My husband and I had a delicious dinner here. It is a little more upscale with prices ranging $30-$50 per dish. The quality of food is very good. The menu is not huge, but does offer a variety of seafood, steaks, and some other meat (duck, lamb). The dishes are a good portion size, unlike some other upscale restaurants, and more importantly, much of the food is locally grown and sourced.
We started with the southside and The skinny cocktails. The Southside was very good - the Skinny was not my favorite - not a great balance of tart and sweet.
For dinner, I had the scallops with mushrooms, farro, parma ham and arugula. Everything about this dish complimented each other so well and it was a delicious blend of flavors - the only thing I didn't like was that there was a little too much oil. I would have preferred less oil. The parma ham gave a nice crunchy texture to the chewy scallops and the cooked mushrooms helped bring out the flavor of the farro. My husband had the spiced glazed lamb with apricot over cous cous. Normally, when dishes mention fruit flavors, the flavor isn't too noticeable, but the apricot definitely gave the lamb a pleasantly citrus flavor profile. The lamb was cooked to perfection and very tender - having been braised many hours (I think overnight).
I would recommend coming here for a special occasion or to celebrate. You'll get a good meal and have top notch service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael K.Olympia, WA6334623655Aug 16, 2021
Wrote a review for the hotel already but must single the bar and the AMAZING bartender out. We made a point of stopping in every night we were here just to see what fantastic concoction Kevin would miraculously come up for us. He was not only supremely imaginative and creative but was also almost clairvoyant in his ability to spontaneously come up with the perfect drink each patron needed at that precise moment. He was also a fantastic conversationalist, a necessity for any good bartender.

I do intend to go back and will happily update my review. Average food, poor service. Sent an email about concerns, never heard back. On my own, I called a week later to give someone an opportunity to respond to the issues I had. The manager was apologetic, stating his name and saying, "ask for me when you return." I guess the issue of poor service is solved with that.

I've been eyeing this restaurant since the restaurant week menu came out. I knew I wanted steak, and The Drawing Room seemed like they had really good options.
I came alone to check this place out. It was dark out and I couldn't see the signs well. Luckily, the restaurant is inside a hotel and a bellhop assisted me in finding where I needed to go. He was very courteous and even checked on me during my meal to make sure I was enjoying myself. Talk about service!
On to the food. There was a lot. First, I was given a spoonful of dried red beans that had been tossed in salt and vinegar. It was very good! I wanted a bag of them to take home and munch on.
For my appetizer, I ordered the quail. It was smoked and came with a black bean purée with an egg on top. It was very good. The pomegranate seeds were a nice refreshing touch!
The middle "bite" the chef offered was a little tartlet with ahi tuna, avocado, and grapefruit. I could've eaten 20 of those. So good.
I ordered the filet mignon as my main dish. It was prepared well. The roasted potatoes were delicious, and the creamed greens was good with a kick of spice.
The dessert was amazing. I had their play on chocolate german cake with a scoop of ice cream. Wow. I forced myself to finish it. It was so good!
Shannon was my bartender and she was very sweet. I really enjoyed my experience! Also, apparently there's a rooftop bar. I'll be back to check it out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 17, 2015
Went here on a Saturday night. We went at 7 before it got really busy. The restaurant is inside the Vendue hotel. The ambience is "old style" this is an old library from 1870 that was converted into a restaurant. The food is "french inspired". Very attentive staff.
We had the beet salad and calamari/crab salad for starters. For the main course we had spicy lamb and scallops.
The beet salad comes is very tasty and the calamari is awesome. The lamb was falling apart and was so tender. The scallops were well prepared and very tasty. Really great food.
The desert menu is a joke. Too few and too simple dishes. We went elsewhere. The service was a bit overwhelmed but otherwise really great with good explanation about dishes, ...
Very much liked the ambiance. With a real desert menu this would have been a straight 5 star.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mariah D.Charleston, SC95743Feb 24, 2018
If I could give infinity stars I would. My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and let me begin this review with an appreciation for the art displayed. The art was so unique and there was enough for us to walk around so it added even more fun, spark and beauty to our date. When we arrived our server greeted us with a complimentary bottle of champagne, we also received complementary shrimp cocktail and muscles. Our appetizer was amazing just as our dinner. The chef even came out to speak with us, it was one of the best meals I've ever had. We also received a complementary dessert, we chose the banana pudding. No doubt, the best... ever. I would go back just to get the dessert if I had a sweet tooth and was in the area. I recommended some family members go there and they said the art was different, so that's another plus of this establishment.

Awesome. Service, ambience, cuisine are world class. Contemporary American extraordinaire. Very artsy interior, an amazing guitarist playing background music added a really classy aspect to the experience. In our mountain environment of Asheville, we have wonderful but casual restaurants. It was nice to have waiters and waitresses dressed a little more formally. We will definitely be returning hopefully with friends and family.

We decided to dine here because of the menu and the beautiful space. Along with it was the art everywhere in the restaurant and the hotel lobby. When we walked in there was an artist painting, which we loved. Something different and not music.
This restaurant is well on it's way to a 5 star review but it fell short. I know that it's hard to probably find quality servers in Charleston, it's not LA or San Francisco where it's a career. Our server was very nice, engaging but a bit over the top. Very loud and opinionated. Most of our questions were answered with words memorized from a card. I do feel bad when servers have to serve sommeliers and fish experts without knowing. We never mention it, but we know when there is a little fib being told. He did handle my step dad who was in a foul mood, which I definitely appreciated. He changed his appetizer choice and they worked on trying to get everything out together so he was not eating on his own or sitting there without anything. This did require our appetizers taking quite a long time, but they sure were delicious.
This was one of our better meals in Charleston on the higher end. Worth the price. Most of the restaurants have the same price point of $12 apps and $20 entrees. This place bumped it up. Most entrees were in the $30s. Good flavor, great presentation and delightful choices. They do attempt to provide amuse bouches. This is where they fell completely flat. Flavorless and odd choices for the season and timing in the meal. I do however, appreciate the attempt.
I would definitely suggest to try this place and maybe stay at the hotel. It looked beautiful.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mya S.Washington, DC17913Jan 7, 2017
The service and food was spot on. The atmosphere is lovely as well.
I love that they serve you two amuse buche dishes.
The scallops and fish of the day and the associated sides were excellent. The scallops are served with butternut squash which was thinly sliced and creamy and delicious, prepared similar to an au gratin style.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jackson L.San Jose, CA1026531478Sep 4, 2014
We had breakfast at The Drawing Room twice during our Charleston visit because the experience was so amazing the first time.
While I hardly ever call a breakfast experience world-class, this one definitely was. All of the waitstaff were extremely professional, accommodating, and nice. Our server handled all special requests with a large smile and positive attitude. She even remembered what I had ordered the previous day!
The food was exceptional (which is hard to do at breakfast). All the premade omelette combinations were artfully crafted, and the side potatoes were crispy without being greasy! I had the French Quarter Omelette and another one with bacon, grilled onions, and cheddar cheese that was heaven on a plate.
The toast came with a delicious homemade peach jam (I wish I could have some back at home) that was natural, fresh, and housemade!
We were shocked at the low pricing for our breakfast, especially considering the impeccable service!
I'm so sad we didn't find this place earlier during our visit, and I wish I could have breakfast at The Drawing Room daily!
I've also heard their other meals are very tasty!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
