Absolute horrible experience. I arrived with severe abdominal pain and I'm given like a 12 hour wait because they go by a acuity. How do they know how bad I am and less I am seen by a doctor. The nurse Sarah that came to put an IV in my arm was very unpleasant and very rude. She was complaining about her amount of hours that she had been working. She's the one that chose to be a nurse And she knows the hours that she will have to put in. I resent her attitude and her unpleasant mess cause I am not too happy about sitting here and getting stuck in the arm with a needle and now I'm allergic and breaking out. And I have a 12 hour wait isn't that dandy .

As if waiting in the ER for 4 1/2 hours in pain gets any worse you might have to wait another 2 hours for you to finish a little bit of treatment. It does get a little awkward when your just sitting there with half your finger cut off and bleeding everywhere. But other than the ER the doctors and nurses seem to know what they are doing. This isn't the hospital I go to regularly; however, it seems to be the closest option when there is an emergency. I would like to see them show a little more compassion for the patients, and yes I know they work extremely long shifts. It's a nice facility and clean for the most part. So, as long as their is some improvement in the emergency room department this hospital should be top tier.

My Mercy Doesn't Work! I Give Them My Info & It Doesn't Work! Please Stay Away From Mercy! Please Go To B.J.C. Do Yourself A Favor! Their IT people tried to help but no avail! About 5 IT people tried to help! So i won't have a "My Mercy" account! My doctor is Ken Brightfield "Walker Building"

They didn't ask for my insurance card and sent the bill to my wife's union instead!! So i called customer service in Tennessee & talked to Angela and she took care of my issues! She went "Above And Beyond" the call of duty! She went the "Extra Step" Please let her know how i feel! The Time: 19:10 Date 01/06/2020 Thank You! Always Be Blessed!!

Today I'm really disappointed in the nursing staff and security guards at Mercy Hospital St Louis. If you love your love ones this not the hospital to take them to. My daughter and I was just put out the ICU(Intensive Care Unit) by people on power struggle, because I asked for pain pill for my daughter. My daughter was on 6 liters of oxygen, pnuemonia, IV antibiotic, sepsis and shortness of breath. Being scheduled for drain placement in right chest. Staff nurse says me asking was aggressive to her. Security guard showed up and said I need to leave and not return. I ask what I do and he said, "Showed aggressive behavior." I said I wasn't yelling or raised my voice. Staff nurse unhooked my daughter and gave us w/c to leave hospital. My daughter asked for oxygen and nurse said no you leaving AMA. I said, "No she not, she was asked to leave also. Security guard was very rude, unethical, impolite, bad -mannered, untrained in customer service, and inconsiderate. Security guard walked less than Covid-9 6 feet distance. When told him ur in my personal space and pointing his fingers in my face with his fist balled up. Plus my daughter cant walk on her own or care for herself. Called Mercy charge nurse, Melissa, to talk about incident and what happen letting her know my daughter needs oxygen. But she wasn't interested in what I had to say and rushed me off phone. The incident was unwanted and my daughter had to go from ICU to parking garage to car to home (portable oxygen) to another hospital to get the help she needed.

Other than waiting in the ER for three hours and another 10 hours for a room for dehydration and low sodium the nurses and the doctors were for the most part very decent me that's why this is my preferred hospital they are very personable with me and they have good food too not jail food like some of the other hospitals have in the St. Louis area

I recovered from an extensive double jaw surgery here in June 2017.
While the surgery with Dr. Reza Movahed was a resounding failure, my time in the ICU and recovery at Mercy was a model of excellence.
The nursing team at Mercy is one of the most professional organizations (medical or otherwise) I have had the pleasure to encounter.
I highly recommend this hospital.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cassie C.MO, MO01Sep 29, 2022
I would quite literally rather bleed out in an ambulance knowing I'm on the way to Barnes than be brought here. The most unorganized, dysfunctional and inattentive collective care I have ever witnessed. Individually the doctors and nurses we worked with were decent but the complete lack of organization, protocol/chain of command and follow up within a unit is truly mind blowing. My mother was identified as "stroke unknown" for 3+ hours despite them having her ID and Insurance card the entire time and me being present, was never given food or water during her 24 hour stay and ultimately had to leave "AMA" because the doctor that discharged her left the hospital without informing anyone else that she was discharged and then couldn't be reached. No one had any idea what was happening from one moment to the next the whole time she was there and she left with really no answers or resolution, just a LOT of wasted time. I hate to think what happens to patients here that can't advocate for themselves and don't have anyone else to do so for them. Do not come here if you can at all avoid it.

Mercy has HORRIBLE customer service, if you can call it that. They mis-coded my service so it appeared to be out-of-network, then harassed me for months with Robo collection calls during the time the services were in dispute. They wouldn't do anything to help, they just wanted the money. Our group advocate got involved and it still took two more months to get it straightened out. Mercy finally re-filed the claim, & insurance paid it. Then Mercy turned me over to collections for the claim that was already paid. I had paid $50 co-pay at the office visit which should have only been $25 so they ended up owing ME money! Avoid this nightmare. Go elsewhere.

As most of my friends know I have been in the hospital for the past few days. I had an operation to help clear up my continued problem with diverticulitis. The surgeon Dr. Brabee removed over 14 inches of my colon reattached my colon and hopefully I will be in much better health.
The site of the operation was never as painful as I thought it would be. In fact I used very little pain medication. At least that is what I was told. What drove me crazy was all the other tubes. I had one for breathing, one for IV, another for pain medicine drip, and a drain on my stomach, oh and my favorite a catheter. I was just so angry about that thing. Really to the point of being unreasonable. When they came to remove all my tubes I started to feel more human. The last thing they removed were the two stomach drains. Whew!! that was interesting.
I am now at home and hope to recover in a couple of weeks. I think I am doing pretty good. I walked up and down the street in front of my house. Wish I had a video as I am positive I looked like Tim Conway's little old man. If you have never seen it You Tube it and you will understand how slow I moved. My famous 2 miles in under 30 min. walks are going to be sometime in the future.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 21Oh no 0 - Cynthia M.Saint Louis, MO4303043669Oct 23, 2019
You'd think airlines and ER's would have wisdom and time management under control...yet it's the opposite.
Conditions non life threatening should be in and out the door quickly.... Drs for that.
Life threatening conditions need more time.
2 sections at the hospitals....
Perhaps the digital Drs (that Jetson type tv that goes from room to room) with accessible x-ray machines and nurses who follow up....a quick pin prick and blood pressure test. Voila...you are diagnosed.
Easy peasy right...they have them. We spend big dollars as it is already.
4+ hours for a tick removal or massive migraine or broken arm, sprain, etc...is ridiculous.
That's NOT TIME MANAGEMENT.... THAT'S wasted space and poor time management...oh burnt out Drs and bad nursing services.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
