Truly a gem among pre-schools in Los Angeles. My son is in his 3rd year here and my daughter is about to start. The teachers are incredible and strike a balance between developing academic, social skills, and allowing the kids to have fun. I love Little Village's emphasis on teaching the kids life skills like resolving conflicts themselves, making choices, and loving to learn.
The community of parents is one that is more committed to the education of their children because it's made up of parents who have self-selected into the co-op model. Little Village has perfected the co-op model. It's a co-op in the sense that parents are involved one morning a month, but we're not teaching or watching the kids, we do the behind-the-scenes stuff that allows trained teachers to focus on the kids. At the same time, it allows us to be more involved in the school, in key decisions, and builds the community.
The community is incredible - it's truly a village, a family, which is not easy to find in LA! So many things, from meal trains for new parents, to the Little Village Parents' Band (called the Little Village People), to the fun get-togethers -- all of this combines to form the best preschool in Los Angeles!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jackie T.Los Angeles, CA314861Jul 25, 2023
Please don't sleep on Little Village Nursery School if you're thinking about sending your little one to preschool anytime soon. My husband and I were turned on to Little Village by a neighbor who sent their children there almost three decades ago, and even to this day, they still can't stop raving about it!
The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, and the teachers are simply the best. They've been such wonderful educators for our child. Plus, we were worried about getting involved as parents, but it's been surprisingly easy and enjoyable, especially with our busy work schedules.
I have to give a special shout-out to teacher Lee. He's been there for over 40 years and clearly knows the ins and outs of making the first day at school a breeze. Our little one took to him right away, and that's saying something, considering he's one of those "exotic Covid babies."
We cannot sing praise enough to Little Village for opening up our child's world. He has met some incredible friends already and continues to surprise us with things he's learned each day. If you're on the hunt for a preschool, do yourself a favor and check out Little Village. We promise you won't be let down. It's been a game-changer for us, and we're sure you'll feel the same way once you see what they have to offer!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maya P.Los Angeles, CA14Sep 22, 2023
What a magical place this has been for our little guy. He is in his second year at LVNS and is flourishing. In addition to advancing academically, he's also learning many necessary life skills, like conflict resolution, and how to be a good friend. The teachers are all experienced and caring. They take the time to get to know each of their students and their interests providing them with plenty of attention while also fostering their independence and confidence. I highly recommend this school to any family seeking a play centered school for their children.

Little Village is nurturing and sweet environment for little ones to grow and thrive. The talented teachers go above and beyond and my sons have learned so much in our time there. Being a part of the co-op community has been a rewarding experience that I would highly recommend.

This school is WONDERFUL! The community of parents is great. The learning environment is great.
I'm currently in the parent and me group with my 2 year old and it's the perfect balance of open play and structure and singing time with a great amount of parent support.
I'm biased about the school since my dad, Teacher Lee, has been teaching here for almost 40 years but I can't tell you whole heartedly that it is a wonderful first home away from home for families.
having graduated there myself over 3 decades ago, I am still friends with my friend I made there.
because of the more intimate nature of the parent co-op, it's not unusual for parents to build great friendships too. I know many families with college students whose moms still hang out on the weekends. The essence of the village there can really be felt.
I love that little village is play-based.
The teachers are all warm and nurturing and make everyday so fun!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachael O.West Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA014Mar 9, 2023
We've been at Little Villiage for going on three years, and it's been a fabulous experience for both of my children. The teachers are intuitive, dynamic, and endlessly engaged. We love getting to be involved, and the complete open door policy. You always feel welcome stepping into the yard! The space is so perfect, with its shaded outdoor area, little nooks and gardens, and is always set up in a way that encourages dynamic learning through play. The teaching faculty at Little Villiage has been here for ages, and their commitment is so evident in everything they do. We feel so lucky to have landed at LVNS!

I adore this school and its teachers and staff! We really fell in love with it as soon as we toured and learned about their philosophy. Its very important to me that they don't drill the kids but teach them through play. They let the kids listen and learn and lead, which I really feels gives them the chance to grow at their own pace. The entire environment was so welcoming - on my tour, you could see parents and teachers interacting with one another and the kids, and everyone was at ease and just enjoying being there. Our boys are thriving in this environment, getting a lot of personalized attention and also gaining a lot of social skills and being exposed to things from science to art and music. And finally, we feel as parents that we have a voice - not to mention a great relationship with the director and other parents - which is very comforting.

The school name fits the environment. Every teacher shows every student individualized attention and greets each family with such enthusiasm each and every day, it is as if they are seeing them for first time! They are never too busy to answer a quick question or have small talk, they are all genuine people who LOVE WHAT THEY DO. Both my children attended Little Village and they are 8 years apart, it was great to see after 8 years every staff member was still there will their big smiles and open arms, it was like I never left, we just picked up where we left off 8 years ago. It is so refreshing for children to attend a school where there isn't any turn over in staffing! Little Village is one of kind and truly a special place.

This sweet little school is such a dream! We discovered Little Village through some stellar recommendations and after touring all of the top westside options, we knew (without question) LVNS was the one for us.
It's truly a gem. A wonderful community with experienced, loving teachers + director thoughtfully guiding our children through the delicate preschool years. Our son has thrived in this nurturing, creative environment. He loves his school, classmates and teachers and is excited to go each and everyday. He has learned and matured so much and is developing the skills needed to transition to elementary school well.
We highly recommend visiting Little Village. We have loved our time here and will be back with our second child when he's ready for school as well!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christopher C.Woodside, CA549Sep 28, 2016
My daughter spent 2.5yrs at Little Village and loved it. A great community with wonderful, loving teachers. Little Village is a nurturing environment where kids can explore new things, get creative, have fun and meet and play with other amazing little people. All guided by an experienced, kind-hearted group of teachers and staff.
Parents are asked to participate in the school - doing clean-up a couple times a year and helping out on school days once a month. I enjoyed doing both, especially the school days - my daughter was always thrilled to have me there and to be able to share snack time together.
We loved our time there :) and I highly recommend visiting Little Village to see if it's the right fit for you.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
