Iron Hill is my favorite bar restaurant in the Philly area by a good margin.
Their buffalo wings are the best - each one big and full of flavor.
They have a nice beer selection - I personally love the Amber red ale the best.
Their King of the Hill loyalty program is sweet - bigger beer served in a mug, plenty of free beer tastings, and points towards $ off.
The rest of their apps are pretty nice too. I'm usually too full from the apps and beer to have a main courseHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 12, 2023
This review gets a 5 for the company and a 3 for the service and food.
If you read my reviews, I rarely give anything less than a 4 .However, when most of your food comes out cold for almost everything ordered that is supposed to be hot, that is a problem.
Starters: fried zucchini that actually was served hot, and our server even brought some red sauce.
Also, chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce that was delicious and again not hot
We came at 5 pm so the restaurant was not at all busy until we ordered our entrees. I think our server became flustered when she asked us 4 times if our food came out.
Entree: lettuce wraps that were actually wonderfully flavored chicken just not served hot.
Dessert: an upside down hot apple pie dessert that was
Again, MEH.AND...served cold. It took a lot of time to come to us, so it probably was warming down instead of being served in appropriate time.
The place itself had a cool atmosphere, and most of the servers seemed better skilled .
Return: Not likely.
Note: we did not send back any food or tell our server every thing was served cool or lukewarm ( except the icecream which was cold )as we wanted to see how this meal would play out .Helpful 13Thanks 2Love this 9Oh no 3 - Jul 14, 2023
I fell in love on a lunch date... with the food of course. Me and this crispy pork belly sandwich go together, real bad.
Never trust a book by its cover-- both your dates and the food I was concerned at first because I didn't see any evidence of sauce. But babyyyyy-- it's there. That pork was juicy with a perfect fried crunch and Gouda & onion strings really topped it off.
Survey says-- Iron Hill will be seeing me again (And my date, too!)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Julie P.Oreland, PA04415Mar 24, 2024
Well.....this Iron Hill location was a regular go-to with friends over the past 8 years or so. A certain pattern has emerged over the past six months or so that is a huge reality check. There seems to be a ton of staff but wait time between ordering/drink requests is long without clear explanation. (Tons of empty tables should be a sign also.) The past two visits have seen wait staff that are clearly put out by things like requests for ice water or a clean plate. (Several occasions have required requests for clean plates/utensils.) Had these past few visits been during crowded times or clear periods of down staffing we would understand but that's just not the case. The staff have gotten.....snippy. The menu is still great and there are some wonderful new additions. But now the food comes out Luke warm. It's a great location but this regular sees it's clearly slipping. Bummer.

I think I have over indulging in these.
I moved out of Philly almost a decade ago but I visit Chestnut hill every now and then. Recently I was craving cheesesteak egg rolls.. And looking around I saw they had them here.
A bit pricey but they are really good.
I like the crust and the filling is adequate. I prefer the horseradish condiment.
Very tasty.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Apr 3, 2012Previous reviewGood large place for the local crowd to visit. I didn't even know this place opened until 2weeks ago when I was just strolling by. It's spacious inside which is good. I made reservations because it looked crowded when I had strolled by.
I was seated promptly. The weather was nice outside so they opened up the large front doors/gate..so this is going to be a good thing for the summer.
The food was also delish. I had an item on the specials menu so it's not offered daily , it was a seafood dish. The drinks were okay. I can't recall what I had, but the only complaint I had about it was that my glass wasn't filled all the way up.
Not complaints about the service. Would def come back. - Alison L.Philadelphia, PA03Feb 19, 2024
I've been going here since I was a kid. I really loved it, and still do to an extent. I really enjoy their fries, and pretty much always get the mac and cheese, even now, but the place has a nice ambiance and I've found some other food items I enjoy. Overall a solid place to eat at.

My oldest daughter picked this as our lunch spot, she said it was a new addition to the downtown Philly scene.
The in-house brewery section/area was super cool. The menu looked impressive enough. The place is pretty huge in the inside, it was crowded but not overly packed as there were ample open tables & high-tops.
As far as service goes, it took a few minutes for our waitress to arrive to take our orders and when she arrived and before we started to shout out our selections, she stated she needed to tell us everything that they DID NOT have available as their truck did not arrive due to the observed holiday. It was a list of approximately 6 items and at least 2 of our options were on her short list, bummer. It took an even longer between appetizer arrival and main course arrival to the table, we were just about to inquire when she appeared with our orders.
The calamari was my appetizer, it was tasty but not hot enough, it may have been waiting to be brought out. I had the salmon Caesar salad, and it was just okay. Salmon was cooked to perfection but had ZERO seasoning. I failed to ask about cheese type when ordering the salad as I prefer grated cheese in my salads as oppose to the powdered cheese crumbles.
No one else complained about their dishes but they also weren't raving either. I feel like my experience could have been better so I'm willing to come back and try them another time.
They definitely had tons of beers that they brew so maybe when I come back I'll try that experience.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 5, 2022
Iron Hill Brewery is one of my favorite haunts. I the Chestnut Hill and Ardmore locations. This was a visit to the cobblestoned street of Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill.
Iron Hill Brewery is a great place to consume wonderful cocktails, fresh & delightful food and njoy your friends and/or family. Do yourself a favor and head on over there, then walk off your selections in and out the lovely shops that line the street.
Lemon Drop Martini, Rum Punch and a cold beer (not pictured) to start the day off with a Cheers!
Brewski Burger that is dressed with bacon, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce tomato, your choice of cheese between a potato roll and Fries
The highly sought after and expensive Wing... Buffalo style accompanied by a wet nap an excellent detail.
A new addition to the menu, Mushroom & Brie Egg Rolls w/garlic herb dipping sauce. Delish
Garcia Pizza with a cauliflower crust. (roasted mushrooms, garlic oil, caramelized onions, mozzarella, pecorino romano)
Southwestern Grilled Chicken Salad w/romaine, iceberg, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, corn, black beans, Serrano peppers, grilled peppers, queso fresco, crispy tortilla strips and Chipotle ranch dressing. Amazing!
For Dessert...
Brownie a la mode
Stawberry Lemon Drop

While attending a Phillies game and savoring the vibrant atmosphere at the bar, my experience took an unfortunate turn when I was abruptly approached by a woman who introduced herself as an assistant manager. She rudely interrupted my enjoyment, pressing me for a last call order, citing her busy liquor inventory duties. In response, I politely requested one more drink, explaining that I was engrossed in the game.
To my dismay, she promptly placed my last drink order on the counter, even though I still had a full glass in front of me. Feeling slightly taken aback by this behavior, I decided to bring the matter to the bartender, John's attention. However, the situation escalated when an off-duty employee, who appeared visibly intoxicated and confrontational, intervened and asked me to leave.
Given the unpleasant experience with the inebriated off-duty employee and the earlier rudeness of the assistant manager, I had already made up my mind to conclude my visit independently. Consequently, I wouldn't consider returning to this establishment and, based on my experience, would not recommend it to others either.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 11, 2023Previous reviewAlthough the culinary experience fell short with lackluster and flavorless dishes, the impeccable service offered by Delaney elevated the overall dining experience to new heights.
