Receptionist is curt and rude. Dr is not available to consult unless you pay him. I went in for a lose tooth and consultation and landed up spending over $1000 having laser surgery on gums. I've had two cleanings and after the cleaning was not pleased that neither visit resulted in Dr coming in for consult or greeting to see how I was doing. I Was told Dr wasn't in office but I could set up appt and pay $99 for a consult!!!! W T F..... Really feel like I've been wasting my money The sad thing is The tooth I originally had problems with is still giving me issues. After spending way over $1000 and the laser gum surgery costs, I would need to pay an additional consultation fee is ludicrous!!!!

This is a minus 5 star review!

I went here at the end of December for an initial visit and hopefully to get a tooth extracted and prep for an implant because I was in pain. At the end of the visit he told me he couldn't extract the tooth (which I was super confused because the same place pulled my husbands tooth and prepped for an implant). He reffered me to go elsewhere. I called the place they referred me to the following day and they said they don't accept our insurance so I called Center for Dental excellence back to see what I could do. They said I could find a place that was in my network. I wanted somewhere I could be seen for everything and get all my work done in one office. I found a place I could do this at and they said they could give me a free second opinion if I had a copy of my dental plan from the first dentist I went to. I called Center for Dental excellence to see if they could email me a copy of my treatment plan and she asked why. I told her that I wanted to get a second opinion on the work they requested me to get done, she told me that was against their office policies and hung up the phone. That is VERY ILLEGAL as I have a right to anything in my medical records. I had to wait a couple days to go into the office and lie to them just to get a copy to bring it to my new dentist. I am so glad I did because I got my second opinion and they said their treatment for me was very aggressive and they didn't
see any of what they said I needed.
I DO NOT RECCOMEND CENTER FOR DENTAL EXCELLENCE.

Honestly appalled! Had an appointment for a filling scheduled and they cancelled on me that morning due to the Dr being "extremely ill".... rescheduled for later the same week. Each time they called me to confirm, they had changed the time on me and made ME feel like I was crazy for getting the times wrong. First noon, then 12:30, then 12:40... what if those times didn't work for me? They changed my appointment without consulting the patient? Then suddenly I needed approval for getting fillings during pregnancy. They had over a month to tell me to get the approval (because I had notified them well beforehand that I was pregnant) and decided to tell me an hour before my appointment. When I asked how the Dr was feeling after being "extremely ill" the receptionist was confused and told me he had been sick the week before? Then had the audacity to ask if I called the correct office. Instead of taking responsibility for being unorganised, cancelling my appointment when the Dr was evidently not even sick, then changing my appointment times repeatedly without warning, I was disgusted and decided to not be serviced by them. How unprofessional! Because of this, it has ruined my timeline for my orthodontist retainers and I didn't get my fillings cared for. I'm deeply disappointment by this office.

My husband waited 1 1/2 mos for a partial. The whole process was pathetic. 3 times they made impressions and digital scans. It still came in wrong. Wrong number of teeth, wrong color etc. No one even called to tell him to come back for another impression. They just waited two weeks until he went in expecting his partial to be done. Very unprofessional to say the least. The very least they should have done was to offer him a temporary because it was his front teeth! They refused to even do that. He ended up missing 5 days of work and a job interview because of these people.

My daughter had a terrible experience as well. They did a crown that was not seated properly and during a cleaning the tech popped it off. There was decay because of the faulty crown and she needed a root canal over it. After trying to place blame on the lab I asked why the person who put it on didn't catch it....crickets. Run away from this overpriced bad workmanship.

