For the next 8 weeks this will be my yoga gym, a friend asked if I wanted to join her for yoga because she knows the teacher and I happily accepted.
The pricing is reasonable and given everything going why not do something a little stress releasing?
This gym is awesome! Very spacious and clean, they take your temperature before you come in, and ask that you keep a mask on until you start.
From what I gathered, there's a big variety of classes that you can choose from.
While we used the front space with the mirrors, their was a Zumba class going on the the back.
The yoga is a great work out! Since it's yoga for athletes the focus is more towards the grip of your feet and the form.
I'm excited for class to progress and have this to look forward to each week.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - 4988282923253May 31, 2015
My butt, lower abs and back muscles are falling in love with this place. Just when you think you're getting to a "fit place" you mix it up with a new form of exercise and realize there are several key areas you were missing. In walks Fitness in Motion...
-uber affordable (currently running a special for 6 classes for $15)
-no frills establishment - everyone is welcome and comfortable here
-easy parking
-pound fit classes are so fun! The time flies by and I feel it for a good day or two after
Hope to catch you at a class in the near future!Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Jessica B.Indianapolis, IN1019Sep 10, 2021
I am absolutely in love with Fitness In Motion. I have taken Zumba classes with both Megan and Rachel for the last few months and they are both amazing and motivating. It is so nice to go into a fitness class that can work for everybody. The instructors are great about noting modifications to the dance moves for different fitness levels, and are always encouraging us to just keep moving, regardless of getting the choreography right or not. I leave each class in a full sweat, and I love it. The class prices are extremely affordable, as well!

REVIEW OF ZUMBA ONLY --
If you enjoy old white women doing cardio with a slight dance theme, this is the class for you. THIS IS NOT ZUMBA.
Friday "Zumba" class was basically an hour of cardio to TSwift and Ed Sheeran songs. Nobody should classify what I experienced as Zumba. There was 1 sort of latin song which was still a super Americanized version of a JLo song.
I wouldnt even call the moves we did "dancing". Take 4 of those non-dance moves, do them each 1 MILLION TIMES on repeat for the entire song, that's this class. The moves were clunky and poorly strung together, and some would even be a little dangerous for someone to do too quickly or in slightly poor form. It's a fine class for someone who doesn't want to do Zumba.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lisa W.Greenfield, IN203017Jun 5, 2019
Absolutely loved my first time here this evening! I did a muscle blast class with Rachel the owner. She's super sweet, very professional, and very motivating. I have an actual gym membership but I need accountability and just from one visit I feel that I will have that here. Everyone was super nice and even came up and introduced themselves which is very unusual now days (which is sad tbh) I feel like I can get in shape and make some friends here which is always a plus! Very happy that I found this place! I will definitely be doing at least two classes a week if not more!
It is also very clean and plenty of equipment for classes.
The floors are even clean which is a plus since some of the exercises are on the floor but with a mat of course!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 54914403879Aug 9, 2015
When I was 8 years old, I took a ballet class at a studio in the next town over from my hometown. My mom quickly pulled me from the class, because my ballet teacher, Ms. Kim, informed my mom that I was "too fat" to dance. Although that has never stopped me from bustin' a move, I never took another dance class again, because...well, I may or may not be scarred from Ms. Kim's comment. I'm "too fat" for it.
At 27 I'm finally getting over the stigma, thanks to Fitness In Motion and Pound Fit. I first found out about Pound Fit through Yelp Fit Club and signed up for the free Pound Fit class offered at Fitness In Motion. I got my butt whupped HARD from the 1-hour class, yet I found myself enjoying every heart-pounding, heavy-breathing, sweat-dripping, muscle-burning moment of it. I enjoyed the experience so much that I've been to 12 classes since May. As of now, I give Pound Fit priority on Tuesdays and Thursdays (unless there's an Elite event of course...that trumps all). As someone who is infamous for putting off workouts, this is pretty monumental.
