Giving back to students, families and the community through Martial Arts Instruction and Fitness. At MTA's core you'll experience the imprint of grand traditions & values with the impact of modern techniques forged in competition. We are an Olympic taekwondo training facility centrally located near Campbell, Los Gatos, Saratoga and San Jose. Our curriculum serves students with no martial arts experience to seasoned athletes with aspirations to excel in sport taekwondo. Our value system places the highest emphasis on character development, respect, discipline, accountability and fitness. Our biggest goal in life is to bring out the very best in our members. We are a family-friendly, fun, and fast-paced place to train. Classes ranging from Pre-K to Adult Classes are offered 6 days a week. We are honored to be a part of the Martial Arts community and strong advocates of other art forms. We are often asked about the differences between Taekwondo and Karate. Here are a few: Taekwondo emphasizes kicking techniques, while Karate focuses on hand strikes. Taekwondo = Korea. Karate = Okinawa, Japan (with roots from hand fighting in China). Prearranged sequences of techniques, generally known as forms, are referred to as poomsae in Taekwondo, and kata in Karate Taekwondo is an Olympic sport. The specific postures, stances, and movements differ significantly between Taekwondo and Karate.

Master Evon is definitely one of the top martial arts instructors. I am also in the industry and have tremendous respect for this humble yet highly skilled martial artist & athlete. You will not be disappointed with his care and instruction for you and your child.

I would give Master Evon 1000 stars if the system let me! He has gave my children confidence. Every time he takes his students to competition, it doesn't matter if a child wins or loses; it only matters if they tried their best.

Bill runs a nice and safe space for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a Taekwondo School. The space is very clean and well ventilated. The people that trains there keeps it very safe. Trained there for the first time on a Tuesday evening and everyone was super welcoming.
Had a few surgeries before, and the team there was very careful and made me feel safe training there.
Overall a very nice and welcoming crew.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff L.Sunnyvale, CA381118Dec 8, 2014

Master Evon is fantastic with kids. He expects discipline but is patient and kind in getting it. While teaching his students Taekwondo, he also teaches character traits such as respect and integrity. I could not be more pleased with our choice of Taekwondo studios.

Master Evon, did not do anything for my kid and we eventually left. We tried really hard to encourage the kid and the kid tried to go with the flow and be better every day but it was clearly a one sided effort. Week after week Master Evon just did not care enough to encourage the child. He is probably only good if your child is already talented!!!

Master Evon is an excellent teacher and he is also exceptionally good with toddlers and kids. He is gentle and fun, yet teaches discipline to them. This is hard to find. He teaches the TKD forms correctly (you will be surprised how many instructors fail to do this, especially with kids) and participates in WTF tournaments, if you are interested in regional, national, Olympic TKD.

Searching for a martial arts school should not be taken lightly! For my daughter who has now been doing Taekwondo for over 2 years now, I checked out a dozen schools before selecting a great school (Taekwon Kids in Mountain View).
The decision should not be made at whim because bad schools are horrible and once you start at a lame school the foundation and fundamentals of Taekwondo will not be attained which means you have spent a ton of $$ and time getting to meaningless black belt! So moms and dads, take your time and find the right place for your kids or if you are looking for yourself, do your due diligence!!! You do not want to go to a school that is there to just make money and churn you through to black belt and unfortunately, more schools are bad than good!
I am lucky; this new school is affiliated with the amazing school that is now far away since moving. And my daughter is allowed to cross train here. The owner/head instructor/master at MTA (Modern Taekwondo Academy) in short ROCKS! He is dedicated to Taekwondo and just as importantly to his students!!!
After you look around, you will see how amazing this school is and you will make the right choice and enroll yourself or your kids here! I encourage you to do the trials and experience for yourself what MTA has to offer. William Evon embodies the essence of Taekwondo and you will be so lucky to have him as a teacher.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Devin C.Pleasant Hill, CA043May 10, 2015
Master Evon is awesome with kids. My niece and nephew thoroughly enjoy the classes and they can't wait to go to class to learn and have fun. The facility is a big open space but they've got super comfy couches to sit on, and free wi-fi so I can surf while watching the niece and nephew. Definitely recommended

My wife and I have a rambunctious 3 year old with infinite energy. He loves to wrestle with daddy and mommy and enjoys watching American Ninja Warrior and creating obstacle courses for himself at home. Noticing his penchant for this type of physical activity, we thought an environment where kicking and punching were not only sanctioned but welcomed and honed, would be good for him. Plus, that would mean less bruises on daddy, mommy, and his stuffed animals at home -- and more on his unlucky instructor.
Considering that our son might be a bit too young for TKD instruction, we cautiously enrolled him at Modern Taekwondo Academy. Here, our son met his match and then some in Mr. Evon. We attended their grand opening and in everything from the look and feel of the space to the attention to guest's/parent's needs (comfy couch, free WiFi, etc.) to the demos, we immediately felt Mr. Evon's passion and dedication to both the sport and sharing it with others. Since the end of July, our son has been attending weekly classes and it continues to be the activity he looks forward to most each week...by far. Mr. Evon is an amazing instructor and we really lucked out with Modern Taekwondo Academy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
