Not what it used to be. Hamburger and up charge for onion rings that were cold. Inside pretty much ground of and waitress is working hard. Others food not consistent.

tbh this place fkn blows. horrifying atmosphere, non HD TVs... which I didn't think existed anymore. Only good part is that we're the ONLY people in here... on st patty's day night.... like what kms

9-16-13- This place does lots of poorboy's and sandwiches. Which unfortunately means lots of processed meats.I saw on the menu that they had a roast beef sandwich with roast beef cooked daily ( not processed). So I ordered a roast beef sandwich and onion rings. I so wanted this sandwich to be good. The roast beef was tough and flavorless. The onion rings were good and crispy. I'd try this place again , but it's definitely not on my short list of places to try.

This place is perfect if you're looking for a low-key, loose place for a great hamburger or poboy.
It definitely has the bar atmosphere and the staff is friendly and sociable.
You have to order the Melvyns Burger when coming here. It is absolutely delicious and in no way breaks the bank.
There's also ample parking for this place as it is located in a strip.
If you want a laid-back, man-cave type atmosphere with some of the best burgers in the Twin Cities, Melvyn's is the place for you!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Arwen L.Clovis, NM60912131Jul 7, 2010First to Review
Another hometown favorite here. Burgers that beat anything I've ever had (including Enoch's...sorry Enoch's. I still love you for dates!)
Melvyn's burgers are always good. I've never had a bad one. And their fries are good too. The atmosphere at lunch tends to local business types. It can get very busy. Parking is not the best but it's certainly not the worst. Just watch as you pull in and pull out because sure as heck someone else is doing the opposite.
They serve alcohol here or did when I lived in Funroe, but this is more of a lunch place for me. I also love the call-in and carry-out convenience.
I recommend the Melvyn for take out but the BBQ Burger for eating in. Oh yeah!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - ME M.Monroe, LA011Dec 22, 2015
I usually do not write reviews BUT my experience here was by far the worst I have ever had in my ENTIRE life. After taking our order the waitress, Leah, never returns. After complaining that it has taken 45 minutes to get 2 pasta salads while we are the only people in the restaurant, we are told that our waitress left. Left! Like walked out the door! The new girl tells us they only have enough food for one pasta salad and that hasn't even been made. Since we are fools, we decide to stay and tough it out. Our one pasta salad comes back with chicken so tough you cannot cut it with a knife and the pasta is so old and hard it is as if it has not even been cooked. We tell our new waitress who could not even be bothered and could barely muster a "sorry". I used to absolutely love Melvyn's but damn, between the horrendous service and even worse food, I just cannot bring myself to return and be tortured again. Of course, only one star because you have to select it otherwise NONE!!!!

Best burgers and roast beef Po-boys we have ever eaten!!!!! My husband ordered a burger, I ordered a roast beef Po-boy and our daughter ordered chicken strips and we all got fries. My husband and I were blown away by the burger and roast beef Po-boy (we tasted one another's order). The only thing we were not impressed with was their gravy that came with the Po-boy but I can get passed the gravy and don't even need it with a roast beef Po-boy this good.

Melvyn's is a decent restaurant in Monroe, serving hamburgers and some poboys. The food is not bad--there's better out there, but there's much worse, too. Pricing is a tad on the high side given the portions--some of the poboys look like they shrunk in the wash before being served, but it's still a good place with plenty of atmosphere.
