The business owners filtered out my previous review. Here it is again.

I hired King Hardwood to refinish the existing floors and add more hardwood to the adjacent areas. Before they started the job, we walked over the house, and I specifically asked about removing baseboards, covering the walls with plastic to protect them, smoothing out some areas, etc. Mr and Mrs Ho agreed to do these things. Imagine my surprise when on day two they started sanding away without 1) removing the baseboards or 2) covering the walls with plastic. After I complained, they did remove baseboards (not all of them). Covering the walls was too late, everything was covered in dust. They said they would clean up when the job was done, but they did not clean at all. They left my house a total mess. It took me three full days to clean up.

The finished work looks bad! There are puddles and splotches of polyurethane on the stairs and in every corner of every room. Several boards of the new floor area have started to pop up out of the floor due to bad cuts or lack of curing.

Some of the problems were pointed out to the Ho's -- they said they would fix it, and the fixes looked even worse. I am so sorry I ever hired these people. The quality of the work is really bad, and it's clear I'm going to have to have all the floors redone since the boards are literally coming out. Even the sanding was unever, so the floors have swirly spots in some places. It literally looks like I did it myself.

Sam came out and looked at our gauged & scratched wood floors. He told us we only had 1 more refinish left on Hardwood and he gave us a competitive price. I would recommend Sam, he and his family have refurbished floors for us on 2 previous homes.

I hired King Hardwood to repair and add to the oak floors in my house. They did a crappy job and left my house a total mess.

The new areas of installation look OK, but don't completely blend with the old parts. There are several boards from the old floor that were cracked or stained that were left in - they should have been replaced. They didn't remove the baseboards in all rooms. The polyurethane around the edges of the rooms is not evenly applied and looks streaky. And instead of removing my washer they didn't refinish the floor at all underneath that part of the floor.

All of these things were brought to the Ho's attention during the job and I was told they would be fixed. They were not. Do not hire these people.

My boyfriend and I recently purchased a fixer in Oakland that needed some serious TLC. I had briefly toyed with the idea of renting a drum sander and going to town on our beat up floors myself, but after watching video after video of DIY Hardwood Refinishing Tutorials, confidence in my skills diminished to zero.

Originally, this task was on the "want" not "need" list. however, the thought of having to move our old and heavy furniture around after we moved in to have the floors refinished in the near future was making me ill. Perfect time to do it, when there is nothing in the house!
Plus, the hardwood throughout the house was looking pretty grim: old mystery carpet adhesive(?) had disintegrated into the stairway, every room had a different color floor (sometimes multiple colors), stains left from potted plants, cat pee stains... it was bad. After talking to a couple of hardwood guys that told me the best solution in some of the rooms was to just throw some carpet on it (I hate carpet) I had Sam from King Hardwood come out twice to check out the scene: once to see if it was salvageable, and second just so I could hear him say it again: that it was salvageable.

Wow. They were fast. I was told it was going to take 6 days- they were finished in 4! They had the best price compared to others in the area.

The only downside is that they don't do vertical surfaces, so beware if you are having a stairway done.

Other than that- excellent work! I love my floors- beautiful and so much more lovely than I expected.

Would highly recommend! Working with Sam was great and easy, unbeatable quote, and restored our damaged wood floors to look new again.

I recently had my kitchen floor refinished and I am very pleased with the results. It looks like a brand new floor. I had gotten three bids on the job and Amazing Floors was $500 more than Sam's bid. I wanted a grey stain on the floors and he promptly brought me a piece of wood so that I could see a sample of how it would stain. He also was very professional. He also came on a Sunday to apply the last coat of poly urethane on the floor. I would highly recommend King as Sam runs his business in a very professional manner and also his fees are considerably less than any other floor company.

I called Sam & he was able to work around my schedule & give me a quote very fast. It took less than 10 minutes for him to give me the breakdown. He came in lower than the competition & was well worth it.

This small family owned business is a real Oakland gem. They are timely, professional, experienced and extremely fair. They also kept everything really clean -- as refinishing floors can create a lot of dust and fumes. I shopped around for 4-5 quotes, and these folks were the cheapest. I got a good feelingtrusted Yelp reviews, because cheapest isn't always the best. I couldn't have been more pleased with their work.
