I usually find eyewear stores to be uncomfortable, especially after Covid hit, but even before that. It's almost comparable to a car dealership. Sometimes I want to just sit in the cars and check out all the different models before I ask for a test drive and get down to business. The same is true with glass frames, let me breathe, try on a few pairs and figure out what I like.
Well that's what a customer gets when they come to Jin's. 1st step is grab a tray and try on frames. Once a person is done, they are to put the used frame in the tray so that it can be disinfected.
After choosing a frame, a person will take it to the counter. The employee will measure pupils and type in the individual's prescription. If it's a single vision prescription, the glasses, both lens and frame will be ready for pick up in less than 45 minutes.
What stood out to me is the comfortable atmosphere, the hip music played in the background, the awesome customer service provided by the staff. All frames with lens are between $80-$140 from what I saw. Who needs insurance when the frames and lens are so cheap and is ready in 45 minutes!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 1 - 662208250Dec 19, 2021
Jins was an amazing experience to purchase glasses from. As someone who spends hours on end on my laptop working yelping and watching tv, I was due for new glasses.
Upon entering Jins there is a plethora of glasses to select from and you are given a tray to place all the glasses you try onto for the employees to sanitize later. You must try all frames while wearing a face mask and you are able to select a frame to order and place for pick up same day!
When I went I was able to find a frame that I really loved within 20 minutes of browsing and I gave them to the desk at the back of the store. If you are someone with a single vision prescription, Jins is great and it works out to be cheaper than getting glasses from an eye-doctor.
Although they do not take insurance all you end up paying is the price of the frame as the lenses themselves are included for free along with free UVA/UVB protective coating, antiglare coating, and optional blue light blocking coating!
You also can place your order the same day and pick it up within 30 minutes with a complementary eyeglass case that you can choose the design of.
For my glasses the total cost including UVA/UVB protective coating, antiglare coating, and optional blue light blocking coating came out to $120 which was simply the price of the frames.
Do keep in mind however, that if you are someone who has progressive lenses or bifocal vision needs, or any other special order like polarized, photochromic, and tinted lenses then the glasses cost more and the time it takes to make the lenses can be up to two weeks (this was the case for my dad).
All in all Jins is a great place to get glasses from, **and they also do free glass tightening, nose pad replacements and cleaning*Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 249531535Aug 16, 2022
Made it to the final hurrah.
I remember how exciting it was to have JINS in union square as the first flagship store in the US west coast.
Fast forward to present day- was really pleased that the customer service and team still delivered above and beyond service up until their closing day. Sad to see this gem go!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Third time coming to this Jins Location and it was a horrible experience. Lack of customer service!
I haven't come back here since late 2019 and wow it has changed alot. Staff were not friendly and no customer service. No one on the floor to greet you, provide info, or answer any questions you may have.
After spending about 30 mins to pick out frames we get in line and it took another 30 mins for us to get helped. Mind you there was only 1 person in front of us who came to get their frames re-adjusted.
Hui Yu helped us purchase a pair of glasses. However on my receipt she changed her name to "Alana" which was one of the other workers name there. Very straight foward interaction, asked for my prescription and measured a couple things. She did not offer me any of the additional lenses nor provided information. After paying all she said was "pickup in 30 mins" then walked away. Not professional at all and no sense of customer service. Does not feel like an optometry store with those vibes. Not expecting the best customer service but at least some basic type of customer service since I am purchasing prescription glasses.
When I came back to pick up my glasses. Hui was in the back and kept glancing at me but ignored me. Waited for about 10 mins and then Alana ended up helping me, and she was way more friendly.
Overall this Jins store is not the same. Employees seem to not care about their customers or their products.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 7, 2017Previous reviewLove this place for getting my prescription eyewear for a great price!
They prescription eyewear and sunglasses. Wide selection and SO many styles to choose from.
Store is very clean. Organized. Easy to find the item you are looking for as well. They have a seating area with a few chairs and couches.
Browsed their online website to see if they had the style I wanted and I found two that I really liked. They also offer several colors of a certain style.
