Hidden Gem in Tehachapi! Great food, fair price, but above all else Great service. Top 10 steaks I've ever had. Grade A service!
I've had the filet mignon, cut it with my fork.
Also the Ribye, great cut, definitely a return customer. Nathan was an Awesome server.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 21, 2024
This place has a full bar and a nice comfortable restaurant.
I got lucky that my friend wife knew the owner and was able to accommodate us to have Christmas Eve dinner here. This place was sold out and was by reservation only.
We had gotten lucky cause our waitress was very happy and accommodating for us.
I had told my friends that I would be buying their dinners.
I ordered a salad and the Salmon dinner and Dave wife ordered the Christmas special Diana Steak dinner with salad and Dave ordered the Filet Mignon with a salad, he also had a couple of beers and his wife had a couple of cocktails, I didn't drink any alcohol, since I had a two hour drive back home.
I insisted that we each ordered a different dessert, the desserts were really good, although the menu says they have Carrot Cake, but they no longer have that. I had ordered the mixed berry tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Dawn ordered a slice of cheese cake and Dave had the Molten Lava cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, we each sample each other's and then ate our own dessert. Dave's dessert was just way too rich, but at the same time very sweet and tasty. I really was happy with my dessert, it was just right and not too sweet.
I highly recommend this place when you are up in the small town of Tehachapi or passing through.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kelli P.Salinas, CA03Apr 13, 2024
Visited for the first time last weekend. I had the Alfredo which was good it was not $18 good. Husband got burger, he said it was "ok"
However we were a party of 12 In the large room. There was another party. They were loud and got progressively drunk useing vulgar language with no regard to the child at our table. While my pasta was good. Others in our party complained their steaks were dry and tough. My grandma had mashed potatoes and had to add butter from the $5 bread we ordered. They were dry and had no flavor.
We couldn't talk to our server about it as she didnt come back until one of our party went to the bar and had to ask for her. By that point our drinks were empty, no refils or checking on us. She gave one diet soda and apologized and said she would come back with the correct and then disappeared again. Reading the owners response on another member of my partys review. Is absolutely unprofessional and disgusting. We didnt go asking for special treatment we didnt even make a fuss about the other party (not like we could since our server was not around) its a shame. This could have been a frequent stop. But it will not be now. Disappointing in the service, food, and "owner"Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1422460Apr 13, 2024
Came in tonight after making a reservation earlier in the day. Our server was Cody and he was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! He offered us local sourdough bread which was amazing and warm. I ordered the salmon with a honey glaze on it with veggies and fries instead of rice pilaf (because I shared them with my daughter). My daughter got the kids grilled cheese which was on the sourdough and so delicious. My parents got the salmon as well and steak. Everything was so delicious we didn't take pictures because we couldn't wait to taste. It's cozy and nice inside and just amazing service. Highly recommend and make sure to make reservations. Next time I will take pictures.

This place was so cute! We were able to bring our dog on the patio which is always a plus! Food and drinks were great! I am upset I don't remember our servers name but she was on top of everything with making sure we had what we needed and always had full drinks!

Took my friend here for her birthday. Service was outstanding. My friend ordered a French dip and fries, mine a Chinese chicken salad. The French dip was enjoyed but I can't say the same for my salad. Chicken on the top was dry and mostly just the lettuce. I definitely wanted my friends sandwich. They were nice enough to sing happy birthday with a delicious looking sundae.

Then about 5pm I thought about Jakes and wondered if they had any specials for the night. When I called they were so busy they said with reservations and take outs that our order wont be ready until 7:30. That wasn't a problem so we ordered. They were offering Top Sirloin with crab and lobster on top, with a side and veggies for $30. Chicken Cordon Blue for $24 or three cheese ravioli for $18.
I ordered three of the top sirloin cooked medium rare. We also had to have desserts for the special night. We got the chocolate lava cake, italian lemon cake and an apple tart.
Called at 7:30 and was told our order was ready for curbside pick up. We got it home, plated it and everything was delicious. The top sirloin was cooked perfectly, my son even inhaled the veggies. In our house thats a big deal he isn't a veggie kind of guy. The amount of seafood on top was not much, what was there was yummy. I have zero complaints and now I am thinking we should make this a tradition every New years Eve.
I think Michael was the person who helped me on the phone, even know it sounded like chaos in the background, he was very nice and had no problem explaining everything.Mar 5, 2020Previous reviewThis is another restaurant I have been to at least 20 times when I wasn't actively Yelping. I used to go with my lady I cared for almost every week. This was her favorite place to go and she had been a regular for many years. It was super cute to see how the staff treated her when she came in.
We used to order a sandwich with a cup of the prime rib soup. Some of my favorites back then, black and blue burger, patty melt, and Ruben. You have to try the sweet potato fries, super delicious.
Last night was a very special occasion, celebrating a wonderful friend and some great news she received.
What better place for a celebratory dinner.
We decided to toast with a couple martinis, they were fabulous. For someone like myself who doesn't drink, I sure had no problems finishing the salted Carmel martini.
They also bring you some warm bread and soft butter.
Our menu choices for the evening:
Jumbo shrimp cocktail, very good, just needed more sauce
Salad (don't waste the money, save for dessert)
Penne San Remo ( delicious and enough for two meals)
Chicken dish with crab, shrimp and hollandaise sauce ( you didn't even need a knife to cut the chicken)
There is a banquet room in the back that would be so perfect for a party. Catering is available. Jake's has a great website so you can get more information.
Service is always perfect and you can make reservations. Great place for lunch, dinner or that special date night. Only place in Tehachapi for a delicious high quality meal. You might pay a little more but worth it.

Thank you to Lucy & Miguel who made our visit Amazing! We arrived about 45 minutes before closing and were greeted and served as if we were their number one customers. The mahi mahi was superb with an incredible sauce. We also had the calamari which was so chewy and tasty with a great dipping sauce. Lucy made our drinks perfect. To top it all off - Italian lemon cake with raspberry sauce dripping all over. It was lite and airy with the subtle sweetness. Thanks for a fabulous evening of dining and getting to know you both. We will be back for sure!

Good food, but not GREAT food. My wife and I both had the prime rib, and it was good, but spiced with something.. can't really say what it was. I prefer my beef unflavored. The vegetable was green beans with some onions. Again, spiced with.... something. Some pepper, and something else. I really don't like black pepper. The service was excellent. The bread was EXCELLENT.
Yes, I would certainly go again. I'll probably try a steak next time.
You WILL need reservations! It's a small place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy S.Tehachapi, CA60574Mar 1, 2024
The food here is ok. It's pricey but the have a good selection of higher end restaurant food. The interior is elegant but small. Service is always top notch.

Outstanding! I was amazed with the food, and the service. If you're ever in our town, Tehachapi, please stop by and enjoy the food and ambience. Cocktails are delicious. Music was soft. Great for dates.