We had an appt 2 weeks ago after we moved to the area 2 mos ago due to military relocation. My children and i had great experiences until the lady that processed the insurance got involved. For some minor issue they couldn't process the insurance that they tried once and they started leaving messages on my phone. I spoke to them many times and Dana the lady that processed it didn't try to call the insurance again but called me instead. I have been calling the insurance as well but they told me that it's in process and it's going to get paid. I mean it's in the military i don't think it's not gonna get paid. What upset me most is when she started arguing with me and i feel like i am getting accused of giving them the wrong information that i eventually started to feel stressed. She told me that she has been doing insurance for 20 yrs asking questions that i don't have answers because i basically don't have the answer for it. She told me that i need to cancel my appt this wednesday until this gets paid. Of course those are the things that will upset and stressed the client knowing that i can contact my insurance and she can't! Tricare dental also told me that she was not suppose to talk to me when it comes to insurance because her job is to file the claim and speak to them not to me due to that i have no knowledge about it. I have been to to many dental clinic due to military relocation but Dana stressed me so bad that i don't want to go back there and cancelled even my children's upcoming appt. She should do a great job on handling these situation since she mentioned that she had been doing it for 20 yrs instead of accusing client and made them look stupid when the insurance wont go through due to some circumstances!

Truly awful experience. The dental hygienist was great, but the dentist was rude, rushed and spent two minutes with me. I didn't get out of the office without them dropping a 1500k treatment plan in my lap with very little explanation. Nope.

Well, the address is incorrect because he moved further into Fleming Island a few years back! I have been coming to Dr. Skaggs for as long as I have had teeth!! There was a time for 2 years where we moved out of state and I refused to see the dentist!!! He always makes you feel comfortable and compliments your upkeep where most dentists would look for something to complain about! Even when I hadn't been to this office in close to 3 years (due to the move) I came back to my first visit and he immediately asked how the family was AND squeezed me in when I needed an emergency root canal!! I now moved about an hour away from this practice, but will gladly drive that hour to have such an amazing experience!!!

Dentists are great, but office staff(billing) very questionable. Go over your bill very carefully. Many mistakes, all to their favor. We will not go back.

I have given my business(3 children) to this low life for 2 years. Yesterday, two of my kids had an appointment scheduled, and my babysitter for my 2 year old fell through. I asked to reschedule, but they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee. That's understandable, so I had to bring the baby, but I told then on the phone that I won't be coming back since they couldn't work with me. I brought a few toys for the baby to play with so he wouldn't mess with their decorations. The twins, 9year olds, were already in the chair having their teeth cleaned and I was in the waiting area with my 12 year who was reading and the two year old who was playing quietly with his toys. We were the only ones there. I spilled a little coffee mate and as I was cleaning it up, this woman comes up behind me asking if needed help. I thought she was trying to be nice and I told her that I had it. She said 'maybe you should go wait in the car with your kids'. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She said that my kids were tearing up the waiting room and jumping in their sofa. A COMPLETE LIE!!! Said they have other customers coming in and they don't want the toys to be in the floor. Hello!!! I'm a customer. The only customer at the time. I tried to explain that without the toys, the baby would be running around and the toys kept him busy. She wouldn't relent! I asked why she was being so mean and she said it was because I said that on the phone that I said I wouldn't be coming back. In my mind, I thought they would do anything it took to keep 3 paying customers. Apparently, they have so much business, that they don't care about us petty customers. I asked to speak to the dentist and when I tried to explain why I had to bring the baby and his toys, he cut me off and repeated what the woman said. He blindly took her word. I couldn't believe how rude! He said he likes 'a neat waiting room'. He basically kicked us out and sarcastically shouted 'maybe I could refer you to a more kid friendly dentist!' If you have kids, just know they are not welcome there. They'll be nice at first, but DO NOT CROSS THEM. I left in tears. My husband is in the US Navy and is the reason this guy had the freedom to own a business. The reason the dentist gets a paycheck. I'm left alone with four kids for months out of the year, while my husband is overseas fighting for this country. The reason I didn't have a sitter. I'm new to Jacksonville and I don't have family to help me. I'm doing the best I can. I'm giving this man my business and he's treating us like dirt under his shoe. After I got home, I looked at his facebook page and saw many photos of him with the woman who yelled at me. It makes sense. They're sleeping together! Of course he's going to back her up. I woke up thinking I dreamed that. Wow! I'm telling all the navy wives I know to not give him their business. Apparently he doesn't need it.