My first visit I looked around to find the glasses I wanted but they only had the red version in stock so sadly I couldn't purchase glasses that day.
I come back a month later since I don't like to go downtown often because very busy! This time they had the turtoise and gold version of the glasses I liked. I tried both and decided on the gold ones. Asked an associate if they had it and stock and luckily they did and it was the last pair. LUCKY ME!
The process is pretty fast IF your lenses and frames are both instock. Just filled out paperwork. Wait 30 mins or less and my glasses were ready. The associate that helped me out was very nice and informative. GREAT customer service!
Will be coming back in the future for my prescription eyeglasses need. Stylish and reasonably priced. - Jun 8, 2022Updated review
My yearly trip to JINS to get a new prescription filled. I viewed online for the frame that I would like to try on and purchase. I got to store a little after they opened on the weekend. I asked the sales associate if they had this specific frame in the store to try on.
She found the frames, I tried it on, and went straight to the service desk to get my glasses prescription filled. The same sales associate helped complete this process. I was out of the store in under 15 minutes.
Thank you JINS for another great glasses experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0May 27, 2019Previous reviewI came to Jins with a plan. Find two pairs of eyeglass frames that I liked and walk out with two prescription glasses. After trying on multiple frames, I found the two frames that I liked.
The fitting process was easy. The associate was helpful with me in explaining my prescription, asking if I needed it for distance or reading. Uncertain, I was able to test both and decided on the correct choice for all day where.
In 30 minutes both my glasses were done. I liked how simple and fast the process was. Also the prices for the frames and lenses are so affordable. I will recommending Jins to all my friends and relatives. - 2266135May 2, 2022
The prices are very reasonable for me when I didn't have any vision insurance. You can pick up a decent pair of glasses for $100-150+ without any insurance. You will need to bring in a valid prescription.
The staff is very helpful
Parking is basically non existent if you're in the downtown area unless you find a parking garage .Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Annie C.Iron Triangle, Richmond, CA139249Apr 28, 2022
One sentence!
Clean, fast, no hassle!
But Yelp want me to leave mooore words in order to post this review.
Clean:
Open space ,well lit, everything is organized and pleasing to the eyes. They clean all the glasses on the display and got sign for standard procedure for keeping it clean. One of procedure for guest is that we given a tray placing glasses frame on so we can pick freely and tru the glasses frame, afterward we return the tray with unwanted glasses for staff to clean off and return back to the display table. So the frame will Germ free for next guests.
FAST:
Did you know that I submitted prescription and picked glasses on same day and got it within 30 min or less??
Well, Oh yesss!! I DID. How? They got a robotic machinery that do the lens fixing for u, no human error and done accurate. U don't need to wait, u can back later after 30 min or before the store close. I went lunch at food court per Brian recommendation.
NO HASSLE:
They got a device that take a measurement for framing fitting on your face. The staff member Brian was very patient, honest and down to earth friendly. He recommended me the blu light Len that protect our eyes from harmful light from cell phone, TV and PC monitor. It is free add on features. He was very honest, when he grab the wrong lens, he double check with me if I want the blue light Len, right? But I grab the regular one" it wasn't his fault, I was the one who said I want regular lens at first but he convinced me and I changed myself last min. I love way he communicating with customers, very genuine.
Oh if your frame need adjustment later on.
You always swing by they will adjust it for u. No hassle! ;)
Shout out to Brian " thank you so much!"Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 8, 2021Updated review
Just received my shipped glasses today! A tracking email was sent to me earlier in the week. Although they came a couple of days later than the expected delivery date, they still came within the same week, well packaged, and most importantly I'm satisfied with my glasses. My receipt included the name of the person who I mentioned in my previous review. Thanks for your help Eloisa H.
Tip: Apparently leaving a review will also score you a free drink redeemable in store, cool!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 4, 2021Previous reviewI've been to the Santa Clara location and loved the experience and the prices. This year I came to the SF location to use up my FSA funds before they expire. I made an appointment online. Upon arrival the security guard took my temperature and explained that we could use the wooden trays to collect the glasses that we tried on. Throughout my time in the store the staff came by to check on me and to collect glasses that I didn't want anymore. I am pretty indecisive so I was making my rounds over and over again and choosing glasses for quite a while. No one rushed me and there weren't a lot of people in the store at once. It felt very safe and clean. Tons of glasses to choose from.
