LA Brisket’s Chinatown Location (The LAB @ Chinatown) Our goal is to share with the world the fire emoji that is Los Angeles comfort food in exactly the colors that LA is: fast, bougie, and excitingly complex yet comfortingly simple. The LA Brisket menu is passionately and purposefully built to capture nostalgia and includes interpretations of LA street food, corner dive restaurants, and late-night munchie spots, and revolves around Texas-inspired smoked meats. As we hand-make each menu item from scratch, from our low&slow smoked brisket rub to our block-famous Salsa Verde, we are excited for you to enjoy our works of heart as much as we are pumped making it for you. This is the second time I ordered a sandwich at LA Brisket this week!
I can't believe more people aren't praising this joint!
It is in a small mall/hallway in Chinatown. They have a few tables in the hallway. It's not the most convenient place to eat because of the limited seating and the exterior doors were open (causing a cold breeze). I was told by other guest that the doors can't be closed because it will lock. In short, it is easier to just order pick up and eat elsewhere.
Anyways, let's get to the good part... the food. I've had both the 101 and 405 sandwiches. Both are so juicy and full of flavor with great combinations of cheese and sauce. The bread is perfectly is crispy on the outside so it hold its structure well for a sandwich but warm and soft on the inside. The brisket is the star of the show. Just the right amount of smoke and fat. It falls apart perfectly without being too soggy.
The truffle fries were good. They were well done and very crispy.
I'm hooked!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ann S.Los Angeles, CA028Apr 24, 2024
I have ordered 5 or 6 times and loved the brisket.
Today i had one nice piece and 3 old, dry, hard pieces which were obviously at least a day old. Had to throw all 3 in trash.
Offended they would try and pawn off old meat as fresh.
They are off my list.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 66157Jan 10, 2024
Let's keep yelp real!!!
I really wanted to like this place, especially because of the great reviews. Im not always in the Chinatown area so finding a good place to eat lunch was high on my list.
The restaurant is easy to miss because its in an industrial type building, really cool little spot. Not much seating and much of the clientele seems to order to go.
I ordered the 710 and a guava lemonade. Thankfully I had the time to wait because it took about 30 minutes to get my order. The Sandwich was a miss for me; the brisket was very very salty and overpowered all the other flavors.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 16, 2023
LA Brisket has been one of our go-to restaurants for our work lunches. My coworkers always enjoy their meals, whether it be the sandwiches or the bowls. We usually order for pick up and the staff is kind and courteous.
The OG bowl is my usual order. The brisket is tender and delicious and comes with a generous portion of the tasty garlic infused rice. The bowl also has a small side of slaw and the amazing green sauce. If you're in the mood for some smoked BBQ, this is definitely the place to go!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - 59844767819Dec 25, 2023
This hole in the wall BBQ restaurant is hidden from the street. There are a couple of tables to eat at or like most customers do they take the food to go. I ordered the 710 sandwich was pretty good albeit a bit pricey. I would've requested more pickles because the tanginess of the bbq sauce and pickles are a perfect combination.

I order their brisket bowl regularly bc it's sooooooo good. The meat is so tender and juicy. It has a beautiful smoked flavor. The slaw is delicious. And OMG the garlic rice!!! It's literally a perfect meal. If I could change a few things- the meat is a tad bit too salty. The green sauce is sooooo good and savory so I wish the meat was less salty. I also wish they were a little more generous with the slaw. Other than that, I crave the brisket here all the time!!!! Yum

A coworker couldn't finish her rib/barbecue rib sandwich. I'm going to be going to this place in person. This is the second time I've had some food from there and it's super tasty. It has great flavor. I'm glad I told her it smells yummy because she gave me the other half of her sandwich because she wasn't going home. Normally she takes it home and needs it later. The sandwiches are very hardy and the coleslaw has a nice acid balance.

LA brisket is hidden in Chinatown. The brisket was cooked and seasoned well, the acid in the slaw provided nice balance to the meat but the aioli did not work. It was distracting from the rest of the flavors. Personally I like pickled onions and I wish it had some.
The place is tiny with limited seating, and no AC so be prepared to take it to go. It should be 3.5 stars because of this but staff were nice so it is rounded up.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joseph W.Los Angeles, CA429625Mar 7, 2024Updated review8 check-ins
