It was a pleasant lunch with my granddaughter. The food was quickly served and had a great flavor. They were very good with her and talked with her as well. They bring out the xhios with salsa and bwans which is m favorite! The staff is great and the place is clean. The food is good and feels fresh.

If you take anything away from this review: hot and fresh chips with salsa and bean dip, great margaritas and get the Xango for dessert trust me!
Our waitress was so friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and giving us time to decide what we wanted and also some great recommendations. Starting off with the free chips fresh out of the fryer and it was crispy and thick, perfect for dipping into the salad and bean dip it came with. Don't sleep on their margaritas (mango is the best flavor!) the picture is a SMALL, and the medium and large are humongous just be warned or if that's the vibe you're going for then you'll have plenty to drink! Space is no frills with booths and big tables, great for big groups and celebrations.
I will say they use the biggest plate I've ever seen, and most of their entrées are a few bucks below and above $20. But plus side is there will be leftovers! I got the Carne Asada plate and it comes with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. The Chicken a la Crema was a favorite for my group and the garlic shrimp was nice and flavorful as well. But the star had to be this dessert we were curious about - the Xango. It is basically a fried cheesecake wrapped in tortilla, topped with cinnamon sugar, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream! Perfect for sharing with a group. A true crowd pleaser!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 20, 2023
I had the Carne Asada plate, and it was very tasty. I also had shrimp tostada as appetizer, but it was not that great. in fact, they delivered both the appetizer and the main dish at the same time which is a little strange. I definitely would like to come back to have another Carne Asada platter. service was also very good and the place overall very clean and well maintained

Authentic food, humble and attentive service, soft lighting and native ambiance.
They offer complimentary nachos with beans and salsa.
The food arrives quickly after you order. The server was attentive to offer another bowl of nachos while we wait on our meal, so even it would have been longer, we wouldn't know.
The portions size was big enough for a meal. Though I did find fajitas suitable for sharing portions than for one. But it could be individual choice as well.
If you are craving for some authentic mole or Mexican cuisine, don't hesitate yo try them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jacqueline C.Northwest Dallas, Dallas, TX2321Feb 14, 2024
The employees are nice people. The food however came out warm cold, as if it was sitting there for a while. Another woman that ordered the exact same thing as I did, received sizzling hot food. The chorizo looked like it waa dry and old, and the carnitas had a weird grey color. Instead of apologizing for the food, the manager chose to try and defend himself making it seem like I was seeing things that weren't there. My partner also say the food and said it did not look appetizing. I would definitely not recommend.

Last minute decision which turned out surprisingly well. We came on weekday around 11 so it was pretty empty. The staff were friendly and attentive regarding water, chips, and salsa. One of the few places that serves beans with their chips, which is a nice touch. Food arrived pretty quickly after ordering. Portion sizes are expectedly large with decent portions of both rice and beans with each combo. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I had their Arroz Con Pollo which was great, and they even allowed me to customize it by increasing the spice.

Poor service from management. Manager had attitude and when I simply was not liking the dish served... I'm not eating grey meat! Don't recommend eating here. Flavorless food.

I have been going here for years and enjoying the happy hour but today we were told the bar was full. We checked and saw an open booth in the bar and several tables empty but we were then told the booth was reserved and the tables not used. We then asked to sit at the bar but were told we couldn't. A half hour later we saw two people at the bar and an open booth. I was very disappointed and will not go back.

TRADICIÓN MEXICANA CON MENÚ SECRETO
Dinora and Librado have been running this restaurant for 16 years now.
As Mexicans, it's hard to pick a place you'd call "our family tradition" since you want it with good food and strong commitment to service. In the past 3 years we found it here for us.
Still continues with DELICIOUS FREE UNLIMITED CHIPS and refried beans or salsa as an appetizer.
You can find original Mexican cuisine taste (Like our favorite Grilled Molcajet) or if you are new to Mexican cuisine, they also have dishes for people new to Mexican cuisine (Like the Spinach Enchilada).
Almost all entrees are served with a large portion of refried beans and rice, sharing a plate wouldn't be a bad idea.
There's a secret menu and I highly recommend the "Camarones Monterrey" ($18.50) for about 8 prawns wrapped in bacon and covered in Chihuahua cheese with some poco de gallo.

