The museum opened in 1987. It focuses on the history of Michigan's military & space heroes.
"It is dedicated to retelling the stories of sacrifice endured by Michigan's servicemen and women."
We've come to Frankenmuth at least 50 times and always made a mental note to one day visit this museum. Finally, we made it. This is so awe inspiring. No better way to pay tribute to Michigan's veterans and to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I felt an immense sense of duty from the minute I entered. It was truly a great honor to see.
As small as it is, it has so much history. I was obsessed. I tried to read it all, photograph it all, I even sent texts to old marine buddies of pictures that could easily have been us (due to the similarities). The pride that should never leave was alive and well. I want to go again and stay from opening to closing that way I know I've seen it all!
The displays are well organized. The building is clean and easily accessible. I felt the cost of admission was more than reasonable. The staff was adequate and informed but I couldn't care less. This is literally a shrine to be preserved forever. 8/20Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

This museum is a must see!! It is easy to miss it as the signage isn't huge but I saw it as we were coming into town and it was really interesting. We had a great time!!

Susan, thank you so much for encouraging others to visit our museum. We have so much pride in our Michigan servicemen, servicewomen, and astronauts that we just love to hear when others share our sentiments.

Fascinating! Looks are deceiving when it comes to this museum! Tremendous amount of history on our local men and women service members who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Who knew there was a Michigan man on the Anola Gay, a Michigander who survived the same nuclear blast as a POW working in a coal mine and 25 Michigan astronauts. A must stop for a small admission offering huge amounts of knowledge!

The respect they pay to the men and women who served is outstanding. I had no idea how much people from Michigan were involved in so many historical events. Great place stop in you won't regret it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We went to this museum on a family trip to Frankenmuth. I had my doubts about it but thought that it might interest the 11 year old boy who was with us and is really into in military stuff. I was very impressed with the whole place. There was much more in it than I expected but what really made the visit was the guide. John took us around and told us stories about the service men and women they had featured in each case. He even stayed late to allow us some more time to wander around a bit. If you're in the area it's well worth the time spent.

I loved this place we went with lower expectations but it was awesome! Lots of good displays and interesting stories all from Men that were from Michigan. Also the two men that worked there were very nice and knew their military history. Both named John. They change out the displays every once in awhile so even if you've been once the next time will have different displays of men with different stories.

This is a must for those who are patriotic and are proud to be from Michigan. Has one display case to represent each Michigan veteran that is part of the collection. Amazing acts of heroism and interesting historical facts that you never knew. I just made it past the displays of the Michigan governors who served (fascinating) when John asked me if I knew about the polar bear veterans. From there John asked what else I might be interested in. I told him I was in the Marine Corps. John then showed me many highlights of Marine veteran displays. John really brought everything to life. John made all the difference.