I like to refer to Pound Fit as my uncoordinated dance class. In my mind my fellow Poundees (that's a thing, right?) and I gather to rehearse our STOMP-esque dance moves for a fast-paced hip-hop music video or low-budget rendition of "Step Up 7". We rhythmically slam our sticks, keeping on beat (most of the time) to the songs. The harder we pound it out, the more we take away from the fact that we're squatting and lunging and jumping and crunching and pulsing to the point where our thighs, abs, glutes, and triceps are ready to give out.
It's difficult no doubt, but I've never had more fun working out and kept a program going this long. Better yet, I'm beginning to see results in my arms and legs, justifying all of the "day after" soreness. I feel stronger and more confident, motivating me to take on more intense moves. Best of all, there are no Ms. Kim's judging my imperfections. The class has women (and sometimes men) of all sizes and ages sweating it out with you, led by one of three encouraging and upbeat instructors. Together we're literally the hottest troupe on the Eastside.
To all those looking for a dance--I mean--fitness class that's effective and, more importantly, FUN, I'll see you at rehearsal--I mean--Pound Fit.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ericka D.Indianapolis, IN1355651219Nov 3, 2016
I recently started a get healthy plan, which I have crowned, Bringing Sexy Back. One of my friends who knew I'd started working out mentioned Zumba at FIM. I went with her because I'm on a tight budget and this class is only $5 smackers.
The setting is a bit 80's ish, but the facility is clean and there is a ton of space for dancing. Also, I'm here to sweat so as long as I see the mats and weights are always getting cleaned, the decor isn't super important.
The class did start about 10 minutes late, but the time was made up for by going 10 minutes late, so I still had my 60 minutes in. The owner does have something positive about God on the wall, but she never says anything about it,or pushes it. She does have a youtube channel where she talks about weight loss and her own personal struggles.
The classes do what they promise, GET YOU FIT.
I'm taking the weight loss challenge. $144 for unlimited classes for two months and weight loss accountability, check-ins, and measurements. I try to attend 2 classes every day. The best part of this place, it's casual and you have a TON of class options. Muscle Blast, Pound Fit, & Hip Hop Step are the most difficult in my opinion.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Wende' F.Pittsburgh, PA194311897Apr 4, 2017
Wowza! I'm so thankful I purchased their Groupon. I live on the southeast side and I was trying to find a convenient workout location. First off, the instructor Rachel is amazing. She is encouraging and motivating but kicks butt. I enjoy her Zumba and hip hop step classes. You are guaranteed to sweat and most importantly have fun. At fitness in motion you will see the same faces which helps build community and everyone is friendly. Make sure to bring your own water as there is no water fountain. Also they offer child care services. The only reason they are getting four stars is because the quality of instruction varies. I want to go to any instructor and sweat like crazy but that's not the case. Although, I highly suggest fitness in motion to anyone.

My cousin invited me to workout here one Saturday morning. I think we did a body pump class. It was my first time so it was free. The class was great! Definitely got my sweat on. It feels like a family. Most people knew each other and the instructor called people by first name. She owns the place and teaches classes.
I love the story behind the business. The owner was once a member at another gym. She over heard a woman who had just lost a loved one, husband I believe, try to cancel her membership and the gym wouldn't let her. She said the woman was in tears and just wanted out of her contract. That inspired her to open a facility, contract free that anyone could enjoy. You can pay per class or for a group of classes at a time. I love that.
They have free daycare. Yes I said FREE!!! Check her out on facebook too. Very motivational.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tamara D.Indianapolis, IN49251Aug 10, 2018
I have been going to FIM for the past few years on an "as needed" basis. While the classes are fun and the instructors pleasant, I have a few complaints. Classes often start late and/or are cancelled at the last minute. I find this extremely frustrating and very unprofessional. It's a waste of my time and money. Secondly, I would like to see a variety of classes offered during the same time slot. Currently there are Zumba classes at 6:00 p.m. three nights/week. I suggest switching up the 5:00 and 6:00 classes to offer a better variety. I would recommend this facility as a last resort but would not recommend paying on a monthly basis until the time management/lack of professionalism is addressed. However, from reading previous comments it seems to be an on-going problem.
