While visiting Chicago for a week, I rented a car for the first time. The entire process was simple enough, select a car and pay for it online. Travel to Enterprise location and pick up car. Have a good vacation. Drop off rental car. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Pros:
- They found our reservation
- Nice staff
- Upgraded free of charge
- The Kia Soul functioned
Cons:
- Difficult location
- The car was FILTHY! Backseats were covered in sand. Why don't they clean they cars once they are returned?

The WORST experience at a car rent location EVER. I wanted over 2 hours to get a rental that I had made a reservation one week in advance to get & had to leave without a car due to the lack of cars. The staff would lie about when a car was coming & refused to answer questions honestly.

Bumping down a star for a couple minor annoyances. I rented again from them last weekend; they gave me a car that had just been returned (which, in and of itself was fine). However, they explained that their hose to wash the car wasn't working because it had frozen. Okay, fine, it was cold, the car doesn't have to be clean. But, what they did was try to wipe off the windows, and since it was so cold the water froze in streaks on the windows-all of them. It made it very hard to see. Driving at night was okay because I could see the lights of the cars, but when I tried to drive it during the day I had to stop and clean all the windows off so I could see. Not a huge thing, but a minor annoyance, and one that could have been avoided.
Also, when I called to make the reservation I applied two coupon codes for a free rental day each to the reservation, and was quoted a price that included the discount. When I received my receipt after turning in the car I noted the coupons had not been applied to my rental.
The staff at the location has always been friendly, so I have no complaints there.
Also, slightly random, but I don't understand why they always try to push the "free upgrade" on me. I'm a smaller person, I like a smaller(ish) car. I don't want to drive a big honking SUV, nor do I want the bad gas mileage it brings or the cost of filling up the tank. I know some people like this perk, so it's fine they offer and I'm not really complaining about it, just an observation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 3, 2016Previous reviewReturned a rental here, had no issues finding it or finding a spot to return the car. Agent was very helpful, and I simply dropped off the car with no issues or delays.

Rented cars from this Enterprise location 3 or 4 times and enjoyed the awesome service. This location is only 2 blocks from where I live and I especially like renting from this location because of the availability of after hours return (you just park the returned car in one of the enterprise parking spots and then drop the keys off in a secure key box). Staff are friendly, cars have always been clean and in good condition. Favorite place to get a car!

After a hit and run accident of our brand new car, we needed extensive repairs on our car and needed to rent a car while ours was in the shop.
Geico insurance uses enterprise as their preferred provider so we walked over to this location just a few blocks from our house. They bill Geico direct so you only have to pay any overages above your daily reimbursement rate.
We had a bike trip planned during the time our car was in the shop and the staff here (John in particular) went above and beyond to make sure we had a vehicle that would work to transport two bikes on our trip. The first car we rented would not fit the bikes (Nissan Rogue) so we returned it and he gave us a Dodge Caravan Van. He even folded down all the seats for us so we could pop them into the back of the van. The van was super comfortable on our trip. We received great service renting and great service when returning the car - they are super quick so we only had to wait a few minutes each time.
Best of all he only charged us the rate that Geico would reimburse - very kind and compassionate experience...a rarity in these days.
If I ever have a need to rent a car, I will definitely use them again. Thank you Enterprise!
Just FYI in case someone else needs to rent a vehicle to transport bikes - I found a utube video that showed how to put the bikes in the vehicle (fold down all but front two seats, remove front bike wheels, attach a zip tie to the seat belt on the drivers side, load bikes from side or back sitting upright laying against the side of the car, then bungee cord them to the zip tie...place front wheels between the secured bike frames). They were very secure AND did not rattle. Horrible!!!! One employee told us one price and we didn't have the money on the card we had to go to the bank to deposit money came back that person had left the other one told us another price had to go back to the bank to deposit more money!!!!!

Rented a compact car via the website and came to pick it up. Gabby Harding helped me. She was excellent. Quick, competent, well-spoken, friendly, and gave me a great upgrade since no compacts were available. Ask for her. When I dropped it off, she was even quicker but not less friendly.

Wish I could have give this location below zero stars. Was told to leave the office in zero degree weather after taking the Subway from Midway airport. I wanted to use a credit/debit card which I have done many times before at enterprise and other car rentals. Manager, Bex Trout, says he had called me to make sure I am using a major credit card. I check my phone. He called 12 minutes before I arrived. I tell him it seemed he would have called the day before prior to me leaving Georgia since I had a reservation. He says I need 2 utility bills and instate Id to use my card. I ask if this is a published enterprise policy or one he is making up off the top of his head. He says he is offended. I have disrespected him and I must get out of his office. I leave. I go to the building lobby to try to use my phone to locate another car rental. I reach HERTZ. They will take my card but I must walk 7 blocks to their location. I am already freezing. It is zero degrees and I am not prepared to walk nearly a mile. I finally get a car from Hertz using the same credit/debit card and much Respect!!!

I went in without a reservation and the people were very helpful. They had a car and got it ready very quickly. I was returning on a Sunday after their regular hours and everything went smoothly. I left the keys in the key drop and they called me to confirm that everything was set and to make sure I was happy.

Enterprise never fails to impress me and this rental experience was no exception. Becks is a wonderful, helpful employee. I'm so grateful he put me in a 4-wheel drive car Christmas eve to brave the snowstorms, and get me home for the holidays. I don't believe I would have safely made it without this thoughtful upgrade. Thank you for putting the safety and comfort of your customers first. Enterprise rocks, and so does Becks!
