I've called 5 deck companies looking for estimates. Sadly, diamond decks REQUIRES my husband to be there in order for a quote to be given. The other 4 companies do not require this. The lady I spoke with said, "I'm sorry, we are just so busy that we really need your husband to be present for the quote." I explained that my husband works 7 days a week, 80+ hours and isn't available. He would take time off for the finalization of the deck plans if we went with them. She reiterated that she can't offer a quote unless my husband was there as well as how busy they really are. Basically, I felt she didn't want/need my business because she's soooooo busy. I told her I would go with another company. She said great, thanks. Unbelievable!

I have been texting and talking to Traye Bentz for over a week. He has set up two appointments and has not shown up for either one. When I called to find out where he is, he just hangs up.
I could understand if he was late or had something come up, but he should be professional and let me know. I won't spend any more time dealing with him.

How good is this company - well our deck that they built was 4 years ago was just ripped out and replaced! It was always a shoddy, unattractive job but multiple construction defects lead to us having to rip it out and more became apparent during our new deck construction. We paid $12k to them ( this did include a roof which is still there after the beams that hold it up were replaced and finally secured to the ground with concrete and steel which they had failed to do!
To be fair our contractor says they used good cedar! That at earns one star. Our HOA requires approval - they said it was approved - it wasn't leaving us in a long term battle. I will take responsibility for this as I should have waited for communication myself from the home owners and not trusted them!
The job was shoddy at best, we constantly had to follow up with them to get the work finished, it took weeks and they were still coming back a year later to address issues ( my new deck that someone else built is beautiful, properly finished and was done in 4 days including tear down )
Edges were left rough and unfinished, they winged it with pieces of wood added on to 'complete ' the work which looked awful. They had to come back less than a year later to replace finishing touches around an engineered beam ( which we have subsequently learned is - safe - but the posts that support it were not properly secured.
The planks were screwed down so tightly that multiple boards split - which to be fair they did replace - but over the years this has caused additional splitting so we had to replace them anyways ( and they have been sealed and stained since it was built ) so we just decided to rip out the whole thing !! The boards were also so tight together that water pooled on the deck each time it rained which never happened with our original deck, we subsequently learned that the front of the deck was 2.5 inches higher than the back which caused water to flow towards the house. And they told us they"would eventually shrink to allow water through - they did not so we lived with puddles.
The flashing job was awful and we had to have someone else to finish it ( it still never looked great) ; it looks like it's been there for 20 years - see pics. The flashing should have been installed under stucco not attached to the top
We had to have someone else complete the staining it as their job was poor. So both that and the flashing issues cost more money !
The gutter comes out under the deck so water pooled and sat under it which is a terrible idea leading to rot. Water directed to below the deck and boards so tight led to the perfect storm and rot ! Our new contractor had to diver the flow .
It just looked awful and always had! When we compare one new deck to the own they built - it is night and day. We have perfect edges, no random gaps, no weird pieces of wood tacked on.
Yes I had to pay to remove their rubbish, but Lesson lesson learned. I have a deck I am happy with finally and it was not from Diamond DecksHelpful 5Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Marisol R.San Antonio, TX0184Jul 1, 2019
Very disappointing. We have never worked with a company that lacks a great deal of communication and charged us a great deal of money for the very poor job they did.
1. Project manager never communicated with us. We always had to reach out.
2. Project manager never on the job. We had to ask the manager to come because we were unhappy with progress of job.
3. Workers left sealers and plywood in our backyard. We had to request for these things to be taken.
4. They told us we would have a scheduled walk thru of job, and that has yet to happen.
5. Don't hire them for stamped concrete! At least with our small patio, they left a great deal of areas with no groove stamp, so they had to "hand saw" it and it looks very different. See for yourself.
6. We sent an email, never heard back. They took our money real quick.
Maybe you'll have better luck.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elizabeth D.San Antonio, TX474Nov 9, 2021
I really wish I would have researched this company a little more. When we asked them for an estimate we were met at our house with a very pushy salesman who was trying to get us to sign that day. The only reason why we did was because we haggled down from 21k to only 11k and they financed. We had requested quotes from everyone else and they came and left with better customer service. This guy was very pushy.
Fast forward to last month trying to refinance my house when we learned the "financing" was written as an actual lean against our house. We have automatic draft and have not been late once! So we were confused. After several conversations they refused to remove the lean so we had to show proof to our mortgage company (along with our credit report matching up) that we have never been late or missed one payment. Good thing I keep all of that stuff.
2nd they started work without my HOA'S approval. They said they would take care of everything (which was another good selling point for them) and then BOOM! I received a warning notice about a fine because of the unapproved construction. When I questioned them they said it was MY responsibility to check the status? So I asked them to send me the communication between them and my HOA and I can tell you that I am still waiting on that email till this day.
This isn't even commenting on their sloppy work. My house siding is FILLED with concrete splatter! The concrete is uneven and it's been over a year dealing with "Angel" trying to level it out because all of the rain water collects against my house and doesn't drain into the yard. So we purchased a push broom to push all of the water off of the porch when it rains. We keep getting excuse after excuse about their sloppy work and mess they leave behind. They left my yard muddy and concrete chunks and splatter everywhere we actually had to call them back to come and clean up. And now they are unresponsive to finally finishing the work. I hate you tear any business down but I have absolutely had enough.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - David B.New Braunfels, TX33821Dec 23, 2020
Very painful experience. It was a terrible ordeal, product not so bad, but not worth the 6 month struggle to get them to work.

