Mark is an exceptional instructor, and an all around wonderful human being.

I had been playing guitar without any real structure for almost 15 years before I decided to buckle down and actually learn the correct way. I was initially pretty nervous about the whole endeavor.. I didn't want the way that someone taught me to negatively affect my creative process or ideas, but it was immediately clear after a few lessons that Mark was not that kind of instructor. He goes well out of his way to clearly explain things to you in the level of detail that you are looking for going as deep or shallow as you feel comfortable or are willing to. It's clear that he is an oasis of knowledge, from theory to application, has years of experience in many forms of music, and genuinely wants to constructively share that with others.

Within these last two years I went from being able to play almost nothing but bad renditions of Metallica and Megadeth songs to understanding chord structure, key structure, improvisation in many different styles, structured practice routines that are engaging and fun, and ultimately completely shaping my own musical voice. I honestly can't thank Mark enough for everything that he has done for me up to this point, and I am extremely excited to see where the rest of the journey takes me. If you are in Southern California and looking for a music instructor at any level, for any style of music, I can not recommend Hamrock Music enough. Take the dive, you wont regret it.

Mark really knows what he's doing. Very sociable guy and can navigate many scenarios with music. I've known some music theory all my life but haven't really been able to put it into practice. Mark basically focuses on what is important, refocuses the student as he knows what helped him learn and will probably help the student.

One nice thing about taking lessons from Mark is his technical know how. He not only knows the instrument really well but is adept with recording and utilizing software/tools/pedals.

Mark really cares about your improvement along with discussing the music you are interested in to make it fun. He is a good guy and I highly recommend him.

Mark is terrific and so versatile. I have played bass off and on for ... yikes 36 years...started lessons with the bass and plenty to offer me. Then we switched to guitar and also we started talking about song writing. We went through all the chords of a scale, the modes, triads, etc. Then and he started showing me all these tricks of choosing chords out side of the key to emphasis song content with examples by artists. He's very patient but gives you the feedback you need with out being aggressive, dismissive or anything unwanted. I really love going to the lessons.

I have been playing guitar for more than 20 years, however, I was never able to understand the logic of scales and improvise. After a few lessons with Mark I was able to not only figure out this entire new frontier of my instrument but also have a sample of my improvisation featured by VOX Amp's social media team, which is something I would never expect to be able to do so fast after taking lessons with Mark. Right now, I'm taking lessons with him for almost two years with no plans to quit anytime soon!

I started lessons with Mark back in 2015 when I lived in California. He is a consummate professional who is an incredibly gifted musician. And he is just as talented in teaching. Mark is one of the most patient individuals I have ever met. He's extremely easy to work with and he makes learning to play an instrument so much fun! After I relocated to TX, I thought I had to hang up my guitar or find another music teacher. There was no teacher who taught like Mark, so I called him and tried out his virtual classes and have been back learning with Mark online and it's been a awesome! Mark Hamrock is hands down THE BEST guitar instructor and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else for instruction. Don't think twice, give Mark a call, you will be so happy you did!

Mark is an absolute fantastic music instructor who teaches you the fundamentals and building blocks of music as opposed to solely having you mimic him playing guitar. When I started my guitar lessons I could not play a lick of music, however in just a few lessons I could play the Open Basic Chords, Riffs, etc. and I began to feel comfortable and confident learning more and more.

Mark has a warm and wonderful personality which translates to a stress free learning experience. Mark does expect his students to practice between lessons which should be inherent if you are truly interested broadening your playing abilities. I couldn't think of a better or more gifted guitar teacher than Mark.
