Came in after fishing one Saturday afternoon, it had a descent crowd. Split sections for smoking and non smoking so that was cool. Staff were pretty friendly and informative.
The food however not so much. We had five people in our group, which ordered chicken fried chicken, 12oz sirloins, cowboy ribeye and chicken fried steak. They weren't really that appealing when it came out, I had the sirloin, and they gave u a descent thick cut. It was rather dry and hard to cut into. Flavor was pretty bland, and super salty sides (corn and mash potatoes)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 8, 2024
Needed a place to eat AND a -lace to park the Kraken. Not to many places q\have parking for a 40 ft trailer, but Mama's does! Oh what to eat? O was hungry for a burger and I've got issues with peppers. You, can't turn em down, so the heater cheese burger seemed to fit the bill - with jalapeños - heck yea!!! Oh. And for the side - gonna upgrade to the healthy option - onion rings! Hey - onions are vegetables, and oh were they delicious.! Not,the store bought kind but those fresh home, add rings made just right!
Now to that burger. Hmmmm. Just gonna have to,wait a spell
Ok, elbows dried and let me just say that jalapeño bun. Mmmm, - and the chipotle may. Oh yea. Oh yessss there just a lot going on here. Absolutely delicious! Juicy and flavorful!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kimann G.Midland, TX3415223Apr 10, 20241 check-in
Stopped by here for supper on our way to Cypress. The food & service were excellent. My husband got the large chicken fried steak, it was huge, basically 2 chicken fried steaks, he couldn't eat it all. I had the stuffed crab. Both of our meals were really good. If your a vegetarian they have several options listed on the menu. There is something for everyone. We will definitely be back next time we come this way.

3 of us went for lunch April 7th The place was full. the ambiance was awful. The table was dirty. We ordered in a reasonable time and then waited for an hour. Other patrons started walking out after they too had waited an hour. People who came in later were getting their food. Finally after 1hr and 15 minutes we were served. One hamburger was burnt all the way through. Not edible. My fried chicken sandwich and onion rings were edible, but low quality, and the patty melt was very dry. If you are looking for good home cooking and decent service avoid this place. There are better restaurants down the road.

Good food , fried food could be drained better a lot of grease makes it to your plate .
Waitres's seem to forget a lot of stuff rather quickly
3 different waitres took my drink order before I got it . Prices a little high ordered Pork chop dinner got one very thin small pork chop , had just read a review of another diner that described his pork chop dinner as very large thick juicy pork chop made my mouth water , disappointed me .
Seems a lot of places have closed making compition less for customers & restauraunt both .

Breakfast was good. I had the biscuits & gravy with hash browns & bacon. The bacon could've been crispier but next time I'll order it that way. Service is always fast and friendly but not bothersome.

I recently had a rather unpleasant lunch here around 2 pm on a Monday. It seems that the waitstaff takes breaks leaving one waitress to run the afternoon rush by herself. One person to take orders, serve food, and run the register. They seem to handle a lot of to go orders during the afternoon. Plan on dining before 2 pm.
Although this place does fried food really well , it was a hot day and I decided to try the large taco salad; I thought about cool lettuce and tomatoes mixed with beef and shredded cheese. What I got was a large plate covered with chopped tomatoes, unseasoned ground beef, some cheese, LOTS of tortilla chips, and barely a 1/4 cup of lettuce! The pecante sauce that accompanied the meal was actually 2 plastic packets like you get at Taco Bell.
At least the A/C was working that day and I could eat in relative comfort.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 4, 2023Previous reviewHaving driven past this restaurant several times over the past 10 years, traveling from Brenham to Dallas and back my wife and I decided to give this place a try. The ambience is quite intoxicating.....so many signs on the walls, and the corrugated tin, adding to the country feel and of course, the food is absolutely awesome. We could not believe the size of the onion rings and the tater tots would simply melt in your mouth! The burgers, although somewhat small, were extremely flavorful, and well worth the price!
My only gripe is with the Management/waitstaff at the restaurant. It was Saturday morning, and a sign was hand written, and placed on the door saying that they would not except large bills. Did somebody forget to go to the bank on Friday? Seriously, get it together before the first weekend in June! I strongly advise anybody going to this restaurant to not sit in the back of the restaurant because you will be ignored, or simply forgotten about ; our waitress did not check up on us after we received our meal. I actually called the restaurant on my cell phone from our table to inform them that we were ready to receive our bill to pay. Only to be informed that it was our duty to approach the front of the restaurant in order to obtain our final bill.
Also, a couple was allowed to bring in there pooch to sit at their table while in the restaurant; although the dog did not make a scene , every time, a waitress came back there , each waitress had to pet that dog. I wonder if each waitress actually washed her hands after getting back to the kitchen area to prepare food orders or simply pore glass of iced tea?!. - Mayumi P.Brenham, TX11890May 26, 2023
The atmosphere is super casual. The decor is kind of a rustic country diner style, with corrugated metal walls and homey signs. The menu had quite a big selection and we ordered the chicken fried steak, the mushroom Swiss burger, & the the homestyle burger. The waitress was nice & friendly, and the service was quick!

While in the area, I chose to stop in and try Mama's Kitchen, my decision, was based on Yelp reviews. I am glad I did. The place was busy and understaffed, as most places are today, but the way was well worth it. I had the two piece catfish dinner, fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. The two filets almost completed a whole fish. Good tasting. Try it out, I don't think you will be sorry.
