Milsom Place describes itself as the 'heart of fashionable Bath', which I have to disagree with. With shops such as Cath Kidston, Ted Baker and Hobbs it attracts a very specific type of shopper - one who is into classic cuts and has no budget. But it's not just fashion that brings the crowds to Milsom's Place, this very small shopping district has a surprising amount of restaurants, cafes and galleries for you to wander around.

The area itself is very tasteful, with glass walk ways and yellow bricks which keeps it in keeping with the rest of Bath's architecture. The highlight of Milsom Place, for me, is Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant which, when you can get a seat, is reasonable priced and incredibly tasty. Pukka!

I don't like this so-called "shopping centre" one iota, and mainly use it as a short cut from one side of the centre to the other. All the shops are minimal, white and bright - sure signs that you're going to get fleeced if you make a mistake and buy these overpriced goods, like sunglasses, kitsch household items and clothing. There are a few restaurants tucked away here and there, but you'd honestly be better off finding some of the small, quaint and independent gems that are tucked away down side streets all over Bath instead.
