We are in the process of selling my 92 year old moms home. Inspection found mold in the attic. This was due to the roofers not reattching the vent pipes correctly.
What a mess in the attic. Broken pipes, downed pipes all leading to mold!
So, apparently this is in the fine print of the contract. Older people can easily miss this and there is no final checklist given to them.
Recommend Cooper Mountain roofers. They do it right.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Tony H.Portland, OR0124Apr 28, 2023
I called Interstate Roofing to ask about the warrantee on the shingles they applied to my roof 20 years ago. To my surprise, Shelley, one the owners, called me back and explained it to me and offered to complete the paperwork to make a claim.
A few days later, Lance came out to inspect the shingles and other aspects the roof of my 1951 Ranch style home. He said that the shingles were indeed at the end of their life since the granules and asphalt were completely worn away on a good percentage of them. He recommended a full tear-off of the 2 layers of shingles, and adding new plywood decking and low intake vents.
I met with a couple other roofers who were strong candidates, but I ended up going with Interstate Roofing for a few reasons; two of my neighbors and I have all had good experiences with them, they are a family owned business, and they gave me a competitive estimate.
My new roof looks beautiful and is much sturdier with the new plywood decking and more efficient with the new low intake vents. I really couldn't be happier. I also have to say that I was extremely impressed with everyone involved in making this happen.
To get the project started sooner, I drove my deposit check to their office where I was greeted by Olivia who is friendly and helpful. I also met Jordan who explained the details; when and where the product would be delivered, where the drop box would be placed, how they would remove the old roofing material to protect my yard, where the portable toilet would go etc. There are a lot of details and even though she followed-up up in writing, I still had a few remaining questions. Although I felt like I was inundating her, she remained unusually gracious and never once gave me the slightest hint that I was asking too much.
Hector, and every one of his crew were prompt, professional and efficient. They did an outstanding job of planning the work in phases around the April rain showers that week to keep the project moving forward safely. They are skilled, thorough and detailed.
But there was one person who absolutely astounded me; Joe, the Superintendent.
As with any project, there is always a hiccup or two. Unfortunately, the last 2 companies I hired for other projects turned into absolute nightmares. But this time was completely different largely due to Joe.
He was extremely responsive to all of my questions and concerns, and was always willing to continue discussing an issue until I was completely satisfied. He is easy-going and personal and makes you feel like you are his only client.
I've done a lot of work on my former house and cabin, so I know a few things first-hand. Joe definitely knows his trade and he instills a great sense of confidence and trust which are rare these days.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 5, 2024

I had another roofing company come out and they let me know that Interstate roofing damaged my roof by putting up a tarp since they used nails in the roof when they added the tarp.
This company charged me for labor that they did not do, they did this by attempting to charge an hour of labor extra. I was charged an extra $300 plus on my card without prior knowledge of it. Unfortunately for them I have a ring camera and verified time stamps. They were here an hour and 10
minutes. Additionally, the representative on the phone during first contact gave a quote $50 for the tarp and the sales person I spoke to after I submit a complaint later told me these were not "$30 tarps" meaning they definitely can't be $50. The customer service representative was rude and had poor skills in handling my issue.
Cannot recommend.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rudy A.OR, OR02Feb 5, 2024
Absolute WORST service. Do not give them any credit card information. Do not pay them until the work is done. If you work with AMY, OLIVIA or HEATHER good luck. Chaba is nice but that's about it. I was quoted 325 for a tarp but charged 665 instead. They lie about how long their technicians are at your house for. Luckily I have cameras. They are not able to provide an actual receipt. They communication is almost nonexistent. Please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
I just had another roofer assess the damage and interstate roofing caused MORE damage their technicians put holes every six inches apart into my roof.
Interstate roofing is untruthful and fraudulent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Makena H.Portland, OR4907856Jul 9, 2023
We recently had our 1950s ranch style home completely reroofed by Interstate and couldn't have had a better experience. From day one, when Lance came to take a look at our roof and put together a quote, he was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. He was honest with us about what to expect and what the job would entail. He was available for several phone calls with questions and never made us feel pressured into anything. When the reroof project began, we got in touch with Jorge who was the project supervisor for our job. Jorge and the crew that came to do the reroof were absolutely phenomenal. They were all so incredibly respectful, gracious, and professional. I work from home and had absolutely no issues with any of the crew members and felt totally comfortable sharing our space with them. They worked SO hard (on the hottest day of the year!) for two days until our roof was complete, going above any beyond by replacing our chimney flashing and a skylight for no extra charge. Jorge came by for a final walkthrough on the third day where he gave us feedback on their job as well as some super helpful tips, and even made himself available to us after the job was complete for questions. Genuinely a wonderful experience and I am SO happy that we trusted Interstate with our reroof job. All around great folks that work hard and take a lot of pride in what they do (and the quality of their work proves this). Out of the ~8 other companies that we inquired with and got quotes from, we couldn't be happier with our decision to trust Interstate with this big project.

