One of the best Banh Mi spots in San Diego. Nice to see this place up and running again after being burned down in 2015. With an assortment of banh mi's (under $5), viet pastries, and your standard viet coffees/slushies, its really nice to see this place up and running.
One thing I really enjoy about this place is that they aren't skimpy with their banh mi fillings. They pack their baguettes with thick cuts of meat and pickled veggies.
Definitely a bang for your buck. Would highly recommend!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 12, 2024
Definitely a clean and newer looking space. The kiosks were helpful for me as a newcomer, allowing me to explore my options without holding up the main line. I didn't make any changes to my sandwich but am glad I can add some extra jalapeños at no extra cost. The only downside was that I had to buy the sticky rice separately as the kiosks are reserved for those ordering sandwiches and drinks (possibly more).
I was delighted to see the selection of baked goods including ham and cheese croissants and fresh baguettes for sale. The mound of loose cans of soda and other prepackaged drinks was a little confusing but understandable - sometimes storage is tough to manage.
Was bustling when I went. Tried studying/reading but it was a bit loud due to the sheer number of people in the establishment. Not a problem.
My spread of food - banh mi, sticky rice, and Thai green tea - was immaculate. So delicious. Will be back for more.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Judy L.Boston, MA01416Apr 15, 2024
I remember coming here all the time back when I was a student and the sandwich prices were $3-$5 but now sandwich price has gone up to $6-$8. But in all honestly the price is still pretty low and fair and the taste is just as I remembered. The baguette was fresh where it was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect amount of meat to pickled vegetables and herbs ratio, and each bite always blended so well together. The breakfast sandwich was also delicious with a freshly baked flakey buttery croissant and well worth the price for how big it is! I won't, however, get their coffees again. The caramel iced latte was insanely sweet and as you can see from the picture more ice than coffee.
As it's always been in the past, this place was packed with customers but the service was still very fast and efficient where I didn't have to wait too long. K sandwiches will always be somewhere I love to go when I need a quick and cheap eat.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vixnee e.San Diego, CA02932Mar 5, 2024
The service was alright, popping out food quick but not the drinks.
The tables & seats weren't clean, the table I waited at had crumbs on it including the chairs.
The sandwich overall was just like any other basic sandwich but what really got me was that there was no flavor. not really seeing the hype for this place
- I ordered the Turkey & cheese on a baguette ( 8.59)
- Green apple slushy (6.25) this was pretty good! They just forgot my drink with the order so I needed to wait extra for thatHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Mar 25, 2024Updated review82 check-ins
3/25/24 - I did a phone order for a number 9, club croissant and a tea. They told me 15-20 minutes. I was down the street and went in to pay. I called only 5 minutes ago and everything was ready to go. No line as well. It was about 11:30am. See photos. I eat here several days a week.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 1, 2023Previous review11/1/23- I did a phone order. I've been going here for a long time and prior to joining Yelp. Before Ks fire and the wait for it to come back. I'm so glad the rebuilt! I ordered 3 number 9's and bobo drinks. Bobo drinks rocked like usual. I've never had poor service or food. Service was excellent. Returned home and we all cut the sandwiches in half to eat. We noticed all of them look a little different in color and looked undercooked. Started to eat and we all agreed it did not taste like it usually does and threw away about $30. The meat wasn't flavorful, very bland and tasted undercooked and looked undercooked. The smell also wasn't the best. Going from my usual 5 stars to just 1 star for this. Hope we don't get sick. The meat didn't smell right as well and we still smell it. Check the meat before eating. I will go again and hope this batch was a very rare incident. If this was my first experience, I wouldn't go back. I know they have stellar items. See photos of todays not so good number 9s.
Aug 14, 2022Previous reviewLarge portions and very good prices. Great selection to choose from for Vietnamese sandwiches and traditional American sandwiches. I love the #9. The baguette bread is phenomenal and so are the croissants. I suggest to call in an order for pick up or you may be waiting for some time in line to order.

I have eaten here many times over the years but it seem like the quality of the food has decreased. The banh mi sandwiches aren't as flavorful and the baguette is not how I remember. On our visit today, my mom ordered the Grilled Chicken Banh mi and she said it was extremely salty. At first glance, I thought the Chicken was under cooked. Unfortunately, it didn't look or taste that great and for a restaurant that is known for their sandwiches, it is disappointing. The dessert here, however is 10/10. I love that this place is spacious and clean with lots of tables inside and out. They also have a fresh bakery section and lots of Vietnamese drinks/desserts. The staff here are nice and I would still recommend this place, just not their sandwiches.

Bakery/cafe Serving authentic Vietnamese sandwiches and a few other meal options such as rice and noodle combo plates, this is one of my go to spots for banh mi sandwich's. They offer a variety selection of different types of sandwiches with a vegetarian options as well , also serving breakfast sandwiches, coffee teas, smoothies and juices.
ordered fresh sugar cane drink , chicken bao and my favorite the "K special" banh mi sandwich.
Everything in the sandwich from the bread, meat and veggies was fresh and the bao was still warm, I notice early in the day you can catch the packaged lunches still hot/warm.
The service was quick and staff have always been friendly and patient, the restaurant has a dining area that's pretty spacious and well organized.
Things to know:

Love their grilled pork banh mi with pate!! They don't skimp out on meat and the bread is always so fresh. I also love they've kept their prices much more affordable than pretty much any other banh mi spot in the area. Their other bakery items which include a variety of croissants, cookies, and pastries are also delicious!

Great cheap place for your banh mi fix! Banh mi is cheap for less than $10 & enough to feed 2 people. We usually pay the extra couple dollars to get extra meat as well & you can get extra pickled veggies for free. Their spring rolls are good too, but I feel like they're skimpy on the amount of meat & barely give a super thin slice. Their Vietnamese coffee is cheap as well but it wasn't the best in my opinion, I've had better.

Hi! I grew up in OC and it's been DIFFICULT to find something in SD close to the amazing Viet food that Bolsa has to offer. Babes, let me tell you. The banh mi banh is so flakey and soft which pairs well with the amount of fillings. The coffee was great. Service is what you expect, but the cashier was nice and recommended the coffee. Ambiance is cafe like. When my friend and I were there there were some people doing homework, on business calls and others generally vibing and happy. Felt the closest to home while not at home; really happy to find this place. I'm going back to try the che and pastries next time. Can't recommend the fried banana enough. Large and flavorful. It was $2.50. I'm in the market for a good pho place in SD so if anyone has recommendations, please share.
