Green Onion Mexican Restaurant

Visited for the first time yesterday. Food is fresh, but not traditional homestyle Mexican, but more "Southwest/Tex-Mex" where everything has either Monterrey Jack or Cheddar cheese or a mix of both, and flour tortillas are the norm.

I decided to try their tacos & ordered one of each... ground beef, chicken and carnitas. The carnitas soft taco came out the clear winner because the meat was quite flavorful -- and they were REAL carnitas -- deliciously tender fried pork (not dried out roast pork). The other two were pretty tastelesz, and soggy rather than crispy, with more cheese and lettuce than meat. My beverage was a Margarita on the Rocks -- thumbs up.

Service was okay; servers are super busy ad it's a pretty busy place; a go-to for lots of locals.

If Tex-Mex is what you enjoy, then this may be a good place for you.

Excellent Mexican food right on San Pedro Harbor. Must try the Green Onions Tacos!! Very friendly service.

Great food, fast service, and good margaritas. Went to Green Onion in San Pedro last night and had really good food.

What I like about this place outside of the delicious food is the prices are reasonable. You can get an entire dinner for 2 and drinks for under 60.00

I had the sizzling fajitas and my husband had a combo meal. He of course had a double margarita, I could only manage a single.

Don't sleep on this place, go and experience it for yourself

Food is very basic nuthing special
They put way too much cheese on all there food
No sause just a bunch of cheese
Then the cheese gets dry and very chewy

Oh my gosh... We were hungry for Mexican food and a long way from home.

We googled Mexican restaurants and found this truly amazing place.
This establishment is almost on the water with some views of the water.

But the best two items of focus was yet to come, the food and the price. Immediately upon sitting, our server brought two individual bowls of truly great tasting salsa to go with the chips.

When we opened the extensive menu, we could not believe how low the prices were, considering it is so close to the water. We each ordered combination plates. Then the unexpected occurred, they had to put each combo on two separate plates to accommodate all the food.

The quantity wasn't the best part, it was the food TASTED INCREDIBLE!!!

Great chips and salsa, awesome fajitas, delicious chile rellenos that come already seeded! I actually live to get them dressed up like enchiladas. Highly recommend their tacos as well.

Waiters are usually on top of the service even though they get pretty busy. Bartender is friendly and attentive.

Great place for Mexican food & fun! Lively bar with TV. Lots of regulars and the prices are reasonable!

We live out of state and happened into the Green Onion four years ago. We were so impressed then, we decided to stop in again. Great decision.

Service was prompt and cheerful. The restaurant was very comfortable and well maintained.

After a few very nicely chilled beers, we ordered our food. It was all well prepared and exceptionally tasty. From the salsa to the perfectly prepared fajitas (extremely hot and sizzling), to the rice and beans.... Everything seemed extraordinarily well seasoned. It was a joyful experience for our tastebuds!

In addition, the servings were huge. The fajita platter was heaping. It was absolutely enough for two meals for us. And it even came with 6 tortillas!

Great experience. We will return again.

On April 21, 2024, at 12 p.m., I dined at the Green Onion in San Pedro, Ca, where I grew up. I had relatives visiting from out of town and took them there. We were disappointed with our server, who treated us some kind of way with respect to requesting more chips and salsa. It was clear we were being discriminated against because we clearly saw other guests being served with more chips and salsa. Not to mention how she embarrassed us in front of customers for asking for more. I thought ALL Mexican Restaurants gave you bottomless chips and salsa (i.e., El Torito Restaurants).

The food was delicious!! The staff offered very good customer service too. This is my new favorite spot, hands down. I had the chili verde chimichanga and very much enjoyed it. Wifey had the shredded beef wet burrito and she loved it! It was a really good value too. If you want some good Mexican food, go here.
