Popped in here with my GF after skating around the city all day. It's a small spot, but they were super nice and gave us some place mats and we were able to dine in, which was great because we wanted to be able to sit for a minute to eat.
I got the lunch special lamb plate and it was incredible. The quality of the lamb was amazing, and their rice is really good. I had to skip the side salad (can't do tomatoes anymore) but the stewed veggies were delicious and tender. The lamb though was the obvious star. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and delicious.
My gf got the falafel wrap on yemeni bread and she said the falafel was perfectly crispy and all the other ingredients in the wrap paired well. She also loved the bread.
I highly recommend dropping into this place for lunch if you can! A must visit for anyone who loves mediterranean style food for sure. Will visit again.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jade Y.Western Addition, San Francisco, CA34599Jan 26, 2024
I ordered the roasted lamb, lentil soup, and Tawa bread with honey. It was more than enough food for 2 meals yet I was tempted to finish it in 1 because every bite tasted so good
Definitely a hole-in-the-wall. The owner was really sweetHelpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Adam C.Plano, TX121106Jan 19, 2024
In a city full of make believe, this place is authentic and wonderful. A very small place with blue collar vibes that is filled with inviting aromas and friendly greetings.
The absolute best baked chicken I've ever had.
I have tried most of the menu, and it was all great. Dining in SF can be a very hit or miss adventure, but the food at Yemen Kitchen is KILLER.
Don't mind the bums defecating on the street, the inside of this place is where it's at!
It's like being invited into someone's home with open arms and being blessed with a phenomenal meal. The guy that runs the place is great, the hot tea is just what you'll want to knock off a chill, then you will leave satisfied, fat and happy.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Aug 31, 2023
Most people cheering for the underdogs. I for most of the time also cheer for the underdogs too, unless those underdogs is not worth rooting for.
Roasted lamb was succulent and tender, but flavor was lacking and for the price it was not of a good value.
And hole in the wall can be overrated too.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jun 23, 2023
The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the delicious whif of smoke draws you right in. This little shop offers a delightful escape into the comforting flavors of Yemen. The start dish here caught my eye, and I knew I had to get that lamb kabsah to satisfy my inner cravings.
The pieces of lamb tasted tender and soft. Fresh off from the oven, it's infused with aromatic spices. The best part is all that is served alongside basmati rice and just a touch of saffron.
The place screams busy take-out orders from locals and friends, and that means you're going to be in for a treat! Just take a look at the kitchen, and you can see your dish all prepared and cooked right from the grill for you.Helpful 10Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0 - Freddie C.San Francisco, CA01Apr 24, 2024
The food is awesome! Aunthetic yemeni food! It is worth the money. I always get the roasted lamb whever I eat here and I always literally finish the whole serving. Serving is pretty huge and I think it's good enough for 2 people. That's how good it is.

I got the chicken stew to go. Chicken meat was falling off the bones. He called it a soup. There were lots of veggies, two pieces of chicken, one was a whole thigh. It was really good. Not too salty. They gave me two hugh pita bread. Veggies were zuchini and potatoes. $17. Sketchy neighborhood. I would go only day time. Yes, it is near police station but police are inside, not outside.
Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0Jul 30, 2016Previous reviewYou are definitely in the T hood. Small place with two tables, family style. Good thing we were offered utensils and napkins. Had the lamb and rice, deliciously tender. A lot of rice. One big plate for two. Hummus was good . Their bread was huge, crispy at first, soggy as the minutes pass. The baklava, skip since it was soggy too. The party of 3 men before us and 5 men after us all had the lamb rice. A single diner had some sort of soup. I just wondered if any other Arab single woman would ever come here to eat alone? Would i venture here again? No. Up the block, there were lots of guys milling around, drug deals? Not sure. Police station is at the end of the block, not a single police around. Just cars and the building. The lamb was good.

Excellent food at reasonable prices! Visited this restaurant the other day and totally enjoyed a rather large chicken sandwich along with milk tea all on a budget. Place is clean, staff was very accommodating. Highly recommend these guys any time!

Despite the constant view of drug addicted people outside the front door, this place is amazingly good.
I had the fish sandwich. We came when they first opened at 11 am and there was limited availability. I plan to go back at 4 pm when lamb is ready
In any case the fish sandwich was HUGE and delicious I took half home
The meat dish was very good, with the best hummus ever and served with their great bread
I paid cash to help the owner out.Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0
