If western MN has a Chipotle equivalent this is it, but more - it's authentic (not franchise). The chicken burrito was packed with meat, cheesiness, sauce, guac, and rice. HUGE and delicious. Have a craving? Here's the cure. The chewy-toasted wrap holds the goodness together as you munch through. Dipping sauce was a mild-warm-spicy, not "jalapeño," hot. Cooks are friendly; know their product; menu is in English. Like Chipotle you stand to order. Like old-time mom and pop it's good food with simple humble presentation. Most people took their food to go. There are a few booths with a grocery store on the other side. Worth the stop if you want hearty savory flavors that mix well. Your eyes will dance when you open the box.

I was a little Larry walking in because I felt this wasn't even a restaurant at first. It looked more like a grocery store. The people behind the counter kind of looked at me funny but I really wanted some good authentic Mexican food. I figured with four stars it must not be too bad. I ask the young lady if this was the Mexican restaurant and she led me to a table.
She set me down and I asked for water with lemon a few minutes later she brought me water with lime LOL it was good though! I like lime as well. I was assuming there was a bit of a communication gap between us.
I am however, trying to learn Spanish.
She brought me chips and salsa the chips for a tad stale and the salsa had way too much cilantro in it for my liking. But I completely distain cilantro so I am a bad opinion on their salsa.
When I asked for guacamole she brought me a bowl and luckily there was no cilantro in it. It was one of the best guacs I've had at any restaurant!
It only took about 15 minutes to get my burrito. I'm not gonna lie when she brought it to me, it looked more like a sandwich wrap not at all what I was expecting. I'm not gonna lie though it was by far one of the best burritos I've ever eaten. So big I could only eat half of it but it reheated nicely the next day!!

Food was okay. The waiter was a little busy but very nice. Out of his control. Thank you !!

Homemade authentic Mexican food made to order! The food is amazing and makes up for the modest interior. Free chips and salsa with every meal which is a plus! I highly recommend the food to anyone as I eat here about once a week. The sopes are stellar!

This place is really authentic. It has a store, la tienda, in one side and the restaurant on the other side. It is not an overly impressive building to look at, but the food was great. The people who work there were very friendly. It is not Tex-Mex, but rather authentic Mexican food. I really enjoyed it. I'm going back.

Ceiling- crumbling
Chips- greasy
Salsa- strange
Staff- slow ( we were the only table there)
Beans- watery
Rice- mushy, super plain
Walls- dirty
Food- disappointing, not what she said I was getting.
No choice in tortillas for me. Overall plain waste of time and money.
Wish I could give no star.
Also, freezing cold in there! Turn on some heat!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - William M.Westminster, CO564669Jan 30, 2014

I wanted to follow up my previous review with a bit of an update. First off, the horchata was amazing, and the sopes were really great. I've only had the chicken, but they're good enough that it's going to be difficult to branch out.

Don't be afraid to ask for them to make it a little spicy if that's what you're after as the food coming out tends to be on the more mild side. The horchata is a good way to wash it all down.
El Paraiso also has a nice latino market where you can pick up some traditional sweets and other authentic groceries if you're looking to take home something for later.
All in all a really nice place that I'll keep coming back to whenever I visit the prairie waters area. - Danny V.Anaheim, CA101Oct 31, 2015
Stores way too expensive service was slow very slow. Very pricy and food just wasn't that great being Mexican. This food was not authentic but it ls the closest there is around here. Checks are cheap to cash though
