Everything is relative, and I rated Mike's as a 5-Star because it is definitely the best place for a good steak in Franklinton, Louisiana!
We were seated instantly, and our server, Vaina, greeted us immediately and told us about tonight's specials.
We both ordered the porterhouse, medium rare, and they were prepared perfectly and served sizzling. Both steaks were juicy and delicious. The baked potatoes were also perfect. I would rate the entire dinner as a 5/5.
Mike's is not a pretentious place, but it is clean, the steaks are excellent, and the personnel are friendly and efficient.
Mike's is only open Thursday-Sunday, and they do not serve alcohol, although our super server, Vaina, allowed me to bring in my own adult beverage.
I will absolutely visit again the next time in the area for business!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary Linda J.Hammond, LA19610May 28, 2016
If you are in Franklinton Louisiana and it is a Saturday night you need to go to Mikes for a very good steak. Go before 6 because it is a small place and fills up fast. Granddaughter enjoyed the catfish dinner but the other doesn't like bbq chicken so that was a miss.

They used to be amazing. But now anytime we go our steaks are baby sizes lol. And just doesn't seem like the same quality of meat! But hands down best steak in town. They are pretty pricey. Also best chicken as well.

Me and the missus were there about a week or so ago, we ordered the Sampler....while the ribs and sausage were good the chicken was dry to the point of being almost inedible...but just after 8pm, the place started filling up and there were those waiting for a table....we were gonna try the steaks but after seeing the prices and the note in the menu about "over cooked steaks can't be sent back" we decided to pass on steaks....the Cole slaw and potato salad are different, not bad but vinegar based. So if you like your coleslaws sweet and not too juicy then get used to disappointment. The iced tea was very good though.

Ate here on Saturday September 21. I have nothing but praise for the food and service! A friend of mine and I both ordered large ribeyes and sweet potatoes he had fries and I had baked. They have a salad bar which was average but acceptable! The steaks were about an inch and a half thick and ordered medium rare, that is exactly how they were served. My only reason for not giving a full 5 star was they don't serve any alcohol! It definitely kept the bill down though which was good. I was told that you are allowed to bring in a libation if you ask beforehand. A nice glass of red wine would have got the extra star! We were offered desert "homemade strawberry cake"! But we were full, I had leftover steak that went nicely the next day for breakfast! I will be back!

Excellent Ribeye's and Fried Catfish!
Salad bar was good. You can get sweet potatoes instead of a regular potato.
They have a grilled seafood platter also!
Worth going too!!! They have a bread pudding with white chocolate!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Howard L.Columbia, MS145Apr 20, 2016
Ratings are a relative thing. In Franklinton, Mike's is 5 stars. The BBQ would be 3 -4 stars elsewhere; the steaks are 4 - 5 stars anywhere. The hours are 2 stars because they lock the door at 8:00 (on Thursday anyhow) and that's when I'm usually in town.
Go. You won't be disappointed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jerry H.Geismar, LA02Apr 30, 2016
