Gelateria dei Coltelli

I experienced Gelateria dei Coltelli for the second time on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

This is my fave gelato spot in the U.S. I visited Italy a few months ago and Gelateria reminds me so much of Italy (nothing beats gelato in Italy, but Gelateria sure comes close.)

So what is Gelato? It is Italian ice cream. Gelato has more milk and less fat and calories than ice cream! This generally makes true gelato denser and creamier, with a more intense flavor.

Gelateria dei Coltelli prides itself on using only high-quality ingredients in their products; their gelato and sorbet are made fresh daily on the premises.

The service is professional. Some employees are more friendly than others.

There's a parking lot in the back of the building.

Felt like having some dessert after catching a movie and so glad I decided to come here. The place was very bright and very clean. While on line to place my order, I noticed how a group got up to leave their table and someone was at table within 30 seconds to clean and wipe it down for the next group to sit down. I ordered the banana Nutella crepe and it was delicious!! The young lady that took my order was very sweet and friendly. She even brought my crepe to my table ... such a nice gesture. Will I be returning? You better believe it!!

Soon as you walk in the workers respond hi guys how are you today. Great service, delicious top quality gelato for a great price. Also the interior of this place is beautiful even up to the bathroom. I go here all the time I love it. Would recommend anytime any day. They also have coffee and crepes but I always go for gelato.

What a great little spot for dessert, they've got ice cream and gelato, vegan ice cream, espresso cappuccinos crêpes and homemade ice cream sandwiches and I'm probably missing something but what a beautiful little spot to go after dinner for dessert highly recommend

A great gelato shop in Long Island! There aren't many in Long Island so this definitely takes top rank here. It's fairly spacious inside with plenty of seating but there's also outdoor seating as well! I came during the afternoon and there were several customers already here but the line wasn't very long and it moved fast. The selection is also huge with lots of flavors and even vegan options. There are also cookie sandwiches, popsicles, and cakes!

I'm very indecisive so I always have to try a few flavors before I end up deciding on my final choices. I could tell the staff wasn't as open to it, or maybe she was just tired from all the customers she's had to help that day, but it made me a little uncomfortable to sample.

I ended up going with pistachio (can never go wrong with pistachio gelato) and espresso chocolate chip. It was delicious, despite it melting fairly quick since it was so hot out. Since I got two flavors, they scooped one on the bottom and one on top but I actually prefer when it's placed side by side so that I can get both flavors when I want. It also came with some mini cones that were just the cutest.

They also have trays of 6 or 12, pints, or quarts of whatever flavors you choose. I saw someone ordering a quart and eating straight from it and honestly, it looked so satisfying - maybe I'll do that next time.

Had a small cup with Irish soda bread and pistachio for St. Patrick's day!!! Can't go wrong with pistachio gelato. The Irish soda bread was great. Pieces of the soda bread rolled into the gelato have a sweet and savory taste. Great tasting gelatos with a lot of seating at this gelateria.

Honestly, there's a reason there is always a line here (year round). It's worth it. It's the best gelato not just in LI, but in NY. The flavors rotate, but with the new location (down the block - literally) they have room for even more. It's very clean, everything is brand new, well lit and now has even more space, which allows for the line to move even faster. Everything from here is terrific. My favorites are cannoli, baccio, pistachio, and Nutella. But let me just express this again, I have never had a bad flavor or one I didn't want more of.

I also suggest the gelato sandwiches made with chocolate chip cookies. They're massive and honestly...so good.

And by finishing this review I just convinced myself to go drive over for some gelato before they close!

A local favorite with so many flavors to choose from. Classic stracciatella to Banana Nutella. I love the mint, pistachio and cherry flavors in particular. My kids always grab the strawberry or Oreo.

This new space is just one block from the old location. It's much longer and has a great outdoor patio. The outdoor patio is not covered but there is a slat roof. The benches are lined up in a row with pretty potted flowers just beyond for a nice garden look. There's music playing on the speakers, simple white colored decor; just a nice comfortable seating arrangement.

Inside, very neat and spaced out seating as well. The warmer weather will bring the crowds I'm sure as I was here on a cool Spring evening just half an hour before close. And still customers in and out. Open all year round with late hours, definitely a plus. It's a must try!

I love visiting this place and ordering from DoorDash. The gelatos are soooooooo good. Whenever I've ordered a pint they include mini cones, which are such a nice touch. They also make cakes which I have yet to try! You may have to wait on line! They are pretty popular. They also just moved to a new location down the block that has a lot more seating and space.
