We teach small classes in a large building! We have been in Raleigh since 1974. Ask your neighbors if they know us? We teach an age specific curriculum in different classes. Children enjoy the many different classes of fun to choose from, families love us, adults come in to the adult only atmosphere in the evenings and let go of all their stress. If you are looking for a martial arts program that runs deep with experience, continuing education for the instructors and compassion, then we are the place. We treat every person as an individual. Our instructors are adults, certified in Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Iaido and Kendo (Japanese sword fighting). Parents get their workouts for free on our treadmill/cardio area while their children are in classes. Call or email for an orientation and tour.

Our son's karate training is going very well from our perspective. He is motivated to attend, he is clearly enjoying his classes and has made friends with several of his fellow students. We continue to be impressed with the leadership team and all of the staff who strive to get the most from their students while keeping the student motivated.
We were new to karate when we started coming here just over a year ago. We had heard some great things about Karate International, but how were we to know how truly good it would be? It is not just the excellent karate skills that the staff have here. It is clear that this is at a very high level. But it is the philosophy and the tone that it is set at this Dojo from the very top. Mr. and Mrs. O set the bar very high. And their leadership and approach is propagated down through the full staff and to the students. They have created a place where excellence, and respect are fundamental expectations from all students and instructors, for themselves and for each other. But maybe more importantly they have created this also within a family environment where making certain that the students are having fun and feel safe is a core part of the mission.
Our son recently participated in the Karate International tournament - which was not an easy thing for him to decide to do. He is actually a pretty shy kid and did not initially think that he wanted to participate. But Josh, and Mr Shotwell, knowing how great this first step could be for him, worked hard to encourage him to sign up. He was convinced, and went for it.
Saturday on our way home from the tournament he told us, "you know my life is pretty much perfect right now". I think that sums up our experience with Karate International so far. We look forward to continuing our experience here. Thanks for doing such an awesome job!

If you're looking for THEE Karate School/Dojo, this is IT! Our son has a ton of energy, and this has been a great way for him to channel his energy in a good, positive, and fun manner. I love hearing him say "Mommy, Daddy, I'm going to work really hard on my snapping front kicks so I can get my next stripe." Already a goal setter... LOVE IT!
His coordination, balance, and focus has certainly improved and it has only been 30 days. He enjoy meeting new friends with common goals, and loving the class program, and challenges. We deeply appreciate the positive encouragement from his instructors, the family-like atmosphere, and enjoy seeing their interactions with the students.
Thank you Karate International for being your awesome selves. Everything you implement is with purpose, and we're loving it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Taking martial arts to the next level, great instruction and very nice people. My Judo classes are great and I learn something new every week and having lots of fun mastering the skills given by top instructors.
Beginner's are given a suit to try out and introduce you to the classes to see which martial art you would like to participate in.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

KI is a place filled with people who love what they do. We're always warmly greeted and there's so much encouragement there that my son broke out of his shyness almost immediately! His teachers are so patient and kind. The other teachers always go out of their way to speak and are genuinely nice. My kids also love their play area and sometimes we start after class so they can play. If you're looking for an extracurricular activity for you kids, or yourself, I would definitely recommend this place.

My husband and I have been students at Karate International of Raleigh for over 10 years now. KI of Raleigh is a family run business and we truly have become part of the family. I was 49 and my husband was 51 years old when we first walked through the doors - so nervous because we knew NOTHING about martial arts. We wanted to do something together after our grown children moved out, something to improve our health and become more physically fit.. From the very first class, we knew we were in the right place - the teachers were all very supportive and best of all, partnered with us throughout our martial arts journey. I am now a 3rd degree Blackbelt and my husband is about to get his 1st degree Blackbelt.
When you can learn from and train with a 10th degree Blackbelt as well as the best teachers in the industry, why would you look any where else?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