All the staff were great. Excellent customer service. They gave me a second opinion on which glasses to choose and were very thorough in making sure my new glasses fit me correctly. They were really helpful to my parents, as it was their first time at Jins. There was a bit of a misunderstanding about insurance with my parents, but the woman at the counter was really patient with explaining everything to us. Jins doesn't work with any insurance and are considered out of network--but depending, your insurance may be able to reimburse you. My parents' glasses weren't in stock (we were told it would take about 2-3 weeks for them to get shipped to the house), but my glasses were in stock, so we came back after 30 minutes to do the fitting. In the back there was a sink for me to wash my hands and remove my contacts. Turns out my new glasses weren't made correctly! But they handled it well and offered to ship them to me for free instead of waiting another 30 minutes. If you have an old pair of Jins glasses you can get the lenses upgraded (free without add-ons, or $60 with the addition of Jins Screen). I opted for this option, and again, they were very thorough in making sure I was satisfied with them. Do you ever intend on asking for something and totally forget to ask? I intended in asking for new nose pads and would have forgotten but they offered to replace them for me and that's when I knew I loved Jins lol. Things felt a bit dizzying since I had quite a big change in my prescription for my right eye. Because of this they marked my old lenses w/ a dry erase marker (to distinguish which side was which) and had me keep them in case I ever wanted to switch them out. They showed me how to pop out the lense and pop them back in. This was before we found out my new pair was made incorrectly. I have on my new lenses now and they are perfect--it won't be necessary for me to switch them out. But I always appreciate the extra care offered in customer service, and I really appreciated that gesture regardless. The woman who helped us out was petite and had long pastel lavender hair--shout out to her!
I would happily continue coming here for my glasses in the future :) - Nov 12, 2020
All eyes on me!!! Thanks, Mr. Shakur. Actually, Jins had all eyes on the glasses. Unfortunately, no assistance due to COVID restrictions and social distancing, meaning my friend and I had to consult one another about the style, fit, and durability of the glasses. Thank god knowing and owning glasses are a part of the teaching profession, especially when your eyes start to twitch from staring at little boxes known as your students.
Nonetheless, the industrial layout was clean and spacious enough for people to stay six feet apart while getting their "model-on" in the giant full-body mirrors. This day, I was a mere butler, holding the tray of glasses for my friend.
Performing my "Geoffrey" duties, going from rack to rack as my friend smiled or grimaced at her face in the mirror, I found there to be great eye candy from the conveyor belts to the bikes on the wall. For a few hours, I felt like I could afford living in San Francisco. Anyway, the walls were stocked with a variety of stylish glasses and cool shades! The glasses were reasonably priced and we walked out with two pairs the same day!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Victor T.San Francisco, CA39763Aug 3, 2022
Thank goodness this place is closing. I love JINS, but the place has got to go. Their staff, especially the rather large man (really large). I believe he wore glasses too. He snapped at me and my wife when we just pulled down our masks a little bit to see how we looked in the glasses. We did not take it off, we just moved it slightly below our mouths to see what the glasses looked like. He yelled at us across the room and walked over to warned us not to do it again in a very rude and demeaning tone. He then walked back to the customer service desk. I get it that you need to practice safety precaution, but one everyone else was doing it, and he did not need to yell across the room to make us feel embaressed. Other staff was nice to inform us about the strict regulations and we were okay with that. That man though.
The next time we came here, we were buying a pair of glasses, as much as I had hoped it would not be him. He was him at the counter. The large man again was very rude, he did not greet us, look at us or smile or anything. He physically ripped the prescriptions out of my hand and spoke in a very condesending tone. We did not like this location very much. We been to the other JINs and staff were all good all around. I am disappointed that this big guy was still here after all this time. He was so rude and needs to go.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
