Vancouver has gotten rainy and cold, so the best time for some ramen!! Hokkaido is a cute little spot right by Broadway city hall station. The space is a good size but wouldn't recommend for a big group (more than 6 people).
They only have one vegetarian option, all other ramens on their menu are pork based. They don't have any chicken options either.
We had their cream soda for drinks and OMG it was so good!! It came with vanilla ice cream, absolutely delicious!
As of their ramen, I had their Tsuke-Men which was cold ramen noodle served with not dipping sauce. I got the spicy version and it was delicious!
The vegetarian ramen was made using soy milk as a base, the flavour of the soup is strengthened with vegetables and white miso. Super creamy and delicious!
We went their on halloween so all the staff were dressed like Wednesday from Adam's family. It was very cute! They were so friendly and sweet :)Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2023
Exploring Vancouver for a day with my nephews, Yelp led us to this ramen shop. With a good rating and a busy crowd inside, it seemed like a worthy dinner place. And it was.
The menu is robust with four types of main ramen for every taste preference, including a vegetarian option. The shio ramen with extra butter, corn, and green onions was flavorful.
Their margarita was more sour than sweet and refreshing. My nephews loved the sodas with Coca-Cola and ice cream.
Service was a little slow, but friendly.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2024Updated review1 check-in
I still love the shio ramen here! Service is very quick and attentive. This bowl of ramen is perfect on a rainy day.

Feb 24, 2022Previous reviewRemains one of my favorite spots for ramen in Vancouver! The broth is always on point and rich and delicious. The noodles have a good bounce to them as well. Come early as there is usually a line at dinner time!

Great ramen joint for a casual and filling meal! My coworkers and I came during happy hour and took advantage of the combo, which came with: 1 bowl of ramen, 1 mini side, and 1 egg. I got the Shoyu ramen, which had some delicious chashu, but the broth wasn't my favorite. Would be open to trying a different flavored broth for next time. Overall, service was friendly and fast and atmosphere cozy.

The service was incredibly fast and the staff was very nice. The edamame was much saltier than expected (not pictured). The ramen portion for the medium is very filling. The ramen is very hot when it is brought out so the sides will warm up fairly quickly.

I can almost hear the slurping sounds echoing in my head as I reminisce about my recent visit to Santouka Ramen on Broadway. The Japanese art of ramen making is something that I have always been fascinated by, and this little gem of a restaurant truly captured the essence of it.
The atmosphere was humble, yet inviting. The staff greeted me with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to serve. The menu was concise, but the options were alluring, and I could tell that the ingredients were of the highest quality.
As I sipped on the Tonkotsu broth, I was immediately transported to the streets of Hokkaido, where Santouka Ramen originates from. The broth was rich and creamy, yet not overwhelming. The noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of bite.
I couldn't resist trying the char siu pork as well, and I was not disappointed. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a subtle smoky flavor that complemented the ramen beautifully.
What really stood out to me was the attention to detail in every aspect of the ramen-making process. From the preparation of the broth to the plating of the dish, it was clear that the chefs took great pride in their craft.
In a city that is renowned for its diverse food scene, Santouka Ramen is a standout destination for anyone looking to experience authentic Japanese ramen. It's not just a meal, it's an experience that will leave you feeling nourished and satisfied.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2023
Met up with a friend after work on a Wednesday at this ramen place. To our surprise, there was no line up like it usually does during the weekend. This hot soup noodle on a cold evening just hit the right spot. The combo with rice is also a great option since I haven't eaten all day so it was a filling option for me. We both got the regular size. The ramen and rice were standard quality.
Credit card and split payment option available. Service was also quick, the server was very polite and the store was fairly spacious, decently lit without being too loud. Highly recommend!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Pooja R.San Francisco, CA0524Jan 22, 2024

3.5 stars.
Second time visiting Santouka in Vancouver. There are better places in Houston and NY, but it's worth a stop.
SHIO RAMEN CA $18.70?- our favorite broth, which was flavorful. I would get this next time but with thick noodles. Added an ajitama for CA $2.25? (soft boiled egg); it should be included since ramen is not cheap. Bf upgraded to a large for ~$1, which I think is worth it, since the small is very small.
Kara-miso tsukemen (dipping) ramen - this comes with the thick noodles, which we preferred. The broth was good but not better than the shio ramen. Not too spicy either. My egg came out completely cooked (not sure if it's supposed to be or not), but it worked out since I'm preggo.
Miso ramen - my mom got this. It was good, but her small bowl was so small for the price! She was still hungry.
Dumplings - good but typical.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
