Kido class- if you are looking for a place to burn calorie, it's right for you. I enjoy going there every week. Just remember, it doesn't get any easier even you go there often. Which is what I am looking for.

We recommend you select a different place for your child to train. We no longer trust the brand, the teachers nor the franchise.
We have experienced instructors as dismissive, sarcastic and diminishing. They were kept on staff for years, even as enrollment dropped significantly.
We also feel manipulated out of $1,000. We were told we could cancel our contract when needed. We gave notice when, after many years of patronage, our child could no longer attend class. We asked over a dozen times of staff, instructors and the owner to cancel our payments and were ignored.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily W.San Francisco, CA24231Apr 8, 2012
My son started at Gold Medal gym about months ago and loves it. We tried to get him signed up a year ago, but he was nervous and said that he would start when he turned 4, so after his last birthday, he became a Mighty Monkee. At this age, the kids are too young to really learn forms and perfect their skills - i just wanted to find a place to help him get coordinated and see if he could have fun with martial arts. He definitely likes it and he loves practicing at home. The student teacher ratio is awesome at Burlingame and all the teachers are so patient with the rambuctious little boys, yet making them laugh and have fun.
As for the comment about the cleanliness, I found the center to be really clean and perfect for the little ones. The teachers seem to take good care of the equipment and use it with the little ones appropriately. And learning martial arts is definitely not teaching little ones aggression or violent behavior. In this day and age, our kids are exposed to violence everywhere. By learning control and self discipline, as well as learning how to protect themselves, hopefully we can teach them how to respect others and themselves in our daily lives.
Highly recommended!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nhieu w.San Mateo, CA6469116Feb 27, 2016
Amazing staff! My 4 yr old and 6.5 yr old girls love their classes. They do lots of other activities and this is one of their favorites. Great program. Great makeup policy, plenty of classes, accomodating, kind, knowledgable and flexible staff. Overall great program!

So Happy I signed my boys up a couple years back. Gold Medal always has fun events. Jumpers food ...the Easter bunny and a ninja turtle today. Great way to get involved with the community while having fun with the kids.

We just started but so far we love it.The Mighty Monkee program is specialized for 3 to 4 year olds and is designed to teach children life skills in a fun and exciting manner. Using "FUN-damental" exercises, our program will teach basic physical skills; these skills will provide a solid foundation when they transition to our Kids Taekwondo program. Each class is 30 minutes long.
Teacher Stephen is great with the little one's. The class time is perfect for our 3 year old.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lana G.Burlingame, CA45212Jan 5, 2011
This has been terrific for my two girls (second and third graders), who are really loving classes here. It's a wonderful addition to the local Burlingame community and I love to see the balance between both boys and girls pursuing the sport at all levels and the flexibility that comes from a variety of class choices each week. Bravo!

I love this place - their adult fitness classes are awesome.
I regularly take KiDo and Cage and highly recommend both. Other classes I've taken are great too - Zumba, Strength, and Kickboxing.
Friendly but hard driving teachers, well managed, fairly priced, nice facilities. I couldn't ask for much more.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ro J.Burlingame, CA06Dec 19, 2015
This place is great with kids. They are super encouraging and patient. The children get a lot of opportunity to demonstrate their skills in front of the class. It is a great place to help build self esteem while learning a skill. And it is nice and clean!

My entire family are now a part of the Gold Medal family and we couldn't be more thrilled! My three children, my wife, and I are all participating in one or more different classes they offer. Whether it's Taekwondo for my kids and my wife, or Kido (cardiokickboxing on steroids), CAGE fitness (this workout ROCKS!), and Total Self-Defense (something everyone should know for their own safety) for me and my wife, this school really isn't "just another martial arts school" - it's so much more than that.
I have to admit there is also the cool factor about being taught by a gold medalist. If you really think about it, it's difficult to fathom what it takes anyone to be considered "the best in the world" at anything, but Herb Perez became that person after winning a gold medal in Barcelona in '92. The funny thing is he's a very nice person and is so willing to help anyone of any age.
Okay, I'm gushing at this point, but it's because we're all very pleased with being a part of something so positive.
Big thanks to Gold Medal and their wonderful staff. They just made Burlingame that much better!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
