Does anyone know why this diner closed? I loved going there when I was in Flagstaff! The staff was always very friendly and the waffles were to die for!
A:
Not sure why they closed but they have just reopened, writing this August 9, 2020.

While vacationing in Sedona, we took a day trip to see the Grand Canyon. On the way. we stopped at the Galaxy diner in Flagstaff for some food.
Our server was fantastic- he was very friendly. I had the breakfast burrito - YUM!!! One of my daughters had steak and eggs and her steak was as good as a high end steak house - seriously- and at a quarter of the price. My other daughter enjoyed her chocolate chip pancakes and my partner enjoyed his custom omelette.
We were very happy with chose the Galaxy diner.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 4, 2023
We're always on the lookout for a good old-school diner, and Galaxy Diner fits that bill perfectly. I'm not sure why we hadn't found this place during previous trips to Flagstaff, but we'll definitely be return customers. We actually ended up going twice in a row, both Saturday and Sunday, during a weekend trip. From omelets to biscuits and gravy to french toast, Galaxy Diner has all the standard specialties with none of the upcharges of downtown Flagstaff brunch hot-spots. Drip coffee is unlimited and they keep it coming. The friendly servers seem to be entirely NAU students, which is awesome since you know that your tips are either going to college tuition or beer money.
Both days, we were seated within 10 minutes of arrival despite it being the weekend, so that compares very favorably with the other brunch spots in town as well.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Arlene M.Sunnyvale, CA19311Nov 19, 2023
It is a diner, and I should not have expected to be wowed.
But I was, by the service. Our server, who was also waiting on a section full of tables, was upbeat, efficient, and friendly.
By the food, however, not so much. The steak and eggs were okay. The waffles could have been better. But the french toast complete breakfast was a miss-- french toast was not flavorful, soft scramble egg was tough, and $5 for 2 measly strips of thin bacon??? Common, guys!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 26, 2023
Good not great. The decor is really cute! Reminded me of a 5 & Diner! It was open early which was perfect for our early bird family It's a great stop if you have kiddos! The service was nice! No complaints. Chill and easy. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the coffee was so bad. I wasn't expecting anything fancy, I've had my fair share of diner coffee, but this was the worst ever. Very watery, not enough coffee grounds were used. The food however was yummy! I got Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast and it lived up to its name! Decadent, sweet, dreamy! My daughter got the Bobby Sock Bear which the name alone made her giggle! It was perfect for her! I wouldn't make it a point to come back here but I also wouldn't be against eating here again if it happened.

Very friendly nostalgic place with so many pictures to keep you occupied while you wait. Ambiance casual. The food was tasty and hot and requested complements brought in timely manner. Reasonable prices.
The booth seats need updated, a bit uncomfortable for me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Oct 18, 2020Previous reviewWhat a great find. Classy little place with cool memorabilia. Friendly servers with 100% masks on face. Large selection and breakfast 24 hours. Portions good. No oatmeal today. Did not try the coffee today.

The rest of my part arrived before I did and was already eating. When I arrived I attempted to join them at their table. The waitress stopped me and said I wasn't allowed to enter because I had a service dog with me. They only allowed service dogs to sit at the table next to the door. They made the rest of my party get up and move. It is illegal to make people with service dogs sit at specific tables. That is discrimination. The owners should be ashamed of themselves and should be aware that a formal ADA complaint can lead to fines. The food wasn't even that good, so we won't be bothering to come back. My cinnamon roll had clearly been microwaved to reheat it.

Glad we stopped in here on our visit to Flagstaff. Very cute vintage diner and really good breakfast for dinner. I had the breakfast burrito with the ? spuds ( sliced fried potatoes and onions) and my daughter ordered the chicken and waffles. Both were good. Food prices have been high every place we've eaten on this trip, so this was about what was expected. There was a musician setting up to play while we were eating and unfortunately we had to leave just as he was into his first song because he was really good and I was enjoying it, but didn't want to hold up a table from being seated. Server was also friendly and helpful.

The service was very slow. The fresh fruit was very old. It also didn't have any ambiance. You can find better.

Two of had dinner at the Galaxy. Over all we were not impressed. First of all anyplace calling itself a diner should excell with diner food. The beef vegetable soup was good although it could do with the vegetables cut a bit smaller. The meatloaf was disappointing. A diner meatloaf should be thick, juicy and flavorful. This was none. Thin slices heated by grilling that were dry and lacking in flavor dabbed with a gelatinous gravy.
What is with Arizona serving chunks of corn on the cob? It's impossible to eat neatly. Galaxy's corn was very starchy, ideal for cream style corn, not so much for corn on cob. One bite was all I could manage.
Overall a disappointing meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
