    • Q:

Where is the best place to park?

      A:

Right in the Uwjimaya parking lot as it's located inside this grocery store and you can get parking validated if you spend a certain amount depending on how long you plan to stay but it's really easy to hit that limit.

    • Q:

Are the books cheaper than barnes and noble? specifically the manga?

      A:

No, they will be the same, or slightly higher, due to import fees.

An excellent collection of Japanese literature in both native and English language editions. Obviously they import lots of product from overseas so costs are more than you would expect on Amazon, but in all reality with VATs and other bs taxes, prices are actually great and fair.

Personally, I am a huge kaiju fan. The Gojira/Godzilla products available are tucked into an upstairs corner-- a 3x5ft display case and similar size bookshelf contain all Godzilla related products. I was really hoping for more figurines but that is not the situation here. Lots of Monsterverse products but currently it's all Kong from Godzilla vs Kong...

I purchased the one product I wanted from the display case (All Godzilla posters from 1954-Shin Godzilla in a nice package) which was very reasonably priced compared to a quick google check.

Highly recommend this business because they have so much more to offer than just Godzilla.

We always stop in a Kinokuniya where ever we are. We have one that is located in the Bay Area where we live but always stop in as you never know if you'll find something that you haven't seen in the Bay Area location.
My son always purchases the model kits and picked up a few for his next project. It's a good store that has a load of books and stuffies.

Everytime I stop in "just to browse", I walk out with manga or some cute anime thing.

Downstairs is a normal Japanese bookstore with supplies, regular books, plushies, and other fun items. While upstairs there is a great selection of manga, gaming books, and figurines.

I only wish I could find more volumes of Maid Sama to complete my set. But when it comes to Attack on Titan, MHA, and other popular Shonen comics, they have all the copies you need!

The store is well kept, and the staff has always been friendly. It was fairly empty the last time I stopped in, but I have seen it get quite crowded on the weekends.

This bookstore was a great surprise! Manga, collectibles, posters galore!! I absolutely love the choices. Only thing is because they are packing in so many selections there are books everywhere!! Tables are filled up. They deserve so much more space for all the entertainment and materials they are providing us!!

Cool book/hobbie store. They have a lot of books and toys, especially from Japan. A lot of Totoro items, toys and pretty gift items. The store had a lot of merchandises and people that it was often difficult to walk around, but was able to kill time here, definitely.

This bookstore is two floors of awesomeness! The first floor is stationary, mangas, plushies, and so much more. The second floor is figurines and more manga.

I could spend hours here looking at everything.

My husband got a groku figurine that he has never seen before and it is not on Amazon. I got these cute totoro erasers.

Since the groku figurine was in a glass case upstairs, when we went to the cashier, they had to go upstairs and grab it. The cashiers were very respectful and made sure it fit appropriately in the box.

I definitely recommend checking out this bookstore if you're in the area.

I came here mostly for the stationary products. They have a fantastic selection of paper, notebooks, pens, pencils and other stationary related things. They have a large collection of fountain pens. Not only do they have the Japanese brands (Pilot, Uni-Ball, Zebra, Pentel, Sailor and Platinum, etc.) but they also carry German made pens as well (Lamy, Kaweco et al.).

I've only spoke with one employee, but she was friendly, helpful and actually asked me questions, so she could find out what product would be best for my needs. I wish I could remember her name.

The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because the prices are quite high. I realize that this is brick-and-mortar, and not Amazon. Taking this into account, I still feel the prices are too high.

If you love anime and manga, you need to come here! As soon as a stepped in, I saw Totoro and I was so happy :D they had so many cute products!! I saw Pusheen products, some smaller business products, Smiski, and more. Downstairs would have to be more of the stationary goods, home goods and clothing but upstairs is heaven to a anime/manga fan like me haha.

Upstairs you can see cut outs of characters, manga, funko pops, and figurines. I really enjoyed walking through every aisle. They have so much! They also have full sets of manga. There were some deals as well that I saw regarding buying a certain amount to get a discount which was neat. The people working here were also kinda and efficient at helping people check out :) I would definitely come here again if I'm ever back in the area!

I finally found it - the Nausicaa hardcover 2 volume slipcase set! Apparently I got lucky because one of the staff there told me they keep selling out of those as soon as they arrive. So happy! I also picked up some Midori inserts and a set of Blackwing pencils.

But that's not all they have! Shelves full of manga and other books of various genres. Aisles of cute figurines/plushies/etc. A whole Miyazaki section. Tons of papercraft and journaling material. And the big surprise for me: an AWESOME collection of fountain pens! It was great to see the fountain pen I use (a Pilot Custom 742) in the display case alongside many other amazing pens. And they sell the inks there too.

Great place to stop by - friendly staff and great selections!