Donnie and Kyle make a great team. They are professional in every way. They listened to what we had in mind and offered suggestions regarding design, use of space, materials, cost savings, and more. We have had two projects built by Diamond Decks. We extended our contractor's deck by eight feet and covered the space with a matching roof complete with stairway with attached flower box. We later had a roof installed on the open air portion of the deck. We went with composite material and all has turned out beautifully. All cedar has been stained with a quality product.
The business has received several awards from consumer related websites. I highly recommend this group to anyone who is searching for a well designed and well crafted product added to their property.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heather P.San Antonio, TX76210Jun 1, 2017
Donnie, his crew and his staff is so incredible! We had some creative designs that we wanted done for a brand new night club / bar in San Antonio. When we showed these designs to Donnie he automatically said "We can do that. No problem!" And not only did he and his crew deliver amazing results but their professionalism and quickness were stellar!
My only wish is, I just wish had more floors for them to work on because I would work with them every, single day! The BEST!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mark A.Key West, FL2516Aug 13, 2021
Company isn't responsive at all. People don't call when they say they will. They don't send emails when they say. The won't let you cancel a job once you sign but they'll promise you the moon to sign then let you sit and wait until they're ready to start their work. If you try to cancel the sales person says the owner called them stupid for even asking. I wouldn't recommend them. I hope H‑E‑B calls for a review so I can let them know how we were treated too

First,
I would like to say that I would never hire/reccomend Diamond Decks LLC. I hired Diamond Decks LLC also known as Rockstar Remodeling according to my billing statements to install two walkways both 4 feet wide. One on the left side and one on the right side of my house. I had them put the concrete against my current foundation.
***[The list of my issues is below]***
They saw cut the stress grooves instead of using a grooving tool. Which would not be an issue. However, that is unless they cut into your houses foundation like they are brand new at installing concrete. This happened on the job they did for me. They put the stress grooves 6 feet apart, (They are supposed to be 4 feet apart) They also used my front lawn as a place to wash out their wheelbarrows, (I live in an HOA area) they also never came by to smooth the edges after taking the forms off from around the concrete, they left a hump next to my gate, my hose was on at 7pm, they left before 4pm, THEY NEVER SENT SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE JOB AFTER IT WAS "COMPLETE", I had to call about my lawn as I live in an HOA. And the guy that came out, said he would be back to pressure wash on Friday, he never came back, but told the company he did, AND EVEN STILL NOBODY CAME BY TO INSPECT THE JOB SITE!!! They tripped my breaker 2 times by overloading MY extension cord that I had Christmas lights plugged into. They were also not worth my $$$. I regret not paying a different company. Very expensive, very unprofessional. This is the worst company I have ever hired.
This company only does the bare minimum, and do not care about their customers. Only their bottom line/$$$. I shouldn't have to point out issues to them over the phone. They should have came too inspect their work and tell me what corrections they are going to make if any. Most companies require this it's called "integrity" or "doing the right thing".Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeremy G.San Antonio, TX01May 10, 2021
I had a great experience from the start, had got my initial visit set up and plan laid out. I was ready to make a deal on a new patio and the rep never followed back up. I had another company come back and make me a better offer. When I reached out to my rep to let him know, he apologized and said something personal came up and he couldnt get back to me. I cant hold it against him, but it was unfortunate. 2 weeks passed from when I told him I was ready to make a deal and nobody could follow up with me at all to help him. I'm sure this was a rare occurrence but it was really unfortunate.
