It's a pretty high drop, although I'm not going to sit here and Google the specs. There's like 6 or 7 inversions. On a hilarious side note, you get a clear view of the classic restaurant China Latina from the top. My family thinks that is hilarious and they shout "China Latina!" every time we ride.
Anyways, this ride always has nearly zero wait because it's not the latest and greatest coaster and is tucked away in the corner. The workers will let you stay on if there's not a demand for seats. If there is then just go around and you'll have less than a five minute wait.
I can't wait to get to Busch Gardens sister park, or parent park SeaWorld tomorrow to see how Montu measures up to Kraken.
As far as BG goes, this is my number 2 coaster. #1 is a tie between SheiKra and Cheetah Hunt. Number 3 is Kumba. 4 is Cobras curse. 5 old trusty Scorpion. I haven't ridden Tigris yet even though I've had 7 trips to Busch Gardens since opening. I'm waiting till early entrance the first two weekends in May.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 1135352323Aug 18, 2019
The Montu is a super fun roller coaster that's got everything! It has the drops, takes you upside down, and twists.
The line was quick for this ride while I was there.
Don't miss out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2017
Fun fact for those who missed it: back in the day, there used to be baby alligators at the very beginning of the ride, just where the gate opens! You would dip down and slightly panic as you imagined getting your toes a little too close to the modern day dinos. I'm sure they were removed for their own health and well-being, but I do miss them whenever I ride Montu. :)
An oldie but a goodie, Montu is a staple at Busch Gardens. When it opened in '96, it was the tallest and fastest of its kind! While drastic improvements have been made to roller coasters since then, Montu still provides a thrilling ride. My favorite maneuver will always be the tight corkscrew. So much fun!
It's not the smoothest coaster at BG, but I do find it a little smoother than Kumba, BG's first roller coaster. That being said, Montu manages to make me dizzy every time I ride it, while Kumba does not! The latter is just a little rougher of a ride.
I was a little disappointed when I noticed there's no longer a photo op after the drop. Not sure what the reason would be for this. I have fond memories of looking at my cheeks fluttering in the wind in the pictures after the ride!
If you love inversion coasters, definitely check out Montu!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Patrick A.FL, FL085Aug 8, 2021
This is a great ride. 7 great inversions. Lots of fun, snappy turns. A great view. The thing holding his coaster back is the roughness. While riding you don't notice it, but once you get off the ride, you almost always have a light headache. This is a great ride, just prepare for that.
