Here at Leonore Restaurant we like to keep everything as fresh and homemade as possible. With a friendly staff and a homemade meal, you're sure to feel just like Familia! You wouldn't want to take your family anywhere else! We specialize in Venezuelan & Italian Cuisine. Our Pizza is more New York style and LOVED by all! To this day it is still one of the top sellers! Arepas are a MUST TRY! Crunchy on the outside and super stuffed inside with melt in your mouth ingredients! We even make all of our desserts in house! Look no further and come visit your Leonore Familia!

Old fashion decoration as from Roanoke Downtown buildings kind of decoration. We visited on a Tuesday evening it was not much customers but only one person waiting on tables and taking care of the bar. He was doing what he can but he made a couple of mistakes on our order and bill. The food was good average, he gave us a complimentary dessert as an apology for the mistakes.
He was polite and courteus.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - S B.Roanoke, VA431713Mar 17, 2024

Venezuelan food is very tasty and the right combination of ingredients that capture the eyes, ignite the taste buds, and makes for a pleasant dining experience. Many times I have past by Leonore Restaurant in Downtown Roanoke and have been attracted by the ambience and the menu, but it has been closed or I have not had the time to stop in, so this time I decided to Door Dash the food and write a review of it. I ordered a very typical dish called Pabellon Criollo. It consisted of white rice and black beans, shredded beef, sweet ripe plantains, a slice of avocado, all this topped off with a crispy fried egg. The food arrived promptly brought by a very pleasant attendant. It was served neatly placed together and the flavor of this combination of items was something to be desired over and over again. Great eating experience. Enough to motivate me to want to visit the restaurant in person.

I ordered on DoorDash and I'm torn. I'll put pros and cons below to stay concise.
Pros: great plantains, 10/10 passion fruit juice (reminded me SO much of juice I had every day in Brazil)- don't be thrown off by it coming in a bag if you order it. So fresh! The avocados were also super good, though tiny portions. Ordered the plate with rice, beans, plantains, egg and avocado that came with beef or meat, but as a veggie, asked for without it. They were so kind and without me asking, added sautéed veggies. They kinda clashed with flavors (thinking they were a florentine Italian situation) but was super nice.
Cons: EXPENSIVE for what you get, wishing were more veggie options on the actual menu, egg was underdone, beans could have been better cooked and more flavorful.
Biggest pro- they're kind and nice to have options

This place really surprised me!!
Coming from a city that is big on food I have been very underwhelmed with the amount of good food and diversity after moving to Roanoke. This place was a breath of fresh air. Originally the mix of Venezuela and Italy was shocking but they seem to do it well.
I only tried the Venezuelan food this time around but I C will definitely be back to have it again. Not only was the selection of food good but the execution was great. Very little criticism and what I have are more preference things on my end.
The arepas, we're huge! We were told that two would be a serving and that was pushing it. I struggled to get through my second one. The fillings were all delicious.
I got the pabellon criollo and scarfed it down. Only two minor things (one I'm sure I could have asked to be redone but I was hungry, lol). One, the rice needed some seasoning, just a little salt in the water. 2 was the egg, supposed to be a runny egg and I got it and it was completely solid. I was looking forward to that yolk running into my rice but it didn't happen. The avocado was nice and ripe though which is always good. And the pièce de resistance were the plantains. one of my biggest pet peeves is when a Hispanic place touts ripe plantains and they are not actually ripe. These were soft, caramelized and squishy.
I will most definitely be back for more food. And at some point I'll have to give in and try the Italian too. I didn't realize until after that they had passion fruit juice and tres leches cake which will have to happen at some point.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Scott W.Norfolk, VA03Jan 21, 2024

We were visiting and I looked on line and found it. We took an other couple with us. We LOVED Leonore's! Food was wonderful! My husband and the other guy got a pizza- so good; I ordered the pepito sandwich and it was amazing. The cole slaw was made to perfection!
Our server Matt was excellent! He joined in our friendly banter and truly added to our evening 's fun.
We will definitely go when we are in town again.

I have never seen a restaurant with such a awesome array of gluten-free options. It is Venezuelan and Italian cuisine, which they accomplish both deliciously and eloquently. Their Arepas are out of this world and their gluten-free pizza taste like high-quality regular pizza. If you're gluten-free, you know exactly what I mean by that. The Mediterranean pizza slaps like an angry pimp.
