Service is amazing. Albeit I did go during spring break but the servers were still very nice. However the food was just meh. Every protein I ordered was dry and over cooked. So hard to chew and eat.
Do not eat the korean dishes lol. even the server told me not to eat it knowing i was korean. fried rice is good though.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Greg R.Dallas, TX183470356Aug 7, 2019
It was our friends birthday. She love sushi so we came here. Most of the sushi was good. The salmon could of been fresher. The Kant's didn't help either. Minus one point for those little critters and semi-fresh salmon.
Other than that, everything was great. The sushi rolls were delicious. Service ultra friendly. And the pricing, a bit pricier than it should be. I think this place is 3 and a half stars but I'll round up to 4 stars.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kairi M.TX, TX04Jun 25, 2023

They DID NOT HAVE A GLASS OF WATER for our party, so they asked us if we are okay with a bottle water(small one that you get in any store) to which we responded yes. When we got our receipt we were charged $3 for water.

We've been here every time we came to the island. We had good experience in the past. Even though it was more pricey than most Japanese restaurants this level, we figured being a tourist island it'd charge more.
We just went again this week, like previous times, they said they don't have drinking water and offered us bottled water. So they brought the regular bottled water. When we got the bill, we found out that they charged $2.95 per bottle! For our party of four, it's near $12 just for the water that should have been complementary! And there is no refill unless you want to buy another bottle. This is the water that sell for $2.50 for a 24-pack in a grocery store a few blocks away. Wow, that is a bit rip-off! Isn't it? The only place I know that doesn't offer free water and made customers paid high price for it.
Now the food... It's subpar at best. The food is bland. The portion is small. I ordered a Spicy Tuna Temaki on the side. A bit surprised for $7, the hand roll was quite inadequate.
Don't know if we'll ever go back, but if we do, I will not be paying for the over-priced water for sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Julius P.Westador, Houston, TX1112Apr 23, 2022
Convenient and great location. atmosphere was lively and welcoming, definitely busy. Didn't even wait to be seated which was great unfortunately only one chef was working hibachi so we waited about 20 minutes which we didn't mind.
The miso soup and salad was a little bland but still good to eat, we had their LA Roll which tasted great! But they forgot to add the spicy Mayo that the menu listed it had so we asked for the Mayo to be put on.
The hibachi chef was definitely worth the wait he was very charismatic and gave a great experience, his cooking is extremely good and would definitely come back for him.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alma Olivia A.Houston, TX01Jul 30, 2021
Don't go.
Don't go.
Sucks because we always wanted to try last frew times we came to Padre!!
Waited in the doorway unacknowledged for 15 minutes inside a steaming!! restaurant full of people with tables too close together and what seem like plenty of waitstaff running around seriously not making eye contact with the people clogging up the doorway.
Should have left but we wanted sushi.
First thoughts, where the heck is the waiter?! Which one is our waiter?! No one is making eye contact...
Which seems really weird because there seems to be enough waitstaff... Table in front of us is turned around trying to get someone, looking PISSED. Also what the heck is up with the AC why is it so damn hot in here?!
No bathroom soap or paper towels.
Dollar store looking bottle of extremely watery soap, you know when there's a last little bit and someone fills out with water then shakes it up? Well that's what was LEFT because it was so empty it had fallen over. Couldn't even get 2 pumps out.
MEN complaining in the open door of THEIR bathroom about no soap either!?! I asked them for paper towels because my toddler was crying about her wet hands.
Approached nearest waitress very nicely asking for soap with a toddler in tow because it's COVID-19 pandemic still and she was clearly bothered and got a bottle and LEGIT said, I'll just pump some in your hand, is that ok?
Are you f*ING kidding me.....................are we rationing the soap in this restaurant full of tons of people.... We waited a full 15 minutes to sit and another 20 to be acknowledged and order, not exaggerating!
$145 for:
two bottled beers ($5/each), a rainbow roll ($13), kid's meal, pork tonkatsu ($18), beef teriyaki ($19) california roll and two pathetic, greasy appetizers. The tiniest, slightly burned vegetable gyoza and shrimp tempura with 4 onion rings dominating the basket.
I asked if the pork tonkatsu came with vegetables, thinking it was a bowl as the menu descriptions are SPARSE, waiter said yes!, It comes with a cabbage base. It was literally like six slices of a pork cutlet, some shredded cabbage and a sauce for dipping, are you s*** me?! For $18!!
Guess what, my husband's $19 beef teriyaki was the same presentation, just some sliced up beef on a Japanese cafeteria plate... And it was not even good beef flavor or tender! Some strips of pale looking beef that they sprinkled with soy sauce and sesame seeds!
No FLAVOR!!
The worst part? The fried rice we all paid the upcharge for was just white rice mixed with soy sauce and the tiniest, tiniest bit of egg. No vegetables no large chunks of egg ..
No cups of water! We had to buy bottled water I think $3 a bottle...
When I was coming back from the restroom I saw a older Japanese gentleman trying to put on a loud enthusiastic show at a Hibachi table and my husband said I think that's the owner....I was thinking, get your ass over here and give me some soap!!!
I told my husband when we left, well.. now I know I could actually open a Japanese restaurant and I'm Mexican. Meaning I KNOW I could do better than it was done there. LMAO
Save yourself. RUN
Same experience at another Japanese restaurant in San Antonio and if this ever happens again I'm not going to be that nice patron who just pays my huge bill and leaves. I'm going to hit up the manager and be Karen because this is unacceptable for that amount of money And I don't like that it has happened more than once to me ever. Husband is not the type of guy to get a manager he'll just complain about it non-stop later.
I want my money back!!!
Someone else open a decent Japanese on the island!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rusty G.TX, TX01Oct 5, 2022
This restaurant is surprisingly good. The staff is friendly and quality of the sushi rolls and main courses are very good. They have a very extensive menu and affordable prices. I don't usually like Miso soup but I like theirs. My wife loves their spicy noodle soup and so does my grandson. There are a lot bland restaurants on the island. This is not one of them. Give it a try.

After years of going to this establishment, I am very disappointed by my last few experiences here. To begin with, the tornado roll I ordered was soaking in a liquid. This is not normal. I've gotten it many times before. The fried rice smelled like it had bad eggs that looked undercooked. To top this off, we ordered our large meal as takeout for a family dinner, and they added an 18% gratuity automatically. I am sorry but I believe that if we are not being served at a table and tended to, then the tip should be my choice. It should also be stated clearly online that the gratuity is added in for takeout.