This chain has what most Mexican restaurants around the area do: OK food with great service. One of the typical features that tells you it's a Mexican restaurant owned by Mexicans and operated by Mexicans is the FREE UNLIMITED CHIPS and refried beans or salsa as an appetizer. And these are not like the thin and extra salty chips from Applebee's, but a bit thicker and tastier.
The food is hit or miss: Some dishes are good because they bring up the original Mexican cuisine taste (Like the Grilled Molcajete for $17.50, where 2 people can share) and others seem to be a mediocre intention to appease the American market by adding American cheese on top or replacing the cheese one would find in original dishes (Like the Spinach Enchilada for $10).
Almost all entrees are served with a large portion of refried beans and rice. Both are really tasty and if you want to come for lunch with a friend and not fill up too much nor break the bank, sharing a plate wouldn't be a bad idea. - May 8, 2020Updated review
On Cinco de Mayo my Oregonian teen said "Mom, Mexican doesn't sound good."
Where did this California born/ Arizona raised mom go wrong??!! WTH?
Sigh. Kid made a pasta thing that night.
So a couple days later my teen's dad offered to bring us some Trader Joe's necessities ( my hungry teen might have texted him a snack list) and takeout while I was wrapping up a long work day. We came up with Mazatlan because it was on his route.
I shouldha known better. Honestly.
The food was ready when he got there. It was mostly still hot when it arrived at my house.
Teen's dad liked his mole enchiladas fine. Said for Oregon they were" typical and adequate".
The appetizer guacamole and chips were ok.The guacamole was fresh. Chips were warm. Greasy/salty. House salsa reminded me of Pace.
Teen's burrito was "okay" but missing all of its toppings which is why it was chosen in the first place. For $14.50 that was a very disappointing outcome.
"Mom, I like my burrito from Mexicali Express better". ( and it is half the price)
The anemic chimichanga arrived sitting on wet iceberg, so it had a soggy bottom, with not delicious bland mushy shredded chicken inside. Meh. Not the crispy fat flavorful golden brown Arizona chimichanga of my dreams. I remembered why I don't get them here ever. The rice and beans were fine. The guacamole in with the chimi was different (slimy) than the other guacamole.
All in all not great.
I am giving three stars because they were open for takeout, they were reportedly nice at pickup, they made decent guacamole (not great but ok). And it was ready in the time they said with some components that were fine. But I think we aren't likely to go back soon.Helpful 19Thanks 0Love this 21Oh no 0Oct 22, 2011Previous reviewStill on the hunt for our FAVORITE Mexican restaurant ( Allan's Authentic Mexican Restaurant is a go to, but not a "we're craving this" place ( Did I ever talk about La Flor in Yuma... sigh) , at least not yet.... we piled into the car for dinner the other night. We had a coupon. We have been here a few times before, and mostly with good outcomes.
So, they do call me "Amiga" here when they take my order ( which makes me wince. I fondly remember my Latino friend visiting from Arizona indignantly saying "I am NOT your amigo, dude" lol), and the decor is a bit... well, tacky. I grew up in Arizona and frequented restaurants WITHOUT the tacky decor or the phony greetings....Nevertheless.I'm in Oregon now, baby, it is what it is.
The service was very good. We didn't even get in trouble when my husband decided to turn off the tv that was annoying us over our heads.
The chips are served warm with warm bean dip and mild salsa in little bowls. Good.
The ice water comes automatically and is refilled often without asking or chasing them across the restaurant ( or grabbing the pitcher and doing it ourselves, as we do often in other places).
My small strawberry margarita cost about $5 and was not very small. It tasted good.
My daughter got a "kid's margarita" for $2.99 that made her smile.
Husband and mom got soft drinks and iced tea in bucket sized cups that were refilled often.
Husband ate a shrimp quesadilla off the appetizer menu because he wanted something "small". It was not small, it was enormous. He said he wished the cheese had been more evenly distributed ( it was mostly in the middle) but otherwise, it was great, and he ate all of it.
Daughter had a kid's Mexican pizza ( be warned, it has lettuce on it, but the kid's menu doesn't say that). Fortunately, she liked it,lettuce and all... thank goodness, and ate all her rice, my mom's rice, and my rice. And all the bean dip, and buckets of chips. Okay then.
Mom had a combo plate with a chalupa ( which I thought would be small, dumb me), and a chicken enchilada. They came on an enormous platter with lots of rice and beans, and she did not finish it all. She looked at me accusingly at first, given the plate was the size of a surfboard, but she got over it and seemed content.
I was there for the chicken fajitas, it's what I'd been thinking about on the way in, and they were steaming hot and delicious. Lots of onions, chicken, mushrooms, a few strips of red and green pepper, and they were nicely flavored. They came with flour or corn tortillas , rice ( not that I got any), beans, guac, sour cream... really pretty good. Not my prototypical Fajita ( um, La Parilla Suiza in Arizona , sadness) but not bad.
And the margarita was delicious. Did I mention that? Really, it was. Tequila, I have found, ( in limited quantities of course) is a great cure for homesickness. - Jeanelle V.Hillsboro, OR02312Jan 11, 2023
