Q:
Does anyone know if Jack's offers catering for weddings? Also, would it cost money to rent the venue or is it free? Thanks in advance.
A:
What a coincidence! I've got a friend who's wondering the same thing. He's recently engaged and has always wondered if Jack's would cater his wedding. Fingers crossed he loves Jack's and would be soooooooo excited!

Someone told me that Jack's Drive-In had veggie burgers last season, and I'm asking everyone if that's true?!! "I'll be so psyched", I said to the kid, and "hey, that's vegetarian...not a meat burger with lot's of vegetable toppings on it,right🙄?"

The burgers are disgustingly greasy with onions.
And I LOVE that!
And the fries are nice and crisp.
Give me a "Two and a small french" and I'm happy.
But word of advice, never, ever, as a coworker once did, try to eat 6 and a large french in one sitting. You will live to regret it.
But if you like sliders, this is THE place.
Even on opening day, in the freezing cold the line was 20 people deep.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Luc M.Marietta, GA011Oct 6, 2015
I love this place. Every time I'm up in Hoosick I go here if they're open.
Been since I was a kid. Use to not be a big fan of onions, but now I always get them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 71952Nov 24, 2014
I grew up in Wynantskill. At that time they were really good and you could smell the burgers and the onions on the school bus coming a mile away from there. These aren't the same burgers. Last time i went there this year, the hamburger wasn't like the hamburgers of the past and they were overpriced too! That being said, I am thoroughly impressed by the Deeb business story though. If you know their story, you cannot help being in awe of their work ethic and what it takes to be in this business.Maybe I'll try a TEDS fish fry :).

I adore this place for what it is - cheap and awesome drive-in food.
My usual - burger with everything, cheese fries, and a side of their onions for the cheese fries. Plus ketchup on the side please.
Their caramelized onion mix is amazing and really what makes this 5 stars for me. Without that onion mix, I probably would rate Jack's a 3.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Cindy H.New York, NY20291Jul 27, 2016
Grew up eating here on occasion. It's an institution. Everything tastes the same so that's good for what it is. But the guys taking orders on this particular night were rude to my 75 year old mom because she asked them to cut her burger in half. Watch it guys - you ain't that good.

OK, I've been told that I must experience Jack's sliders so I was bored and in the area and decided to take the drive out on 66 and go get one of these "famous" sliders.
Firstly, I was always under the impression that a slider was supposed to be smaller such as a White Castle slider which every burger eating person should know White Castle and Bill Ingram created the slider...so enough of the history lesson, let's get to the review.
I ordered 3 with cheese and some fries and a drink...$9.99, what the heck I payed for it, right?
I was handed three smushed down Freihofer's burger buns (seriously they were smushed down and looked as appetizing as the discarded bin burgers they toss out at McDonald's.
So in 75 years someone figured the best thing to wrap that slab of grease around was a simple day old store bought roll? Congratulations on the mediocrity...
The fries they served to me smothered in ketchup, not that I asked for it but I guess the over eager burger slingers assumed everyone likes their store bought fries drowning in a pool of ketchup.
The onions on the burger were really just greasy, slimy strings of onion and not really caramelized, just really greasy stringy slimy things to help disguise exactly how cheap these thrown together ingredients really are.
I have had burgers across the country and a burger the size of a McDonald's patty is NOT a slider. White Castle, Krystal, etc...those are sliders, not just a term you think it should be because it will slide down because of all the unsettling oil and grease these things are saturated in.
Terrible experience after all the hype from people that apparently have no idea what quality ingredients will produce.
BTW, never assume everyone wants to eat their food one way and then carelessly toss your product together and hand it over as if it is somehow an inconvenience. There are other places worth driving to with better prices, service, and food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Pete W.Troy, NY36Jul 14, 2007
Great little sliders with lots of grease. I can smell the onions into Troy. My wife and I stop here during the summer and get a whole plate of greasy sliders, greasy fries, and some soft drinks and have a feast out on one of the picnic tables. All that grease goes down hard.
Where are my Rolaids????Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Msdsfdsfg S.Troy, NY213May 19, 2017
First time I've eaten here in a decade and I won't be back. I called my order in ahead of time because I was at work and have limited break time. The man who took my order was unnecessarily rude to me, saying something like "We only do phone orders if it's over 20 dollars." I told him I'm calling in my order for my convenience not his. When I arrived my order came to 22 dollars, so this employee gave me flak basically to be an ass. I've also heard anecdotal stories from other people about how rude they are. They also, although this didn't surprise me, got my order wrong. I asked for no onions and got burgers so covered in onions and soggy they were unedible

If I'm going to be brutally honest, the star rating is based mostly on the warm fuzzy memories from my childhood! Yup - Jack's has been around THAT long!
My family would go there a half dozen or so times every summer and it was always a treat! Here's a hint of how long ago that was... no cheese! In fact, I don't remember the exact year, but when Jack's started offering cheese, it made the *front page* of the daily local paper! Sadly now, the burgers are just okay. They're still delightfully greasy and onion-y, but WAY over-priced and seem to have gotten a great deal smaller.
Still and all, go - at least once a year. Get the burgers (no cheese!!!) and drink Dzembo's chocolate milk with them. It's an experience you have to share with your kids. And bring your Rolaids!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - John S.Troy, NY08Mar 21, 2019
Like another reviewer said, the memories of this place are usually better then the food. The service is pretty quick, but the staff can be surly sometimes (I had one guy swear to me they didn't sell cheeseburgers). If you've got a nice day, give it a shot, but don't expect too much.