I was super impressed by the customer service I just received. In the last year or so, I purchased a home with a roof that Interstate Roofing installed and paid to have the warranty transferred. They were great in extending the window of time for the warranty transfer after a miscommunication with a previous employee who didn't mention there was a cutoff window to extend it.
Recently a couple of estimates I received for gutter replacement included a line item for drip edge flashing. Concerned I did not have the appropriate flashing installed, I called Interstate and within an hour or two received a call from Antionio. He drove over on short notice and got on the roof, removing gutter guards in several places to check for the drip edge flashing. It was installed in all locations checked, and now I know I don't need to pay for it in addition to the gutter replacement. Thank you for the quick work and great service!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emma G.Portland, OR124Mar 24, 2022
We hired Interstate to fix a leak in our roof. Excellent experience. They got back to me promptly with a date when they could come out, updated me by text on the morning of the appointment, showed up on time, quickly found the leak, repaired it and cleaned up. They even gave us pix of the damage and the repair.
Everyone we dealt with, from the office to the roof guys, was professional, clear, responsive and service oriented. Overall, an excellent experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David R.Vancouver, WA943Sep 18, 2021
Waste of time.
Salesman was nice, explained the basics, took a look at the roof, and left. Was professional the whole time. That was about the extent of their service.
He told me I would get a quote the next day when he went into the office. He said he was busy that week, so when I didn't get a quote the next day I waited a full week. No quote.
I emailed him asking for a follow-up, no reply three weeks later.
Skip over this company and save yourself some time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Wayne K.Portland, OR1495Sep 12, 2022Updated review
I wrote a semi-critical review 10 days ago, and since then Mike, whom I gather is Interstate Roofing's main quality control and fix-it guy, took care of two of the issues that were left hanging. He installed two skylights that were not finished by the first work crews and he custom-shaped and installed the necessary counterflashing around our chimney, which the first work crews also couldn't do. With any luck, we now hope we won't have a leaky roof for many years to come. I had also been upset that the first work crew had put a new roof over our porch up to the upper wall, as was agreed upon; but had not put in new flashing and had left a gap of inches between the roof and the wall that would have let rain freely pour under the new shingles. Subsequently my son and I have installed flashing ourselves and overlapped this with new wall shingles to properly (we hope) join and cover that flashing. Lastly, here's a new issue that I found when I walked around the house after the work was "finished": our window air conditioner was in great shape, nearly new. In throwing down the old roofing material at the start of the project, they dented the ac's case and bent many of its heat dissipating fins. Not good.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 2, 2022Previous reviewWell, they are quite polite, and cheerful. That's good. But I think they fall short when it comes to problem solving and thoroughness. If I can successfully post a couple of photos, you'll see that despite their "okay, your roof is finished", they left two major areas worse than when they started. And this seems to be just how it's going to be. When they ripped off the old shingles that had run up under the shake siding on the wall above the front porch, that left a gap under which rain will definitely run, in volumes. And they were unable to put "counter-flashing" around the base of the chimney, to overlap the new roof shingles, as their workers told us is always done. At the least, their estimator/salesperson and/or the actual job supervisor should have discussed this with us and factored this in as a typical/normal/usual part of a roofing job. I spent a sleepless night last night worrying about these problems. We have to get them solved -- by hiring a more skilled company -- before it rains. And did I mention that some of the "hip shingles" (?) along the peaks of a couple of roof lines don't match the color of the rest of the roof? Close. But different. But we have trees around the house and nearby, so you can hardly see the difference. So, that's good.

Several years ago, I had a great experience when Interstate Roofing re-roofed my house. Based on that experience, and because the roof is still under warranty, I hired them to replace flashing that had been removed when I recently had my patio cover replaced. Unfortunately, they do not guarantee repairs. I was charged $366 for them to install a small length of flashing, which took less than an hour and did not eliminate the leak. I refuse to throw good money after bad and have advised them that I will never do business with them again.
