Kung Food (West Road)
The fried rice didn't taste quite right, not sure what it was... instant rice maybe? It literally had nothing in it. Just yellow rice. The Sweet & Sour chicken was okay. The garlic broccoli wasn't good, I had some but threw out the rest. Threw out the rice. The egg rolls are small. I won't go here again. Maybe I'm just spoiled after Tai Street Market & Rice Bowl....?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alberto G.Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY08Dec 8, 2023
Excellent food and fast delivery. Large portions for sure. Highly recommend. Decided to also eat their restaurant and was not disappointed at all.

I walked over from my hotel half a block away. I asked the couple who was just leaving how the food was and they said it was good. So, I figured what the heck.
I ordered the Hot & Sour Soup, General Tao's chicken and requested small Pork LoMein on the side ... "we can't do a small Pork LoMein but I could substitute it for the rice". Ok, and I'd like a small fried rice too. No problem.
The soup was served to me in a To-Go container with a plastic spoon ... the Pork LoMein and fried rice were served to me in paper containers on a blue cafeteria tray with a plastic fork. My General Tao's was also served on a paper plate and an identical blue cafeteria tray! I had to ask for a real knife and fork! They just don't care!
To be fair, the food was decent with the exception of the broccoli being ice cold. My problem was being served in the restaurant as if I was a ToGo order. Compound this with the staff and chef, sitting pretty much right next to me, eating on real plates with real utensils!
If you treat me like a ToGo order you're going to get tipped like it's a ToGo order!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Louie M.Lakewood, CA412011Jun 11, 2023

Paper plates and poor service for being the only one there. Food was meh. Plastic utensils, what a joke. Sit down to order off the menu and they bring me a plastic food tray with a paper plate and styrofoam soup bowl. Won't be back

Came here while I was down here in Houston for a work training with a friend and I got the special fried rice which had chicken, pork, and shrimp and it was pretty bad. Food had no seasoning and very bland. I asked for spicy and there was no spice. It came with an egg roll and hot and sour soup. The soup was the best thing I got from it in my opinion. My friend got beef Lo Mein and he said it was okay but not something he would get again. I would not recommend this place to anybody. There was nobody there and that should've been the first sign but I decided to give it a try and will never be back. The Cajun spot a few doors down is 100x better. I wish I took a photo of how bad it was but I threw it away because it was so hard to eat.

Kung Food....? Well, Winni...to start, the lady that takes the orders is EXTREMELY rude...for absolutely no reason. Will NEVER order from there again.
China Star keeps a faithful customer! I'll stick with them. Better food...better service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 20, 2021
We did a walk in from our hotel. The staff at the door was very friendly and courteous and gave suggestions to us. The food came quickly and was delicious. My husband is an egg foo yong connoisseur and he really liked his shrimp dish. I had the pork Hunan style and it had just the right amount of heat. Yummy.

I ordered curry chicken. They said it would take 10 minutes. It came to the table in less than two minutes. Bad sign. Obviously, it was pre-made.
The supposedly curry sauce looked and tasted like a cheap spaghetti sauce, think Chef Boyardee, with curry powder mixed in.
The chicken had that industrialized a rubbery feel to it. Of course you experience that in many Chinese restaurants, but this was exceptionally rubbery.
I hate to leave a bad review for an independent restaurant, but they should be trying to outshine the big chain restaurants. I would've had a much superior and better tasting meal had I gone to Panda.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
