DO NOT GO HERE.
The doctor seemed very knowledgeable but when I tried to schedule surgery, the scheduler was extremely incompetent and rude. I took the time to write an e-mail raising my concerns:
When asked what day a federal holiday was the scheduler told me "does not keep up with that stuff"
She does not own a calendar
She "is not an insurance agency" so she cannot go over costs with you
She accuses people of having plastic surgery
She complains to people over the phone while you are there
I could go on longer, but I am not interested in wasting more of my life on this truly wretched woman and business.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Marcus B.Arlington, VA96301Jan 31, 2013
I do not understand the other reviews. I was misdiagnosed for 2 years until I saw Dr Kominsky. He operated on me and I hope to start competing in triathlons again. I love running and so happy to not be in pain.
Dr Jacobson the PT was great as was Chris her assistant.
Dr K never seemed rushed when I saw him and the office was great about fitting me in if there were any issues.
As part of my PPO the fees were very reasonable. I am sure it is very challenging to be able to provide everyone with the attention they need and get to all of his patients.
I am truly grateful to Drs K and J for getting me back to runningHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dana B.Denver, CO514922May 9, 2016
This review is specifically in reference to the billing procedures, processes, and department. First, the office has a billing department but also does their own collections -- strange. After the office submitted the claim to my insurance company, I realized that the claim this office submitted was missing a line item -- which amounted to roughly $250. I called both my insurance company and the number on the bill to explain the issue and was assured that everything was taken care of. A couple of weeks later, the office contacted me explaining that there was an outstanding balance that would be sent to collections if not paid immediately. I explained the situation in detail and was basically spoken to by the woman at the office that I should have called them to sort out the issue (instead of the billing number on the bill I received), that I was in the wrong, and that I should have paid the bill months prior. I explained over and over that I had been trying to sort out the correct amount and that it was not my fault that their office and the insurance company was not sending me an accurate bill. Despite my many attempts to explain the situation, the woman at the office was rude, condescending, and extremely unhelpful. After this conversation, I double checked my paperwork and notes, called the woman back, and eventually she was able to wrap her head around the situation. I cleared up the bill over the phone. A month later, I received ANOTHER bill; I called the office, and the same woman answered, was very curt and said she would "handle it."
Dealing with doctors offices and insurance companies is a nightmare, and it's especially frustrating when a treating office does not help explain and rectify billing mishaps. I will certainly not be returning to this office.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cheryl C.Washington, DC0495Nov 6, 2011First to Review
I saw Dr. Stephen Kominsky for a few months for some foot pain, and had physical therapy with Dr. Andrea Jacobson.
Pros:
- Dr. Jacobson was super nice and always on time. She really seemed to know what she was talking about, and gave me some good exercises and options to help with my pain. (She isn't actually a part of Mid-Atlantic Podiatry, I don't think, but she works with them a lot.)
Cons:
- The office staff was very unprofessional. I walked into the waiting area a few times to find both receptionists texting on their cell phones. It usually took a while for either of the girls to stop texting and actually help me.
- Dr. Kominsky always seemed rush, and didn't quite know the specifics of my issues. A few times, it was pretty obvious that he didn't read my chart before coming into the exam room, because he had no idea why I was there. He would have to leave the room, check the chart, and then come back and start over.
- Also, for each hour-long "appointment," I would have maybe 5 minutes tops with Dr. Kominsky. The rest of it was waiting and getting shuffled around between different office staff/techs.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
